This is very cumbersome… And by no means an excuse for Asobo!
Besides the fact that 16 years ago in FSX, it was already possible,
and it is possible today in any other flight sim…
I have also noticed in the current build when I tap my keyboard bindings to increase or decrease sim rate it can often spam more than once, even though I am quickly pressing and releasing my keybinds. I noticed it using the PMDG DC6, which has the sim rate displayed and even a sim rate reset button built into their iPad. For other planes it is near impossible to reset the sim rate without an add on. The old spam slow rate then 2 forward rate no longer seems to be 100% reliable.
Well there you are… Developers, like PMDG, are doing what Asobo
should have done from the very beginning…
100% agreed.
This is a must have feature and it takes literally 5 minutes to program. Get it done, please!
What in the actual hell how has this being ignored after 2 years??? Why do you even have the option to change the simulation rate if you’re not going to display what it’s changed to???
And if this would be the only fundamental feature that Asobo is ignoring after 2 years…
Don’t get me started…
Has this been implemented yet? How do we reset the sim rate?
You can’t reset the sim rate. It is incredible, but so it is.
Besides the fact that 16 years ago in FSX it was already possible,
and it is possible today in ANY other flight sim… Asobo has no shame.
So depressing, PMDG had to do it themselves, implementing it in the iPad found on their DC-6…
So it’s pretty much a guessing game if changed?
Pretty much… Unless you are using the PMDG DC-6 …
You Know what, I have been a big complainer about this, and other issues. In fact I was one of the first few who said something on another thread! I hardly use this if at all (Unless by accident). But as I have said all along. Its probably the easiest bug in this program to fix. Unless it actually causes bugs with a lot of other things. That said they really truthfully have made huge strides at fixing things in this Flightsim. I am completely amazed how well it works now, as a realistic scenery featured Flight Simulator. I am through complaining. But like so many who have finally realized the waste that is caused by a work around used, or an add on that would always have to be updated from another site after every update or so. I just cannot for the life of me understand why a digit (-1 / 1 / 2 ) somewhere when you are at a rate other than regular flight would be so hard to do. I am literally remembering programming a working clock on the upper right corner of my TV! using a Vic 20 in 1985 in machine language and scratching my head right now. Really? Is this them saying It can not be done? Just a word from them would shut this up.
I also agree that they have made huge strides at fixing things in this MSFS.
BUT… basic, simple things like the on screen indication of sim rate, and the fly-by view,
among other simple features that, I can’t stress it enough, were present in FSX 16 years ago
and today in ANY other flight sim are STILL missing, after almost two years! And INDEED,
just a word from them would shut this up…
And, would you agree with me that an intern/ college student learning programing, would gladly spend time on all the descriptions given for control inputs in a much better detailed and explained way? Big companies today are blind to the benefits that they get from employing apprentices.
How much work and time normally spent enjoying this program ( Pulled off of the notion of paying attention to how to fly ) goes into “WORK AROUND” How much programming and updating goes into a 3rd party Mod? Which they expressively tell you they ( do not! ) support? --Now tell me: How much would go into putting a single digit on the screen when in a mode other than normal that already changes the programming speed why not an indication of that? Be honest! Think hard about it what would be the better solution. ???
We have 313 votes after 2 years, so only 687 votes to go until we make the magic 1,000 when this issue may get some attention from the developers.
I voted for this topic too, so I do not disagree with you about the need for an on-screen indicator of sim rate and the ease with which it could be accomplished.
Another easy to program on-screen indicator location would be to have a new sim rate icon on the bar that appears in any camera on any flight and in any plane whenever the cursor moves to the top of the screen. Whenever the sim rate is not 1x, a sim rate icon appears in the bar with the sim rate such as 3x. Click the icon to reset the sim rate to 1x and make that icon disappear. Dirt simple to program.
Thank you sir for the clarification on this. I believe I did in fact think you were saying it was not needed without realizing you were actually for it. Sadly though I think this should be a common since repair and not one that people should have to vote on just to get results. I keep trying not to complain but I find it very difficult on this issue.
Why would we need 1000 votes for something that was present in FSX 16 years ago
and today in ANY other flight sim?
We shouldn’t need votes to have functionality, but apparently to some extent items are prioritized by user demand (votes).
All of these other current issues with no or limited workarounds are also important to me, but I have no confidence that my Zendesk tickets for them mean anything until Asobo makes a public list of all reported issues and not just the small fraction of all reported issues that are included in the periodic status reports we see from the developers.
- SU8 - Fuel Dialog initialized with red on payload section because of a negative number in Max Payload. Corrects after clicking the reset button.
- SU7 - Intermittent flickering of landing and taxi lights, especially when moving
- SU6 - World Map selected arrival parking ramp or gate is ignored by ATC. SU5 ATC directed to taxi to the selected arrival parking ramp or gate. Confirmed broken using stock or NXI G1000
- SU6 - The after-flight log pop-up flight data and TOTAL digits do not align with column titles. After SU7, occasionally the display is aligned correctly.
- SU5 - Intermittent loss of sound and text from ATC and other aircraft on one radio when using both radios or when using AI copilot. Restored by using other radio tuned to the same frequency. Restart the sim to restore both radios.
- SU5 - World Map and ATC in flight often will assign the incorrect end of a runway for takeoff or landing so the aircraft will have a tailwind instead of a headwind
- SU5 - Tower ignores manually set wind direction when assigning the landing runway. Can no longer set a gate or ramp as arrival and specify the landing runway by setting wind direction.
- SU5 - At an uncontrolled airport after flying in from another airport, SU5 eliminated the ATC Announce Clear Of Runway and other ATC options after landing and taxiing past a hold short line
It would be very useful if the simulation speed I am using would appear in a corner of the monitor. For example: 2x, 4X, …
