PMDG 737 Discussion (Xbox Series S|X version)

The dc-6 marketplace livery pack is vol 1 and has ten liveries for the a and b variant so that might give you an idea about how they will do the 737 liveries.

Let’s try to calculate  edit: nevermind, it made me sad.

Dc-6 Vol 1 - 10 liveries, A variant has 3, B variant has 7, 1.6gb total size on xbox.
(Anyone know official dc6 livery numbers?)

737-800 has 4 variants.
Variant 737-800 has 41 liveries on PC.
Variant 737-800BBJ2 has 2.
Variant 737-800BCF has 7.
Variant 737-800BDSF has 1.

737-700 has 3 variants.
Variant 737-700 has 31 liveries.
Variant 737-700BBJ has 8.
Variant 737-700BDSF has 10.
(PMDG 737-700 and -800 liveries from PMGD Ops Center - Album on Imgur)

So 100 liveries in the ops center for both of the 737 variants (51 for the 738 and 49 for the 737)
I hope they don’t continue at the rate of 10 liveries per pack. That’ll be $50 total for liveries, assuming they include all of the ones in the ops center, and who knows how long it would take them to push all 10 packs through.

Hi everyone!

16000 hour 737 pilot here, very impressed by the levels of detail and realism in the PMDG 800 . Really appreciated the option to switch between Honeywell and Collins equipment and the ability to tailor altitude and fuel alerts to reflect my company’s settings among other things. Really amazing stuff.

Having the standard challenges with the spinning knobs and such but will add a mouse and keyboard (to HOTAS and Elite controller) and should eventually come to terms with it.

Thanks for all the tips and tricks to overcome the Xbox and PMDG quirks so that reallife pilots can have some fun too :joy:

Check out EditorsKeys (UK) keyboard for FS, it’s has all the functions printed on it, and it is illuminated! I recently added one and it is really nice. And I finally broke down and added a wireless mouse to the flight deck, a real game hanger for the PMDG. After only 1 flight, my wrist is thanking me. Cuts time on the FMC in half, at least. Good bye tennis elbow lol! I still prefer what Working Title & Asobo accomplished with the AAU_02 FMC keyboard because I find the Xbox controller a useful tool next to my yoke, but hey nice to have options even if the cockpit is getting a little crowded. Good flying!

That’s a sweet keyboard! Must admit to being somewhat of a bargainhunter and will probably just jerryrig something with my old pc hardware.

The HOTAS does everything I want controlwise including reverse/speedbrakes/gear/flaps/elevatortrim and some cameraswitching. It’s mainly the unbearably slow panning of cameras to be able to type on CDUs/MCPs/RTPs that’s excruciating when you’re used to just turning your head and flipping switches or resetting alerts .

Also having the AI randomly redline the engines when you turn over control for a moment is probably some setting somewhere I need to changeđŸ€Ș.

Thanks :beers:

Mouse and keyboard is a game changer IMHO.

I’ll stop spamming this thread after this one, I promise😉.

You’re all probably as impressed as I am by the PMDG 737s, for anyone that isn’t convinced yet: I have not flown much MSFS at all and I’ve had the 737 for like 3 hours but I just flew from Rotterdam to Stansted/typed in a transition to an ILS and VNAV/LNAVed my way into a perfect autoland. Apart from 1 or 2 minor knob glitches that the PMDG737 has this is a fully legit Boeing 737-800 as far as I can tell. :star::star::star::star::star:

Thank you PMDG

Edit: just noticed the radio altimeter is missing because AoA gauge is displayed
also forgot to set TA/RA apparently

Hello everyone,
about the 737-800 for xbox, using a controller, as soon as you put the throttle on idle, the reverse thrust is immediately activated and this thing becomes annoying. Isn’t there a way to set the reverse to another key or increase the time the key is pressed to reduce the throttle before the reverse activates? Thanks for the support

Anyone playing with the TCA Airbus?
It’s quite impossible to taxing because the throttle goes directly to 80-100%.

Yes, had no problem with airports that weren’t third party so I tried LFMN to EKCH in the 737, and there were black avionics that never came back and before descending into EKCH it completely crashed outright.

Looks like, what everyone is saying, the series X can’t handle the downloaded developer airports. No problem, as I will try the A310 and will stick with those other airports with the 737 when and if they are ever fixed.

BTW, the 737 and the 310 rock the Xbox sim!

Yes. Change the sensitivity curves to be dead straight and assign the throttles to the throttle axis axis that DOESN’T say 0-100%

It can handle some of them perfectly well, and some are a nightmare. There is a thread somewhere which lists which ones work OK.

Yes, do check out and contribute to my thread about 737 performance with high-detail third-party airports, in the General Discussion forum. I’m finding that, by largely sticking to certain devs (who seem to have nailed Xbox optimisation), I can completely avoid black screens/CTDs. Even airports that are unstable can be ‘tamed’, simply by restricting the use of the exterior and (particularly) drone cams.

I own about 30 airports and there are currently only two that cannot under any circumstances be used with the PMDG 737 if I want to avoid a crash: Pilot’s Alicante and FlyTampa Corfu.

Safe devs are Pyreegue, Orbx and Just Flight, whose airports all (nearly all in the case of Orbx — Rockhampton will crash if you use the drone excessively) work flawlessly with the 737.

Just flew from KDTW to KGRB on the 737 (PMDG) and it was smooth sailing, no black screens and no CTD. All good!

And what is the thread you make reference to?

Curious to see if anyone has tested this aircraft on FlyTampa’s KBOS? Picked up the -700 two weeks ago and I’ve haven’t had any CTD’s (yet) on any base airports or the asobo handcrafted versions.

Starting to introduce some 3rd party airports starting with Drzewiecki Design’s KDCA and had no issues with arrivals or departures. Although their version of KDCA has been pretty near flawless performance for me at least. I know some Fly Tampa sceneries can be monsters, curious on reviews before I shell out the money for it.

Continuing the discussion from PMDG 737 Discussion (Xbox Series S|X version):

I have purchased and flown into KBOS from CYYZ and CYUL several times and had no problems. I tried it as well with the PMDG 737-800 and all good. BTW, it’s a beautiful rendition of Logan!!!

Great to hear! Looks like I’ll have to pick it up.

I did a flight with the 800 from KEWR (Drzewiecki) to KMIA (Latin VFR) on Series X and the departure went ok with no issue and with air traffic turned off but when arriving at Miami area the sim froze and had to quit the sim.
