So this bug is back again, even after implementing the various fixes, which work for one time, then it’s back to clear skies. Does anyone actually know why this is happening? Is it the local area weather update? (UK in my case) or something else?
Bug it is or not, Developer Mode clears skies for us. In my opinion, it is a feature. Cloud and AI traffic are dynamic things. Developers cannot assess and improve their product performance if hardware workload is constantly changing.
If Developer Mode is ON, set the switch to OFF position. It may help.
[Update] I am afraid it will add more confusion to our collective research.
Developer Mode clears skies only on my User Account which I always use when my computer is connected to the Internet. This has nothing to do with FS2020 – I do it for security reasons.
On my Administrator Account, cloud is pretty close to real-world METAR.
