Was ready to form a lynch mob before finding out it has nothing to do with MSFS, but was the Microsoft Gaming services beta I’d forgotten about signing up for!
I’ve quit the Gaming Services beta and deleted the software in power shell, then MSFS prompted the correct install of Gaming Services automatically.
Please edit your solution where you have posted it to include typing the command ‘powershell’ first. The powershell commands I included will fail with a terminal. The reboots are needed for people that automatically start Game Bar.
It works, I did it. I made one misstep as the instructions weren’t as a clear as they are now and removed myself from the beta when I removed myself from the LEGACY insider Xbox program. Don’t do that!!! Given that the solution didn’t come from Microsoft is was full of untested risk, which bit me. MS should have issued a correction and I shouldk now better that to follow random advice in the internet which has been changing every six hours.
I uninstalled the Gaming Services beta. I rebooted. Still didn’t work.
So now I get to type first command and second command. What first command and second command? And I don’t understand what it is I am supposed to be entering a Get for from the store. MSFS? Am I required to do a full reinstall?
Good to see it working for people. All credit for this workaround should go to @tamalien, who’s a moderator here. I just typed it up quickly as I was up late. Roll on SU11 beta 1..
I am very confused here. Im trying to follow PotentialTerrors solution
Went into XBox hub and left the Windows Gaming preview
Rebooted
Tried MSFS, still wanted disk
Started a terminal window
Had no idea what first command and second command were to enter in the terminal window, but I am supposed to get something from store. So I start the store
Tried getting MSFS. Wouldn’t let me because it was already installed
Tried installing for XBox Game Pass. It wouldn’t let me because I was a higher version
Went into XBox hub and left MSFS preview
Rebooted PC
Go into MSFS, still asks for disk
Uninstall MSFS
Install clean
Asks for boot disk
What exactly am I supposed to be doing a Get on in the Windows store?
Thank you. That worked. And I’m glad you answered, I was just in the process of copying my Community directory to the network drive so I could do an Alienware Factory Reset.
We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused, and I’d once again like to thank you all for your reports that have allowed us to help identify this.
You shouldn’t need to leave the SU10 beta, just the Gaming Services Beta. Then delete the Gaming Services software and try to start MSFS. This should prompt you to install the stable version of the Gaming Services and then MSFS should start normally.
Finally I was able to get it fixed stable, I had just need to reboot on each 2 powershell entry, not doing both at the same time, also installing game service after now all fine!
Ps:No one should uninstall or opt out, it’s game service issue, not related to Asobo.
