[Official] Community Fly-In Friday: Kiribati National Day

We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both sim versions (MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024) and PC, Xbox, and PS5 platforms.

FLIGHT DETAILS

July 12 is the National Day holiday for the Pacific island nation of Kiribati, commemorating their independence from the UK in 1979! This country is near and dear to many MSFS players (IYKYK ), so we’re excited to visit it for our Community Fly-In Friday group flight this week!

Also, as recently announced, Senior Community Manager @Jummivana will soon be leaving the MSFS Team to pursue another career opportunity outside of Microsoft. If you’d like to see Jayne as a co-host for one final group flight and to wish her well in her next role, be sure to tune in to the Twitch livestream this week!

MSFS 2024 Pilots on PC, PS5, and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool at this link.

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or PS5/Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at NGTU. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: Cessna 172, de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver, ICON A5, or any aircraft of your choice with a cruise speed of 90 knots or greater. Aircraft equipped with floats or otherwise capable of water takeoffs/landings are recommended but not required.

Many of us are also currently testing the SU6 Beta in MSFS 2024. Will players on the live version and the SU6 Beta be able to see each other during the event, or do we all need to be on the same version?

Also, which version will Jayne be using for the event - MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024?

I’m asking because if the multiplayer servers aren’t shared across all versions of MSFS, we’d like to know which sim she’ll be flying in so we can join her and, for example, give her a proper escort

Yeah usually, but SU5 and 5.1 betas seem to have had shared MP servers. Not sure if it’s still the case in SU6 beta. I’ll be in the beta, anyway.

Well, from what I’ve seen during all betas: There are about 5-7 people flying on the beta and 20+ on the stable version. So not too sure that many people are actually on betas.

From what I’ve seen so far, both SU5.1 and SU6 betas shared MP servers with their non-beta counterparts.

Sadly, my sim crashed just before turning final. I’m in the beta, but that was the first time probably since SU4 that I had one during normal flight. I restarted the sim but could not find you guys anymore for the group pic.

Then i have joined the group and our beloved @Jummivana on her last flight.
I bet it adds some security feeling, when there flying a coast guard helicopter

They really should fix the shallow water masking detail, it should not be this cyan/light blue blur. It’s the same in the keys.
