PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 2)

Not the Max, which is what I was replying to from @AppliedPython94

We know the NG is available for 2020 (I own every variant). They are beta testing a native 2024 version of the -800 right now so hopefully it will be released Soon™️.

I really really miss flying the B737-800 in MSFS 2024. The FBW A320 is nice, but I really don’t like the look and feel of an Airbus cockpit as much as an Boeing cockpit. The iFly is a mess in VR in 2024. I bought it and ever since regrettet spending that much money on this. I also don’t like having to run an extra beckground programm. I hope the beta testing is going well and that I can enjoy the beauty of the PMDG 737 in MSFS 2024 soon.

So I got two question for you guys, forgive me if they have been answered before, can’t read all the replies!

  1. Will the “coming soon” update of the 737-800 for the 2024 be also available for us who are still on 2020 or are we stuck with the old one?
  2. I am having some issues lately with the passenger versions of the 737-700 and 737-800 (cargo and BBJ work fine) where I’m getting massive FPS drops when I’m looking at a specific direction. For example lets say I turn my cockpit cam a little to the right, it goes to 5 fps. I return it to center and it goes back to full. Then right again, etc…

PMDG have stated for months that this coming update is a 2024-native rebuild of the product. The 2020 version may get some minor final bug fixes or tweaks in the future, but that’s it. The 2024 version is what people are waiting on.

I can’t help you with performance issues. I never had problems like that with the 737 in 2020.

Got tired of waiting for the PMDG in 2024, so i took the plunge and went for the ifly 737 max for 2024. I am really surprised how good it is. Took me a ton of time to program everything in Spadnext but got it working, even the winwing FMC. EFB I think still is working progress but is decent and actually you can set up the plane via the FMC. Sorry to abandon PMDG but its been a year (less 10 days) and the 737 does not seem to be close, they only say soon, last post by them was almost a month and a half ago. Customer loyalty is not for ever (PMDG 737 700, PMDG 737 800, PMDG 777 2020, PMDG 777 2024 owner)

Ifly needs to do is more Boeing aircraft and the rest will be history. When you know better …You buy better.

The iFly is fine. I enjoy it quite a bit. But it’s a MAX not an NG. Fortunately, it has its own thread:

As for the 737 MAX, it’s more than a little interesting that Boeing chose PMDG to develop Boeing’s new “Virtual Pilot Tool,” with the first model supported being the MAX lineup. Make of that what you will, but it explains why PMDG paused development of their own MAX for the consumer market. If/when they ever release it for the rest of us, I’ll buy it.

Thanks for the link.

for me PMDG should ditch the 737 and concentrate on the 747 and the 737max.

Fortunately they won’t do that. A quality 737NG is much needed in MSFS2024.

And the revenue from the more mature projects like the new for 24 NG likely keep the larger, long-term projects like the 74 moving along. Then there is popularity to consider: I will definitely buy both the new NG and the Max when it arrives, but I will not be purchasing any Jumbo Jet(s). While I may not be representative of all customers, the 737s are just far more numerous and familiar to many?

I miss the NGs in ‘24 and will buy at least the 800 and 700, and likely the 900/900ER. But I will also buy the 747. My first airplane flight ever was on a 747-100 in the early 1970s and I grew up watching them flying around the world. So the Classics are definitely on my To Buy list, along with the 400F freighter - one of my best friends is typed on it IRL and can tell me everything I do wrong.

Absolutely not. I have zero interest in the Max, but I DO want my 737NG back in FS2024. (but yeah, I would also like the 747, but definitely not by offering the 737 as a sacrifice)

They’re not ditching the NG. The 2024 native versions should be out by the end of the year; hopefully all variants but one might slip into 2026.

I’m disappointed that it’s further than I thought but well, nothing we can do about. I’m hyped for the NG, I haven’t flown it since I moved to MSFS2024 which was already in January.

It is pretty amazing how long it is taking to get the 737NG into MSFS 2024. I think the priority has been working with Boeing on the commerical project they talk about in the interview, which I am sure is majorly lucrative for the company. As somone that owns the 737 6,7,8,and 9 I am burned out on all of the hype from PMDG and the every increasing timeline to get the NG into 2024. Fenix, and iFly and others have successfully converted their airplanes to the platform months and months ago. I think we might even have the Fenix NEO’s before all the NG’s are released. I would doubt that PMDG will have all of the series of 73’s ready by year end. I am sure they will drag it out over months and months like last time in 2020. It’s just annoying as a customer that owns the entire series.

They said first time that all planes should work from day one in the mfs24, I was never believed this because I remember how many months they used with 2020.

I wonder if the Boeing project will finally make them upgrade to a U14 version of the FMS with all the intervening updates. 2019 wants its FMS back…
