PMDG Boeing 777 status

Ok - thanks for that - very interesting. Boeing seems to lag a bit behind in their FMS software logics…

In my aircraft (Rockwell Collins) for e.g. approaches with vertical guidance (VG) are flown in APP (VGP) and approaches without VG (LNAV,LOC) are flown in NAV.) VOR approach strangely enough is also flown in APP (VAPP) to enable a higher tracking accuracy. Was not always that way in older Honeywell Firmware cockpits but the latest updates also have implemented the better logic with the introduction of RNP - it is a lot „safer“ now and less memes for pilots to remember.

I’ve flown every version of the 777 for hundreds of hours in MSFS 2020 and 2024 aside from the 77L, across two completely different sets of hardware, and never experienced this once.

So while the problem does exist and people have documented it, do not make the common mistake of thinking something is a “main problem” when it is very far from universal.

The fact that there is a market for 737 and 777 sounds, Says it all…… Thank you Boris

Is it available for xbox series?

Yeah I just got the GE90 set for my 777-300ER on Xbox series X. Set up, taxied and took off. Absolutely phenomenal

very good, I saw that on marketplace and there is three variants. So I waiting to decide after some feddbacks. But the GE 90 is my decision for while.

I’m so keen to see how this all works and then hear the beast 77W in all its glory. Unbelievable we are paying AUD$100 for an aircraft that needs a sound pack. I remember when it first came out alot of audio critics called it out. Boris comes to the rescue on console finally.

It is completely infuriating that there isn’t a simple system for the 777 like the 737 when we can just call a fuel truck, enter the amount of fuel we want, and have it load progressively and see the fuel going up on the aircraft.

That should exist in the FMS menus.

It is in the FS Actions section, similarly to the 737.

Per the manual:

Fuel Options

The FUEL page allows you to set the aircraft’s fuel load manually. Preset level functions on the lower left side of the display set the load to LONG, MEDIUM, or SHORT-RANGE levels. The fuel quantity may also be set directly as a percentage of the total quantity or as a total numeric value.

To set the fuel quantity as a total or percentage, type the relevant number in the scratchpad and then line selects it to the TOTAL LBS (or KGS) LEVEL line. The simulator will automatically distribute the fuel quantity properly between the tanks.

This menu displays the current gross weight, takeoff center of gravity location, zero fuel weight, and maximum taxi weight values for convenience.

EDIT:

Oh, I think I get it, you want the animated truck and simulated fueling process that this aforementioned method doesn’t do in the 777.

I’ve spent many hundreds of hours - probably a couple of thousand in the skies in the B777 - as a pax. mostly the GE variant. The PMDG sounds are very representative of the sounds I heard as a pax. Yes, Boris does make excellent products - I’ve got the CRJ sound pack which delivers on CRJ sounds (another I’ve many hours of experience as a pax ) where the default pack didn’t remind me so much of my own experiences. And that’s the point… sound is a very subjective thing, we’ve all got different opinions. I’m happy enough with the 777 sounds I’ve got at the moment and personally I prefer to leave it to PMDG - with all their knowledge and experience to update/improve.. remembering all the while that quality takes time to produce. Patience is a virtue but it seems to be lacking in a lot of recent posts across these forums even though the default fleet of MSFS aircraft stands as a good example of what happens when quantity and speed is prioritised over quality.

I also think the sounds are good but not $100 good, PMDG didn’t go and collab with Echo19 for subjective sound improvements. The pending PMDG 777 sound update will be amazing and what I expect for premium $100 aircraft. I’ll be using the Boris in the interim, a very bitter pill to swallow $100 77W + $7.50 livery pack + $15 Boris, it’s adding up on XSX

We have the MD-11 and other devs hitting it out of the park, competition is good for all of us.

I’ll never forget the PMDG 747 sounds in FSX, but times have changed especially in the audio world. No longer running red and white cables on a monitor, now spatial audio headsets Dolby Atmos, plus all the recording technology, the soundscape is immense and half the product IMO.

I’m tempted with this Boris sound pack, but to be honest I’m already quite happy with the standard PMDG sounds. I’ve never been in a 777 in real life so can’t compare to the real thing, but videos I’ve seen online of the real aircraft starting up and taking off, I would say the standard sounds are very close to the real aircraft. I especially love hearing the engines start up and gradually spooling up at 10000 ft. I also like to try and keep my SIM as vanilla as I can apart from aircraft and add on airports.

Yeah. I don’t like to just see fuel instantly set. It’s so easy in the 737, call the truck, set the target and it loads progressively.

So much more realistic.

Can’t even do it with GSX like you can with other aircraft. Yes GSX provides visuals, but the fuel just loads instantly to trigger GSX starting the visual fuelling.

It’s like. Let’s take a system that works really well and simply, but get rid of it and put this stupid automated ground ops that is a total nonsense.

Let’s not provide proper functionality with GSX that so many people use. It’s very disappointing.

I find the whole Ground Ops thing confusing, too.

Has anyone had an issue with the main cargo door on the 777F showing as not closed? The EFB and FMC show it as closed, but it keeps triggering a warning on the Door display page. I’ve had it a few times now and I’m not sure why?

Are you using GSX? If so, that’s why. GSX doesn’t understand, under the hood, all the parts simulated by the PMDG door sim and sort of brute-forces the door open, which triggers the aircraft’s warning systems. It’s a spurious warning that you can ignore.

Two workarounds:

  1. Don’t use GSX to load the aircraft
  2. Alternatly, go to the EFB and dismiss all PMDG ground service vehicles, stairs, etc. then once they’re gone, close the doors and ensure they’re closed. Save that as a new custom panel state and use that panel state as your default, or load it before each flight. THEN AND ONLY THEN call GSX to load.

Yep. Need to call call the loader for that door and then send it back.

I’d rather PMDG just fixed the LOD and texture bugs for us poor saps stuck with the marketplace version. PMDG refuse to move impacted customers on to the Ops Centre version so as a result I am sitting here with a 77W I can’t really use. Having spent well over $100 on 2 variants of this bird I am pretty angry that it’s still not addressed.

@TheFalconOne would love an update and some proper answers to my questions raised over your ticketing system.

It’s a bug that has been known about for several months now. PMDG blame Microsoft/ Asobo for being slow to make some update available apparently (“it’s in the next intake”) - funny it’s been broken since day 1 and every other premium developer seems to have been able to push multiple updates to their products since launch.

You will also notice weird wing textures appearing. Apparently this is Microsoft/ Asobos fault in how the aircraft is compiled/ encrypted through the store and needs them to fix it so we have to wait - again no other premium dev I am aware of has these issues.

Still, PMDG don’t apologise to their paying customer in their tickets or on these forums, nor try and work around it or provide other solutions. Good luck posting about it on their forum, and yeah, we have to wait an unknown amount of time for a fix because none of it is their fault apparently.
