Opinions about Msfs 2024's development

Almost 4 months after the disaster release of msfs 2024 Asobo is still working lazily to fix the bug!
The first question:the aircraft pc-12 is not working properly in carrer mode but it can be fixed by a mod in flightsim.to. But it takes developer 4 months and it is stiil not fixed officially,is it difficult for Asobo team???
The second question:The major vram bug is a serious bug that occurs almost 100% when you load into the free flight, but you guys are still delaying su2 beta, saying you are preparing for it to make sure that we can have better experience?I have been cheated for too many times!!!
Just put su2 beta out and let our all players see your sincere action,do not just speek by your mouth!

Actually it’s over four months.

The teams are clearly working very hard to provide a usable base and get everything in order. SU1 seemed to go pretty well but like many other users, my interest lies in SU2. VR is still really bad and the VRAM issue is pretty tedious.

The big issue I have is that the trust is gone and the excitement has gone. Despite a reasonable, thought out and open plan to go forward, this quite obviously should never have been released when it was. I struggle to believe that the teams thought this was ready for release, the volume of problems is just too vast. That coupled with the infectious pre-release hype that sucked everybody in, there’s a lot of damage been done here.
The excitement has gone because of the amount of hours I’ve put into this, I can count on one hand the number of flights where there have been no issues. I never really look forward to running it, it’s more of a “have a look at how bad it is today” kinda thing.

Let’s see what SU2 brings and if they can sort out VR & VRAM.

Frustrating yes. Asobo lazy or do not care.. No. Their personal and corporate reputation is at stake.

Job interview for a dev or an Asobo pitch for a new client: OK, so what was the last project you worked on? Err MSFS2024.. Ah, I see. Mind the door on your way out.

I think Asobo knew big time that the release was going to be a complete fiasco, but someone was holding a gun to their head. Of course they cannot admit that.

The sim is hugely complex and must contain hundreds of thousands, if not millions of lines of code and sifting through it all, rewriting various parts of it and testing the new code takes time.

We can do nothing but wait. I understand the frustration totally, I myself have gone through the entire rollercoaster of emotions as some “fix” breaks something else, but what else can be done?

post deleted.

Try telling that to all those who lost their entire Community Folders and settings last night to an 8Gb Asobo update! All purchasers of this SIM 24 have been very patient up 'till now if you think about it and they just continue to break more things than they fix.

STILL NO EXPLANATIONS about how to fix things, nor warnings about what they are about to do. Bull in china shop comes to mind!

I mentioned this a few months ago, but with the scope of FS2024 and the thousands of bugs that are evident to me, it will take two years to fix.

However, I do get some great flights but it is a pity that lots of my favourite aircraft and scenery are not compatible / disabled.

There is a long and frustrating road ahead…

From my point of view, the future of MSFS2024 will continue as it has begone.

It is too bad that one of the world’s biggest software companies is putting up with Asobo’s seeming lack of progress in fixing the multitude amounts of problems that plague FS2024 since its introduction. I said earlier that it was a big mistake to release FS2024 when they did and I assume it was to “cash in” on holiday buying. Too bad for the purchasers and users of FS2024. I start FS2024 every so often to see if the “bugs” have been fixed but spend most of my time on FS2020 or X-Plane 12. Lets hope they get all the bugs out and soon. FWIW

I 100% agree with you. Absolutely no doubt there. I was far better off before the SU1 update. It wiped out some of my secondary controls and will not reset them. The sim sees the controls and correctly identifies them, yet it will not save them. Just says “scan cancelled” as soon as you move the cursor away.

The only issue I rail against in these threads is that Asobo do not care, are lazy, or just trying to rip us off.

They do care, they are working hard to fix some very complicated problems and given the choice, they fervently wish everything had gone to plan on November 19th 2024, not the S storm it has become.
Whether the alledged marketing “person” ( i am being polite) at microsoft who probably was holding the gun at Asobos head cares is another point entirely. Probably not, he got his nice fat bonus cheque while Asobo carries the can.

100% frustrating yes. But never assume that Asobos devs are sat with their feet up on their desks, sipping champagne cocktails all day long, toasting another sucessful customer screw over. We see the best results of their efforts to fix the sim. God help us if we saw the failures…

 No I meant they are on their weekend off now that they have messed up everyone’s weekend. I am sure they try to work during normal hours but given the stony silence about how to fix this royal C… up, I can only assume no-one is in the office right now trying hard to appease the customers!

I have a huge transaxle out of a Liebherr 300 tonne mobile crane sat on my workbench at work. It has been fully disassembled for repair.
When the crane is not available it is losing up to ÂŁ2K per day.

Yet here I am at home, tapping away on my kindle… The customer is not complaining about it.

i absolutely agree,

the problem with this is that it is a matter of perspective
what working lazily means for one may not mean the same for another

i once had a coworker that arrived slightly past the time, went STRAIGHT to the coffee machine and spent a good portion of the morning talking about his weekend, moving around the office from box to box as each one of us got fed up with his talking… only after all that was done did he get to work at a leisurely pace
that guy would tell you (very seriously) that he had been all day working non stop on that project
now… i dont say that is the case for Asobo, but, there are certain things that make me think me and them dont share the same definition of working hard on something. Example: if this was my project, or my company, it would never have crossed my mind to close for vacations inmediately after a disaster of a launch. But hey, that’s just me.

It’s kind of like they lost their development team. 2020 development team did not work like this.

I find myself hovering over the 2024 icon and selecting either XP12 or 2020 instead because I know the experience I’m about to get will “just work”. With 2024 there’s always something to contend with - “Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That™️”.

Got this for 2020 - afraid it is connected to the 2024 mess from last night??

Don’t know?

I agree. Just like most major corporations, the stock holders trump what really should be done

Asobo lazy or do not care.. No

What evidence do we have of this though? The other option is incompetence.
Because the point raised about the PC12 is a very good one. They still have not fixed a bug that kills you and fails the mission for flying it at its intended altitude. A bug which a mod fixed, so it does not seem to be impossible to address.
You might say that there are more important things to focus on as that’s just one plane. I agree, but that’s a plane you see on your screen every time you start the game, running a career mission. Not to mention that most other planes are also broken in some ways, and have not been fixed.
SU1 brought a lot of stuff in theory, not so much in practice.

Also, fixing a bug like that of the PC12 should not require a major update (which did not even fix it) it should be done in a small hotfix (it should have been done within like one week from launch to be honest…

We really don’t know what Asobo is up to. Maybe they have moved on to another BIG more profitable project and FS2024 has been put on the “back burner” for the time being. Today it is all about MONEY and the software people are trying to make as much as they can. If this is the case then the updates and fixes will be slow in coming and since they already have our money there is no longer a “top priority” to fix anything…FWIW

They are not lazy or incompetent. And I dont have the impression that they dont care (atleast most of them). It’s lack of time and a huge amount of work (and bugs).

Bugs are a consequence of the work they have been doing, and, in a way, so is lack of time.
How do you explain the fact that certain issues take forever to be addressed, like the current phantom update bug. As well as the many basic but game-breaking bugs still in the game.

Let’s assume that they were forced by the producers (Microsoft) to release a game that was far from ready, that could well be the case. But now it has been 4 months, and the amount of inconceivable bugs still in the game is massive. This is likely at least partially related to incompetence, if we want to be kind and assume that they really care.

In either case, as they are the developers, the state of the game is primarily their responsibility. The current state is absolutely unacceptable for a fully released AAA game, and each day it become less and less acceptable.
