FLIGHT DETAILS

Welcome to our first Community Fly-In following the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024! Of course, pilots using Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) are absolutely welcome to join too!

This week, we’ll be visiting one of the most scenic and exciting places on the entire planet, the Grand Canyon! After departing from Page Municipal Airport (KPGA), we’ll fly on a generally southwesterly heading to Grand Canyon National Park (KGCN) then turn westbound for a full stop landing in fabulous Las Vegas!

MSFS (2020) Pilots on PC can download the .pln file here:
2024-12-06 Grand Canyon.PLN (3.8 KB)

MSFS 2024 Pilots on both PC and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool by clicking this link: Flight Planner

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at KPGA. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

Just out of interest, I haven’t seen any information on the maximum visible aircraft during group flights, it would be great to get this number. Thanks

With the current state of the sim being so iffy it should be interesting to see how the servers handle this event - and how players respond to it. Fingers crossed for smooth flying

I was wondering if/when you were going to post another one of these!

Running 2024 — bold!

That’s a real statement of intent. I like it!

We will have members of our on-screen Twitch panel running both MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020. We don’t want anyone to feel left out regardless of which version they’re using!

Hi Seedy or anyone else that’s able to answer. The only way i can see how to change the server is no longer in flight (like it was in 2020) For 2024 is it only in the online settings when you don’t have a flight active?

This should be fun! i never joined one of these community fly-in’s before. :slightly_smiling_face:

Does description of this indeed imply that multiplayer services (=who is flying what airplane where in the world right now) is shared by 2020 and 2024 so everyone can be part of this Community Fly-In regardless of which version of they sim they are using? That would be awesome…

Hello @peSHIr5337,

MSFS 2020 and 2024 have their own multiplayer environments. You will only be able to see other sim pilots who are using the same version that you are.

For our Community Fly-In Friday group flights, we will at least one of our on-screen panel members flying on each version of the sim so there will always be an event host you can fly with.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

My last flight I did was in MSFS 2020, but this time I thought would fly in MSFS 2024. I don’t want to forget about this game and right now the 2020 edition is just a back-up I want to focus on using 2024 more.

This flight was through the Grand Canyon, things went well but sadly, I was unable to get out of it. Yes, that means I crashed

Oh, and I did spot a few errors that popped up, which all revolved around the flight data. So after the flight I turned my flight data from REAL to AI
As the real flight data isn’t important to me at this time if it’s going to give me a smoother flight if I use the AI generated.

Will unfortunately miss out tonight, but have fun! Looking forward to do some community flights in 2024 soon enough!

Multiplayer not working, can´t see anyone flying at all. Not possible with live weather (always going back to live players) not possible with a preset weather.

No sense in flying alone

Nice flight, though VR is a bit rough still.

Did you set your Multiplayer Server to “Southeast Asia” in the Settings->Online menu? Otherwise you won’t see the others.

Hello @LT38Gaming,

Did you have your Flight Conditions set to “All Players”? It’s very important you change it from “Live Players” to “All Players” or else you won’t see everyone else.

As you can see from the screenshots above and from the Twitch stream, the sim is definitely capable of handling this many players all flying together at once.

Here are the options you need to set before starting the flight:

Thanks,

This was my first participation and it was so much fun. I loved hanging out for the picture with our avatars at the end!

Flew this community flight still on MSFS2020, I hope I will be ready to join in MSFS2024 soon! Nonetheless, a fun community flight through the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas.

Thanks, it was fun! although i could only see the other airplanes at the beginning when we took off from the airport, after that it was sporadic i could see some planes flying in the canyons. But i still liked it, i would be happy to join in again but next time with a faster plane, not the slowest one in the whole simulator. :slightly_smiling_face:

Btw, fun to see the big balloon there
