[Official] Community Fly-in Friday: National Pizza Party Day

We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both sim versions (MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024) and both the PC and Xbox platforms.

FLIGHT DETAILS

The third Friday in May is National Pizza Party Day! To celebrate, this week we’re flying to the home of pizza: Naples, Italy!

Be sure to bring your own pizza to this fly-in (authentic Neapolitan-style is recommended, but if you want to be a rebel and put pineapple on your pizza, we won’t judge!

MSFS (2020) and MSFS 2024 Pilots on PC can download the .pln file here:

MSFS 2024 Pilots on both PC and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool at this link.

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at LIBR. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: Cessna 172, Cub Crafters X or NX Cub, Diamond DA40, Pilatus PC-6 Porter, Pipistrel Virus, or any other plane of your choice with a cruise speed of 110+ knots.

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

COMMUNICATION

To communicate with others, a voice channel on the "Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Discord” at https://discord.gg/msfs will be available to join.

Not having any luck with the flight planner and loading in the flight plan from the link. Also having issues after the update with just planning normal flights. Very frustrating.

I compared the original flight plan with the one I made and there are structural differences between the two. So I guess FS2020 can’t find some data from the 2024 version pln file because it looks different.

This will be a challenge, eating pizza while flying in VR on a motion rig.

I did use LitteNavMap mostly. Easy in use and perfect profile for each airplane you can create.
Collect the data during your flight and know next time exactly the fuel needed and how long your flight will take. Its a free program btw.

Thanks for the Pizza party fly-in, it was fun having some delicious slices while participating in the event. The route was quite relaxing, beautiful views, perfect while eating pizza.
