Only multiplayer traffic will be removed. AI and ground aircraft are controlled by separate settings.
It’s probably the models/textures loading in which is why the “generic models” option set to ON might help, but you’ll see ugly aircraft everywhere.
Also some people reported last week that they saw far more AI realtime traffic than before, maybe this now causes your stutters just due to more traffic being loaded/rendered?
Edit: Here’s the thread. More traffic always means more resources needed:
You need to turn the ground aircraft down as well. It’s a separate slider in the Traffic options.
LNM also shows parked aircraft that are generated using this setting.
In fact most aircraft at airports are not AI aircraft but simply ground aircraft. So dialing that one down should reduce the stutters on final far more than the sparse active AI aircraft.
Interesting … Selecting All Traffic, Turning down traffic to 0% still allowed Live traffic to be at the airport. On approach I noticed one plane landing and four others taxing or in the bay. Didn’t experience any stutters.
What do you mean with “selecting all traffic”?
In the traffic options set AI traffic to OFF and ground aircraft to 0.
In the data options set multiplayer to OFF.
This way you should get rid of all aircraft.
If then the sim remains smooth on approach, you got it confirmed that it’s the other aircraft that cause your stutters.
If you still have stutters, I’d suggest it’s the scenery or other addons/applications.
The reason why it started just recently for you is another topic.
OK - It’s got nothing to do with the traffic. I set traffic to 0%. I turned off Live Traffic and Multiplayer Traffic and still got stutters at 3.5nm from the airport. Which subsided by 2.5nm. Also confirmed in LNM that no traffic existed and visually inspected the airport from overhead.
I’m using the default scenery for this area. No addon airports.
I might test other airports to look for similarities.
Which runway are you approaching or are you overflying in direct course at 1500ft?
In Heathrow, the pretty dense photogrammetry of the city is relevant.
Also try resetting your rolling cache, just to get sure. I’ll give it a try this evening. London is pretty heavy for me anyway, but we’ll see if the distinct stutter happens as well.
Not just one location, but certain airports. Just tried flying over YSSY Sydney. Note I have the FlyTampa version but have flown into this airport more times than I can remember and never had the stutters I currently have. As before, the stutters start around 3.5nm and finish around 2.5nm when approaching the airport. Also tried a small airport that had a number of aircraft on the ground without any stutters.
Don’t bother friend. No matter the system, this approach stutter is happening whenever the sim wants or not.
I am tired of reading all kinds of “solutions” about cache, traffic, lod etc etc.
IT IS THE SIM !
Let’s just hope multi threading DX12 will solve this
He clearly said that these stutters started on Friday. Since there was no sim update on Friday, it’s very possible that something else has changed and can be reverted.
If you don’t want or can’t help, that’s fine. But don’t block others from trying to.
Nobody here claimed to have a solution, we’re trying to figure out what happened.
Just tried the exact same flight.
Stock C172 with stock G1000 (no mods).
I have Premium Deluxe, so EGLL is the “handcrafted” Asobo scenery.
Photogrammetry on.
All traffic disabled.
Ground aircraft, crew, vehicles all to 0.
Live Weather and Time.
North Europe server (the one with the best ping for me).
Settings 1440p ultra except for Motion Blur (off) and V-Sync off.
At 3.5nm before EGLL I got a very short stutter for ~3s, after that the fps dropped a few times again, but no consistent stutters for me.
The flight was 38-40fps, after reaching 3.5nm it dropped to 30-35fps. When overflying and turning to land, the fps sometimes dropped below 30fps and I had a few stutters but none of them were persistent, most likely due to loading of scenery.
The only thing I usually do which might or might not have an impact: I disable synthetic vision on the PFD of the G1000 since it tanks my FPS whenever I am close to an airport. Maybe give that a try?
Here’s a screengrab after crossing 3.5nm, there is a short drop but nothing spectacular.
The quality isn’t great since it’s a screengrab from the recoding I did from that short flight:
MSFS is loading a large number of objects at airports: aircraft on the ground, airport vehicles, ground crew. There are also AI Traffic or Real-World Traffic in the vicinity of the airport. There are also ships and vehicles near airports. Many add-on airports and World Updates have added additional airport objects. The AMOUNT of all these is controlled by various sliders except for Real-World Traffic. Often these sliders are set high to increase realistic airport activity.
The graphics quality of airports and objects at or near airports are controlled by the graphics settings. The amount of processing needed varies according to the graphics parameters and the traffic/ground objects sliders which is why FPS drops when approaching airports.
Adjusting both the graphics parameters and the traffic sliders that give you the best balance of quality and performance.
I recently tried setting all air traffic off and all the ground sliders to zero. The airports all appeared to be empty and abandoned with zero activity. Very not realistic!
What’s your computer component makeup? Cinnomionlnk8010 is using a pretty high end system, “System: I9 10900k, 64gig RAM, 3090, MSFS running on M.2 drive. Bandwidth is 30mbs. Running in 4K.
Win: Game mode OFF, HAGS ON, NVidia set for performance, settings set to ULTRA.” His pics were reflecting WiFi performance for some reason. As others have pointed out, there’s a lot of info being brought in that has to be rendered, possibly the feed source affecting the sim?
