Official Discussion: November 11th, 2021 Development Update

When the sim was released, heck, even when it was announced, simmers basically agreed that the xBox would per design not be able to run a flightsim at full power or the way it‘s expected by simmers. Those people were shut up and called all kind of names. Then the sim’s visuals have been reduced with every update to squeeze it into the limited hardware of the console. Mentioning this reduction people have been called everything again. Now xbox users complaining about the xbox version not being on par with the PC version is ironic indeed. A flightsim has different requirements on performance, controls/controllers, bindings, APIs. It has to be treated completely different from a typical game. Veteran simmers have always known that and were constantly and instantly done down when they mentioned it. And now? It has turned out exactly as it was said: xbox misses out most addons. Developers shrug their shoulders, draw back. The PC version suffers from the requirements of a console menu and limitation and people are frustrated and point the fingers at each other. What a great achievement.

Dude, I have all assistants off, Flightmodel on legacy/realistic, no visual help or guidelines or anything. Also flying with hotas & pedals plus mouse and keyboard…
So don’t tell me not real simming.. it’s not only about PC player’s..

Reno is not free?

Well, I have a completely different opinion.

Be nice if they did hand actions like Flyinside Flight Simulator itself and mods they made for FSX, P3d and XP.

No Reno is not free.

Again , nothing is mentioned about the problems we have with the Bush Trips…

It took almost 50 years after the first video gaming console was released until someone took the daring task to release a fully fledged flight simulator to a console.

In a historical and technical point of view it’s a remarkable achievement, given the sim itself is the same as on PC, with all it’s rich features and even support for a number of controllers.

Not only that, but it’s also available on the Xbox Game Pass, making an usually expensive hobby affordable to everyone.

Now with this context, is waiting a bit on more third-party content truly such a burden? I suggest to launch your console and reflect on what a wonderful time in history we live in (from a simming point of view), where flight simming is getting such a boost, and soon enough more stuff will appear in the market.

For everything new, things tend to take some time. It’s been the same on PC with third-party development and it’s nothing strange about it.

I was aware :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry for the off topic but I’m really curious, how difficult would this be on an Xbox in the 152 let’s say coming from Julian? Given the 152 mod (which adds a DME) isn’t on Xbox would it be feasible to substitute the DME with your second CDI twisting it to VOR radials to figure out where you are on the approach? On PC this is quite simple (that is not using DME but a second CDI) but on Xbox? I’m not sure.

-EDIT: Removed chart because it was huge-

You can disregard my post all together.

Print it out?

I mean does it become tedious to keep twisting the OBS. Again, I honestly have no clue how it works on Xbox, it’s a sincere question.

EDIT: You know now that I think of it it’s down to the hardware. I have knobs I use for this, I assume Xbox users can do this too.

I love the cockpit interaction in VTOL VR - it works so well and is unbelievably immersive

Isn’t that game built from the ground up with VR in mind though?

Might be a problem as it needs to be set to MODERN

Legacy is really only useful for compatibility reasons, it should not be used for vanilla MSFS aircraft nor virtually any addon for MSFS. In fact using Legacy will cause very, very strange behavior with some addons.

DX12 being released on the next update?

Correct, although I think that mainly influenced cockpit design (large mfds etc, so people with low resolution headsets could read them well). There’s no reason why MSFS couldn’t use the same cockpit interaction system though.

Yes but it’s just the API, nothing special will come at first.

Uhh and the first class PC player’s has spoken😂

Yh you r right it is freakin horrible to navigate with the vanilla version and what a Xbox user got as Standard from the game. But that’s exactly what I mean.. why r Xbox users are treated like second class users? And at the end have to deal with such commentarys from the “upper class PC gamer’s”

Sorry I’m not able and willing to spend like 3000 bugs just on a PC and don’t have the time to maintain it like 3 hours a week.
