On screen indication of sim rate

even if this was part of the debug info tbh

It’s in your control settings when you select ALL Then select MISCELLANEOUS go down to the 19th 20th and 21st commands as simply 19 Sim Rate (Doesn’t really explain it but it simply selects that to change with the minus Plus commands also under MISC. 20 Decrease Sim Rate and 21 Increase Sim rate. Here is a good question why when you mouse over the switch for your fuel feed in the Pitts does it light up in letters as Select Main Fuel tank or Select Auxiliary Fuel Tank, but when you try and set up controls for that they are not there yet there is a whole list of possibilities that may work that in no combination will, You can either turn the switch one way only or the other way only with controls, not one way with one control and the other with another. Try it set up the fuel switches to change tanks back and forth and do that without using the mouse and the curved arrow. And, if you do and I am an idiot after all would you please explain how you did it and how long it took you to do, Be honest. Is there no way to match what they use to set it up with what we use? Or do they not pay a flunky to use their Office program and make that right?

Crazy how this is still not implemented, got so used to the shift z mod but nkw also on xbox playing i miss this, really Asobo you guys need to implement this.

Some may not use it intentionally, in other words you somehow hit a keyboard key that sets the rate as faster or slower, if there is an indicator there then you would know right away that this happened, Without an indicator your first thought is going to be frame rate and not sim rate. That is why an indicator is a great idea!! I guess the people who don’t think to say something about this are believing it to be frame rate and not a sim rate issue. I bet that happens a lot more than the players or programmers know. I personally am starting to think that they themselves do NOT test the sim. They are simply going on what other people say. AND since not many players would know what happened that slowed down their Simulator fewer people are reporting this issue. I hope but doubt that what I said here gets taken into consideration. I am totally discouraged about the fact that anything I say that would improve this sim get shoved aside! Or seen as irrelevant, especially when there are others that are talking about this very issue but may not get as specific as I do because the don’t realize the extent of what all has happened when it does happen. //////////////// ( Hitting keys that do things that are undesired is a common occurrence, as without thinking people sometime go to use the keyboard to type messages etc. And instead of that happening you just changed something in your sim ) ////////////////// ■■■■ it I wish they would read and understand me sometimes. ONCE AGAIN THERE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE A MOD FOR SOMETHING THAT IS AS SIMPLE TO DO, AS THIS BY: ASOBO !

Completely ridiculous, yes, I agree.
Even after the last update 5, there is ONLY a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to
ACCELERATE the sim rate, and also one to SLOW DOWN the sim rate, but I could not find a
keyboard shortcut or else in order to RESET the frame to 1X (normal).
This is not only possible on other simulators, but even more absurd, it was possible
in FSX, 15 YEARS AGO!

You will most likely only be able to select Sim rate [R] from the keyboard, Then you will have to use the Plus { Plus – CTRL + NUM PLUS} or minus { Minus - CTRL + NUM SUB} Commands either through Keyboard or by assigned control that you have to increase or decrease the rate. You will not have one set on the keyboard as “Decrease Sim Rate” or as “Increase Sim Rate” . The Highly educated well financed computer brats would have you and others think that a guy that is as old and uneducated as I am doesn’t have a clue what he is talking about. “I beg to differ”

Well, I managed very easily to assign a keyboard shortcut to
ACCELERATE the sim rate, 2X, 4X etc. (Shift-T) and also one to SLOW DOWN the sim rate, 1/2X, 1/4X etc (Ctrl-T), but I could not find a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to RESET the frame to 1X (normal).
On other sims I have “T” for this purpose.

A reset option would indeed already help a lot.

So my question is how did you know what your sim rate was or is??? There is no display anywhere or indicator for that is there? Really? 2X and 4X how do you know?

Resetting is all low and then two notch up if you do not use addons.

I use Shift Z Stats but I have not tested it with SU5.

Yes, this Shift+Z Stats is a nice workaround for the moment,
Thanks to AmbitiousPilots.
But firstly, incomprehensible why Asobo did still not implement it,
almost one year after the release of MSFS, and even more
deplorable why there is no way to assign a keyboard shortcut to RESET the frame to 1X (normal).
Both functions and a lot more, were present in FSX 15 years ago.
But well, on the other hand we now have rhinoceroses, giraffes, flamingos, elephants

My point exactly! why are you having to add another Mod to this so called great program. When are people going to realize that a complete well written program doesn’t need mods to do what the simulator is normally expected to do? Mods, that an ongoing program that is improvised and then the mods will also have to be improvised each update! What part of make this program complete do you and Asobo not understand! How hard would it be? If I had a commodore Vic 20 using machine language to display the time in the left hand corner while it ran all of its programs back in 1984 using 16k of memory then they can certainly have the sim rate pop up in the corner of your screen when that has been changed to something other nam the normal rate!

Completely agree with you, Capntedy.
And even more so due to the fact that those features were present in FSX 15 years ago,
and as far as I can remember, even in previous versions of Microsoft flight simulator!
(Also fly-by and tower views, replay, no ILS frequencies in the in-flight map, etc
)
But hey, now we have rhinoceroses, giraffes, flamingos, elephants
 Even in the loading screen

Asking Nicely ! Please A single Digit ( WORK IT INTO not a WORK AROUND ) Place that in the corner of the screen when in anything other than normal flight. TO be done when the command to change the program rate is received before the rate is changed ! WOW what a concept. Wish you were here.

I agree that those should be integrated in sim without mods. I just put link there if someone didn’t know it. There is months when we wished a screen indicator and nothing happened. We got better starting map so there is hope. I wish they would do this, ebag and better in-flight VFR map soon (I use those addons).

Just reminding to Asobo that the “better in-flight VFR map”
was already present in FSX 15 years ago

And if I remember correctly, even in earlier MSFS versions

But hey, now we have rhinoceroses, giraffes, flamingos, elephants

I would support an optional sim rate indicator placed discretely on the scree. BTW can the sim rate speed be reduced below 1x - I sometimes wonder if I’ve reduced to much, which can be also be confusing.

Yes ti can go 2 below 1 so if your unsure what your sim rate is keep pressing reduce sim rate like 10 times then press increase sim rate 2 times and your back at 1

Earlier versions of FS allowed you to call up your flight plan while in flight (I believe that paused the sim). Then you could move your aircraft icon further forward or backward to position the plane at that location when you resumed the flight. That was a fantastically functional option and to me it should be included in FS2020. I’m using the far right buttons on my Thrustmaster joystick so button 11 increases the sim speed and button 16 decreases it. That works but the user experience in flying at anything over 2x is totally unrealistic and it is MADNESS to subject users to this. Why move backward in Sim design instead of forward or at least retain important features like that??? Just makes no sense
to me anyway.
How can we get Ascobo to adopt that old method that worked so well??? Is there some way I can start a vote thihgy on this??
