PMDG Boeing 777 status

I am afraid I can’t do. It wouldn’t allow me anymore.

I just started my descent.

After the T/D intersected with the T/C marker, they both got erased and I was unable to descent with Vnav.
I have to bring her down manually.

You should still be able to descend with VNAV. Go to ALT HOLD for a moment, then reduce to your descent altitude on the MCP and hit VNAV again. To get the FMC to recalculate, you should be able to go to your LEGS page, then do a DIRECT to your next waypoint. That should get the system to recalculate your descent profile.

Interestingly I used to see this on the 737, when PMDG changed the simbrief cruise alt value and created “a more realistic” cruise altitude (if I remember it correctly). I’m wondering if the same change made it to the 777. So say simbrief said fl300 cruise alt but the “realistic” corrected value could be fl340.
I used to notice it because I use in game ATC which uses the imported simbrief plan (and cruise alt). So the only way to tell was to check the FMC for cruise alt change before departure, if you don’t then you constantly see the t/c marker pushing out because you never reach the new “realistic” cruise altitude.

Thank you very much buddy.

I presume this is why I couldn’t use TOGA by hitting the screw?

Having an incomplete checklist won’t stop you from using TO/GA

Ok thanks for confirming- power appeared to fluctuating up and down and I have the manually override the power output

Not at my sim right now but I always put my throttles up at max after clicking TOGA so that when it goes to HOLD mode at 80 knots the sim throttles won’t roll back to some mid-low state. Maybe that’s what’s happening? Or is it not annunciating TO/GA at all in the mode display on the PFD?

I’ll check again thank you!

That is exactly how you described it.

Lesson learned. Always cross check the set crz alt.

So it looks like the 777 is doing the same as the 737 with respect to modifying cruise alt to “realistic” values to. Useful to know.

Whilst we’re on cruise altitudes, and apologies for slightly repeating an earlier post, does anyone know what the sort of parameters or conditions are for the recommended cruise altitude to be shown on the VNAV CRZ page?

I have noticed that sometimes it is displayed alongside the optimum and maximum altitudes, and sometimes it is not.

Are you talking about the results of the PERF INIT? You’re free to change those to whatever Simbrief has given you. You don’t have to accept what the box gives you if you don’t want.

Solved my autopilot issue with the 777! (would not engage).

Apparently, a HARDWARE issue.

I have a Yoko Yoke, and doing some sleuthing, saw that someone had the same exact issue I had with the PMDG 737 with their Yoko yoke:

https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/pmdg-737-for-msfs/autoflight-manual-flight-navigation/278588-original-yoko-yoke-with-737-on-msfs

So I thought, “hmmm…wonder if the same problem with 777”. Yep.,

So I disabled the yoke on the virtual fly app (which I usually keep on), I calibrated in the MS game controller menu, and then assigned axis in the MSFS client.

BOOM! Worked, No issues and autopilot works perfectly. I’m flying woo hoo!!!

Probably in perf init, but by the time I usually notice it it’s sometimes during flight, so in the vnav section most likely. Yes agree you can change it to whatever you want IF you notice it before you set off. I have a bad habit of thinking it has imported exact simbrief values though when in fact it has modified cruise altitude to another value. It’s just a case of remembering to check cruise alt in FMC before departing and changing it back to simbrief value to match, or accepting the new target alt and requesting it from atc when you reach the original simbrioef cruise alt.
I suspect anyone new to the pmdg 7xx world would expect to see the simbrief cruise alt imported to the fmc.
It’s the only two aircraft in the sim that I’ve come across that do this.

It took about 7 months for the 737 FS2Crew release, so I wouldn’t expect it anytime soon.

I’ve given up on FS2Crew and now use FSFO. It’s far more configurable and doesn’t suffer from so many glitches.
Also I believe Matt is looking to release the 777 in the next couple of weeks according to discord.

Must check that out!
