On screen indication of sim rate

this is a good point but a separate topic compared to the OP. you should start your own thread as a suggestion and people will support it

I remember that option, you could also change flight plans during flight which we cant now either, still missing that too

As mentioned above, Shift+Z Stats works perfectly even with SU5.
You can display your simrate only, and/or others indicators.
As in FSX you can toggle between differents displays.
But as (near) all is configurable you can choose what info is on each display, or put the ones you want in an unique one.
You can also configure top left or top right position, color and size of each line, etc

Last but not least, the ultimate function:
in external view it toggles HUD On/Off by pressing " < " or " > " keys !

I use FSSimRateBandit too - I also bound the sim rate in MSFS to a toggle on my Logitech yoke so I can easily set to 1x in a hurry if I need to.

We need a time acceleration readout ala X Plane and FSX. It is very easy to lose track of how much you’ve accelerated or how much you’ve decelerated. We need a readout in the cockpit, preferably small print in the windscreen.

That is only because Asobo “forgot” to provide a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to RESET the frame to 1X (normal). They have implemented a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to
ACCELERATE the sim rate, 2X, 4X etc, and also one to SLOW DOWN the sim rate, 1/2X, 1/4X etc, but I could not find a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to RESET the frame to 1X (normal).
On other sims it is possible, especially on FSX, a software of over 15 years ago.

Being able to call up a visual of your flight plan and position your aircraft anywhere along it, would be SIMPLE from a user standpoint and elegant rom a design standpoint. There would be no need for increasing and decreasing sim rate and watching your aircraft pile into obstructions as the elevation and terrain changed.

Ascobo, PLEASE DROP THE SPEED CONTROL and incorporate the excellent function for that feature that earlier versions already had!

eh, i dont think “dropping” a feature is the way to go here from a design or user perspective.

having access to an interactive flight plan in-flight is a good idea, but that doesn’t negate having proper time controls. they are separate, equally useful features.

Yes
I guess some folks like to be able to speed it up. I’ve just had bad experience doing that. I like flying at low altitudes and without autopilot. Speeding it up, for me, is like going down a mountain on a bicycle with no brakes whatsoever.

Speeding it up is good for long haul jets because it still burns fuel correctly, etc

I see that it has been asking for the simulation rate to be displayed on the screen for more than a year, but they have not fixed it yet. Is it really so difficult for developers to fix this?

Read this post:

I’ll Vote and I will do my level best to explain in a way what it is that really is broken and how simple it is to fix! I thought I had already, but since I seem to not be getting anywhere by all means new thread it and let me know how to find that thread! Thank you.

Myself included. What happens is in a rush to type something, you hit (Type) the R key and suddenly you are without a clue running at a different speed. With no way to know what speed it is. Although half and 2X are somewhat easy to recognize with time you have messed up what was a great flight.

The Shift-Z app actually shows the simrate.. very handy!

But that is my point exactly if shift z would be so easy why are you having to keep up with and update a mode for it! It kills me that the answer for every problem is “I USE THIS MOD–IT WORKS GREAT FOR ME” Yes well you have a mod fetish or something. Why not use a programmer who gets paid to put it in the program. Then you wont have a bug riddled Community folder 6 miles long!

I just want to say this to all those “SHIFT Z” addicts! There does not need to be a mod for everything that the programmers should do. That is why so many people are fed up with this update ■■■■. The community folder is for add on’s and mods, BUT the bigger it gets the less your program runs right. Then every update the mods will have to be checked. Why put yourself through such needless agony when there are 3 master programmers out there with a decent salary THAT SHOULD BE FIXING THIS! Not relying on a mod somewhere in some remote site that has to be updated !

I got Shift+ Z Stats and that appears to solve the problem of not knowing what speed one is at. It still is no comparison to being able to call up the flight plan and position your aircraft wherever you wish on it the way earlier versions of FS did. To me this is a huge drawback since trying to fly VFR at 4x or 8x is just ridiculous.

There is an easy way to see your sim rate. Go to Flightsim.to and download ambitiouspilots-shiftzstats. unzip the file and place it in the community folder. This will add an icon to your toolbar on the screen. Click on the icon or press shift-z on your key pad. You will see

  • Coordinates
  • Wind speed and direction
  • Airspeed
  • Altitude
  • Heading
  • Fuel remaining
  • FPS (Frames per second)
  • Simulation rate
This is just like the older versions of flight simulators. The sim rate will show as Simrate 1. When you increase it, it will go to Simrate 2 and 4 and so on. Click the icon on the toolbar again and the info will disappear.
    I hope this helps.

It helps. But you’d better reset your personal sim rate.
This solution has been given several times, the first one on June 15.
