Only 30 fps with rtx 3080

even when v-sync is tuned off fps stays the same

I noticed my ram is clocked at 2200hz it can go up to 3200, do you think that’s the issue?

Hi rob, which lg are you using? I’m considering the 34 inch 850-b. What is your opinion of the monitor?

Yes you do. It’s in the menu under the “Developers tab”. Turn it on. You will magically get a toolbar at the top of your screen. Press options in that toolbar. Scroll down and press “Display FPS”

If you’re running a single window (not popping out the VFR maps and other panels), MSI Afterburner and such will work fine and give you an accurate reading. If you serapate out those windows, the fps counters on those apps don’t know how to count that properly, as MSFS does it in a really janky way that no other game really does. So these tech sites and such have correct numbers, because they’re not separating out windows.

And you do indeed have Dev Mode. You can go to your General menu, and down at the bottom, there’s Developers tab. From there you can enable dev mode. It will add a small menu to the top of your screen. From there you can pop open the frame counter.

It may give you an extra couple of fps, but it’s not likely to make a huge difference. If you have a Ryzen CPU it will make a bigger difference than an Intel, but it will still be pretty minimal.

I think you really should try it. A lot of other games benefit from it.

I recently upgraded my RAM to 32GB, they are Ballistix 3200 CL16 kit. I ran them at XMP (or DOCP) 3200 speed from the get-go. And just by tightening the timing to CL14 alone net me 10% extra average FPS, same for 99th% and 95th% low.

However, at 30fps, that’s only 3fps gain. My system is chocked by the poor IPC of Ryzen 2700X and old 1080 Ti, which seems to pair well TBH :joy:

Another thing you can experiment with if your pre-built has good cooling and on Z390 motherboard, is to overclock the i9-9900k. The game is CPU speed sensitive especially if you have a RTX 3080, even at 4k resolution

Hopefully today’s patch can fix something there.

“Poor” is relative. It’s only about 10% behind a 9900K at stock speeds. If you can overclock it, it will put you within a couple of percent of it a stock 9900K. And of course if doing multi-core work, it will smash it completely.

This is untrue. His i9-9900k is actually quite close to i7-10700k especially when overclocked to 5ghz. The i7 is beating AMD latest CPU in this game, see thread: AMD 5900X/5950X Performance in MSFS

Maybe he can gain 10% by overclocking.

About my 2700X, it will never be within a couple of % of the i9-9900k no matter how much I overclock it in this title. The i7-10700k is already over 40% faster at stock speed, I won’t kid myself.

I’m also using 3080, ryzen 7 3700x, 32gb ram, nvme samsung evo ssd and got 35fps in vanilla A320 cockpit, 25~30fps with fly by wire A320NX mod

Thanks
I’ll try it. Also, thanks to crunchmeister

Am I missing something? The link you posted shows the the opposite. Latest AMD is faster in all of the charts.

Hi. the more temperature your graphics card has, the less performance it will give you. Check that you don’t have a high temperature. The graphics card does not always perform at its best due to this situation. More temperature = less performance. This is a fact in all the components of your Hardware. Maybe you could look at some tutorial to make O.C undervolt. You always have two margins, one upper and one lower. What matters is the lower, get less consumption and maintain continuous performance. Cheers

hey there! I actually checked and my GPU isn’t getting hot at all, I am not sure it is working hard enough. However, when I go to task manager it says it’s working at 80% I wonder if the update will fix it. (P.S I checked my GPU with a benchmark and it did go to 100%)

Can be a lot of things but slowly you will find the soluciĂłn you will do it.
Remember that FS2020 is not in the right perfomance , is New and they need to work on it much.
You have a good PC, be patient.
All the best

Fps limit set to 60. Fps achieves is 30. Exactly 50%. Sounds suspicious. Try turning off the fps limit and give it full rein.

Please always state your resolution and render scaling! Chromian2 has 4K!
If you compare 4K with standard HD or other lower res you will get huge differences in framerates.
4K definetly needs highest graphic power

I have approx. 30fps with I7-6700 + RTX 3070 in 4K resolution and renderscaling 100% in EDDF.
Most settings on High some on Ultra.

maybe because I play on a 55" TV and 2k just looks like ■■■■ there?

Were you expecting 300fps? Something is CPU bound. Try turning off all the Azure and online stuff to see if that improves performance.

Really?

I know that’s what they’ve said, they are just covering there backs, but quite frankly if you didn’t get a little performance boost given this is also rolling out to the consoles then I would start questioning the whole DX12 implementation.

So you should expect some boost in performance for the same graphical fidelity, absolutely.

I am running at 1-7700 3.5 ghz, 32mb DDR, Nvidia Geforce 1080 (not the Ti) - Exterior fps is 50-60+, interior is mid 30s, sometimes 40s if glass displays are not on screen (looking over dash, out side window, etc. I fly the A320 mostly.
TURN OFF ‘Bloom’
V-Sync: Enables the game output to sync to the refresh rate of your display - Enabling this setting can cause frame pacing issues, so it is advised to use the v-sync solution provided by your GPU control panel software instead.
Frame Rate Limiter: Artificially cap frame rates to the selected value - Like the built-in v-sync solution, this setting seems to introduce frame pacing issues. We recommend using the frame rate cap solution provided by your GPU control panel software instead (known as Max Frame Rate in NVIDIA Control Panel).
I followed the tips from this site and fps went up from low 20s outside to 50-60+
