Please Do Not Disable Simrate In Career Mode

Would you be unhappy if I used a tool like Cheat Engine to give me as many credits as I wanted? How would that impact you personally?

I’m not suggesting I would or should, just the mere notion of it. Are you also concerned about what planes I fly, or how I fly them?

I’m currently sitting in bad weather in a ski hut and have taken the time to read almost all of the >200 posts.
Besides the obvious ragebait of a few, I’m honestly baffled by some members of this community and I’m disgusted at how people can behave like this.

First of all, I want to make it clear that I don’t want to attack anyone personally with this post or even deny their own opinion!

I am a proponent of the sim rate in career mode and would even prefer it to skipping individual passages.
Yes, it may be that Asobo has admitted that it was an oversight to leave the sim rate in career mode. But there are still many things to change in career mode and maybe Asobo will read this thread and reconsider leaving the sim rate in the game. Who would be hurt by that?

But what I absolutely cannot understand is the brazenness of a few community members!
I’ve read through the “arguments” of the sim rate opponents and realize that the only tenor here is:

“Just because it doesn’t suit my personal taste, nobody should have fun with it”.

Seriously, who do you think you are?

You’re making up straw man arguments that make your wings wobble. Obviously these people don’t even play career mode, but are hardcore simmers who dislike any kind of gameification.
They pretend to understand all those who simply don’t have the time to sit in front of the game for 8 hours a day, while at the same time suggesting that we should be satisfied with shorter flights or to ignore career mode altogether. The fact that they don’t even realize how far these arguments miss the point of the sim rate proponents speaks volumes.

In my personal opinion no one has yet put forward a reasonable argument as to why the sim rate should be abolished or toned down in a single player game.
Why not? - Because there isn’t one!

I sincerely wonder where this hubris comes from to deny other players personal responsibility.
When I look at some of these straw man arguments, I get the feeling that they want to protect the players from themselves. Why? Why do they deny me and many others the right to decide how I play my game?

Of course there will be players who rush through completely, who have unlocked everything within two days and then complain that the career mode is too short and offers no long-term motivation. But I am not one of those, so why is that my problem and why do you make it yours?
To what extent are you opponents of the sim rate affected by other people depriving themselves of the fun of the game?

And to make it clear once again: If everyone is allowed to play the game the way they want, then that also applies to the hardcore faction.
Just because there is a sim rate or similar features does not mean that you are forced to use them, you can still play your missions in real time.
What’s so hart to understand here?

And if you feel seriously intimidated by other people bragging about their fictional money, achievements or amount of planes in a non-competitive single player game, you might want to reconsider your attitude towards computer games altogether. Because if that really gets to you, it might not be the right hobby for you.

So let’s be honest, it’s not even about the sim rate anymore.
It’s just about a few people denying others the right to play the game the way they want to.
It’s just about the fact that some people feel it’s their job to enforce something that, at the end of the day, they don’t have to decide for themselves.

I find that disgusting.

There is if you include the possibility of MS selling credits on the store. But it’s the only one I can think of, as there isn’t really a competitive aspect to it other than members…err, comparing members on the forums.

Simmer: My plane is bigger than yours.

Me: It was cold that night!

Career mode isn’t competitive? You can post your achievements online, share them with friends or they get posted automatically on the Xbox app. All of this makes it competitive.

This discussion is pointless. everyone flies as they want and as they feel comfortable. who cares about sim rate if you don’t have to use it. however, forcing people not to play with a sim rate is absurd. If someone wants a sim rate, they just vote.

Nope

Where is the leaderboard? Oh, there isn’t one.

That’s a choice you don’t have to make

Doesn’t mean you have to share them for others to see.

Again, no. What would make it competitive is if it was a multiplayer race, or if there were rewards for beating others to certain milestones. Nothing like that exists, and the only thing making it competitive would be your own mindset.

Career mode isn’t competitive? You can post your achievements online, share them with friends or they get posted automatically on the Xbox app. All of this makes it competitive.

No, it’s not competitive. There are no leaderboards or any other formal ranking of players. Posting achievements and sharing is not what makes a game competitive. I mean you can make anything competitive if you want but it’s not formally competitive.

Since sim rate is an allowed feature of career mode in the simulator, then when you look at any online bragging or achievements you have to assume that it’s possible they did that with the help of simrate. Although, some have found skip is faster for advancing your career than simrate… So, it’s debatable if it even helps you if you really care about these brags or online achievements.

That’s nonsense, friends compete all the time as described whether it suits it your narrative or not.

It’s called cheating… Do that in other games, not in a flightsim.

No simrate. Just hard work!

Congratulations… You have played the game the way you want to and you feel proud about that. We’re not telling you how you should play. You get to brag that you didn’t use sim rate (really I doubt anyone actually cares but good for you).

Now let us play the game the way we want to.

Lol, yes I brag to all my friends about my flight simulator 3 hour flight. Ha, ha, but little do they know that 3 hour flight only took 1 hour. I tricked them… My whole social status is dependant on keeping this lie going. I mean where would I stand with my friends if they found out that 3 hour flight only took 1 hour?

Call it cheating if you want but it’s all in your head. I don’t think of it as cheating and I doubt anyone on this thread who supports its use thinks of it as cheating. So, it’s only in your head and a minority of people who are all tied up in a knot over how other people play the game.

Seriously, I suggest you do an experiment to see our point of view and choose a cargo-medium run and use sim rate. There is a good chance, if you have an open mind, you’ll realize how much better the game is when using it.

Beautiful, HyperSniper1972. I know you’re just trolling but thanks for backing up my argument.

Edit: added the addressee + typo

He is right, I told my wife that I used increased simrate and now she wants a divorce :frowning:

I feel for you… If my wife ever found out, omg… I hope she doesn’t read these forums.

Make fun of me all you want. At the end of the day, you cheated. Those are the facts. And i don’t.

SHE! I’m a SHE!

I will NEVER use simrate. EVER! I have flown 12 hour flights, real time, because i like it. That’s the way the sim was supposed to be used. It’s called a simulator for a reason.

Come on guys, don’t feed the troll.
