Fully agree, my Pico is on ebay now.
How are you connected? Direct cable to router is always better. Re: pixel I won’t say anything - never noticed one.
Anyone else with problems on the new PICO 4 Update?!
Virtual Desktop doesent work anymore - I can not connect my PC → “Network Error”… Seems that the new update on the Pico crashed the VD
When did the update drop? I had a Pico update last week and VD is still working just fine.
I don’t know exactly when … Played 3 days ago and everything worked fine… yesterday I installed the new update…Tomorrow I try to revert back to the older version
which version do you have?
You can’t downgrade.
I installed 5.5 update last night and VD still works ok.
Maybe go to VD discord and see if they can help you
Interesting, I couldn’t get VD to work yesterday afternoon, now realise got the Pico update installed just before it happened.
Maybe there’s a VD update coming?
maybe VD needs an update… I reported it on the VD Discord server
VD just announced an update…
perfect =)
Cable or router makes no difference when you are consistently way over the max data data rate that the HMD physically supports.
Re: pixels, have a close look at a completely uniformly colored screen/surface some time
That new VD update looks impressive as they have implemented upscaling on the headset itself as an option. If you don’t have the horsepower on your GPU to drive at Ultra or Godlike, this option will upscale to those quality settings from a lower resolution. Should open the door for more users.
did you try it yet? Does SGSR work with OPENXR? Which settings are to choose in OPENXR when we use AGSR? I can try it maybe tomorrow =)
I haven’t tried it yet - just read the release notes. Won’t get a chance to try it until this evening.
We’re a little off topic here but just after I posted I got an update from Steam which sorted it. I’ll now go and find the VD update.
Managed to get the Pico 4 to run happily in Godlike mode with my 4070. Just a bit more tweaking now¬!.
If you’re still lurking in these parts, could you expand on this point a bit? Recently acquired Pico 4/4090 user here. Cheers!
In the OpenXR Toolkit there is an option to reduce the FOV, either a simple way or by manually selecting each axis. If you drop the FOV down it gives you a slightly sharper image. Too much and you begin to see black borders appearing.
Wait, if you modify the FOV values, doesn’t it change your zoom level technically?
I think that any modification of the FOV is in fact altering the perception of proportions and distances. I would avoid that.
The resolution in the Puco is crisp enough, and i prefer to lean a bit forward from time to time than losing my 1:1 proportion vs real world.
I have a comparable FOV issue currently in Xplane 12 whenever i use the Pico Streamer app instead of Virtual Desktop: the FOV becomes too low and i can’t adjust it. Image seems more crisp, yes… because I’m basically zoomed in all the time. But it feels terrible, the view is weird, especially when passing around. Unusable.
read whole thread and I too have Fuzzy white lettering in my Pico 4. I have played other VR games with 5800X3D and 4090, tethered Ethernet to USB-C and Godlike etc. Other games are Sharp! MSFS is fuzzy. I asked VD discord and they said I can launch my MSFS install from Xbox Game Pass without it being “in SteamVR” and it makes no difference. It seems people with Native Steam installs are also having this issue. So I’m slow ruling out possible issues. Planes with iPads as example, The iPad is super crisp but then the gauges are not. If I get close to instruments, I get Crisp text. It’s like the game has a Fixed Focal Length. Also If i change render scaling, it doesn’t seem to affect anything.
