[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 5 Feedback (PC/Xbox/PS5)

The initial download borked my sim. A first for me. I finally reinstalled the sim, cleared all cache’s, signed in and out of the MS store and Xbox app and things have returned back to normal. GA/VFR Performance has been great since. I do have the avatar issue, and resetting the RC works until I restart. It doesn’t seem to effect anything performance wise atm. Preset L performance @ 60fps 4k 4070 super 78003d..I still feel like the servers are a core issue of performance issues somehow..hope it holds

On PC, last night flew KJFK to KTPA. While landing in Tampa, massive studders. Never had that before in any SU.

I find if I leave my cache alone the sim does seem to get better

Yes I have found the same even with SU4. If I just left it alone it got better with each flight. As soon as I clear it, the SIM can be unstable for a few flights after.

Let it mature so to speak

@BegottenPoet228

Once again your new question isn’t what my original reply was for. I was merely pointing out that in my opinion it is possible to run a single base code ( or however it is currently being done) for both platforms. Of course for your new question as to why a significantly more powerful platform (pc) can run the sim better than an Xbox, well, not sure how to make that any more understandable than what is obvious.

Do you guys have this issue ?

Live Traffic on the world map & EFB does not match with live traffic once spawned

Also airplanes disappear after taking off (with real world traffic on) and spawn seconds before touching down. They are invisible in the sky

After a few flights in VR (RTX 4090), I have micro-freezes that I did not have in SU4 that was butter smooth for me.

Yes, but not always.

My freezes and stutters got a little better today from yesterday (horrendous).

If this is being caused by Server congestion ……PLEASE TELL US! ……..So I don’t spend 5 hrs as I did yesterday tweaking and experimenting with settings and user suggestions.

OR if it’s not that …..how about a RESPONSE to say they are looking at and acknowledging the more than obvious issues users are having with SU5?

Looks like many users are enjoying Su5 going by screenshots in the what did you do today category. Just hope I’m one of them when I get home in a few days

SU4 was wayyyy smoother for me.. idk what they did. I got a solid 50-60FPS in SU4 in heavy airport (iniBuilds DFW) with BeyondATC on too.. It was a little stuttery but not as bad as it is now. Not sure what Asobo did but they need to drop a hotfix to fix these performance issues. The fact we cannot revert back to old Sim Updates is very obnoxious as well. I would revert back to SU4 until this is fixed

Looks like we need a Twitch Dev stream ASAP please :loudspeaker:

The virtual skies, at least over Europe, have been absolutely buzzing with multiplayer aircraft this weekend.

For the people who are also effected by avionics memory issues or blackouts on PS5 or Xbox. You are not alone…

In fact it was very evident from a cursory read of the SU5 beta test reports that this was heading in a direction that was likely to cause serious problems to many. Once again -the reason I chose not to participate in this beta - it felt like the reports were not being listened to or acted on. Schedule pressures maybe. One or two of us actually reinstalled MSFS2020 as mitigation.
Now, so far, touchwood my flights have been trouble free with PMDG aircraft and the FlightFX Hondajet - have yet to see a memory issue on my Xbox Series X in contrast to so many others…
But yes, the evidence was there and it was consistent - there were clear warnings for Xbox. The poor PS5 users only had a beta that lasted a few short days - an afterthought… they shouted but it was already too late…
I believe there are some lessons to learn here, along with an opportunity to derisk development - these big beta projects tend to introduce too many risks all at once so it’s hardly a surprise that mixed or poor results are the norm rather than the exception..

+1 but probably not going to happen. They know everyone’s upset.

I wonder if it’s just me but I have the impression that the reputation in career mode is bugged since SU5. It seems to only represent the last flight! I had a nice “S” rating and then got one “C” rating due to ATC bugs on a perfectly fine flight (totally different but similarly sad story) and now my total career rating is exactly sitting on that “C” position

Based on the feedback, our only option is to let MS/Asobo investigate and fix forward. We may never really know if the root cause was related to code released that shouldn’t have been or vice versa, differences between the live and test/pre-production environments that impacted the beta testing or even geographical issues (do we know where the simmers experiencing these issues are located and which “servers” they are pulling data from?)

I sim on both GeForce Now and XBX, yesterday GFN had stutters on take-off, however, restarting the flight eliminated those. Heathrow (EGLL) had a lot of stutters and I was using a Piper 28 which I’d imagine has relatively low resource requirements.

Compared to SU4, it looks like I’ve lost about 5 FPS (45 down to 40) with the PMDG 767-600, Just Flight F28 and others of similar “complexity” - I’m OK with losing FPS if the resources are utilised elsewhere to eliminate other issues but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Today I used the C414 to fly from Vancouver to Prince Rupert Island - no issues whatsoever, smooth flight with great scenery - note that there was almost no other traffic in the area.

I’ve not tried the XBX as I’m guessing it won’t be great and I don’t want to add more negativity into the XBX landscape.

Maybe things will calm down a bit over the next few days, “we” will identify the root causes and get solutions in place.

Let’s be positive and look forward to many hours of happy flying.

Or list the mods they use, for that matter. We know by experience how mods can wreck the sim. Especially just after release, because the creators did not have time to adjust to it, or won’t at all.
Someone already posted this. First try without any mods to see how the core sim behaves. Then put them back in batches to find the culprit. There’s no other way. Asobo can’t be responsible for 10.000 mods out there.
