Quest 2 & 3 settings GUIDE - FS2024 and FS2020 tips & tricks

If you’d like to keep your full field of view, but can tolerate some ASW jellow at times, set your headset to 90hz and run the following commands as a batch file. It locks ASW to 30hz. You can run it during a flight or before, but it will return to 45hz if you disconnect the headset or reset meta link etc. It works well with 90hz since SU2 (using 572.83)

echo server:asw.clock30 > “TEMP.txt”

echo exit >> “TEMP.txt”

call “C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusDebugToolCLI.exe” -f “%~dp0\TEMP.txt”

del “TEMP.txt”

I use this method to stream on youtube.
90hz, 1/3 of refresh rate. (server:asw.clock30) (30fps, with ASW on creating 60fps)
This way you match the 60fps stream to the audience, (Absolutely butter smooth)
You can see this in action on my youtube channel FSPRIMO

So, I noticed that now I could choose the preset dirrectly from nvidia app, so i swapped again the original dlss files and tried the preset J , same quality but lot of stutters, i reverted back to preset K from nvidia app but the performance its same worse, should i swapp again the 310.2.1 and choose the preset K ? i don t unterstand this thing anymore .

Long time VR user here. Didn’t watch the guide, but anything that helps the VR community is good in my book. So Thanks.

For me - i9-14900k 4090 64GB RAM. Only ever use the Oculus app over the link cable (no VD or other special tools). ODT to lock in 45 fps with no ASW (1/2 my 90hz refresh rate at full resolution). OXRTK only for headshake reduction.

locked in 45 FPS almost anywhere on VATSIM with lots of traffic.

Ya, pretty well the same specs and I also just use meta link pc app with my official link cable connected to my z790mb usb3.2 gen2 type-c port. Maintains my Q3/Qpro heaset batteries above 80% for a very long time (+6hrs).

I don’t bother with OXRTK anymore and try to avoid all mods that many YouTubers say are game changers, lol! I do use the Oculus Tray Tool (OTT) because I find it handy to set individual game profiles in order to finetune super sampling and ASW modes. I’ve been using OTT since 2017 and found it to be very useful. You can still do everything it does manually though. Cheers.

Also, besides 45fps forced, asw disabled, (I use 80Hz refresh rate so 40fps for me) I enable dynamic encoding bitrates and use 900mbps as a max dynamic encoding bitrate. This seems to work better/smoother than using a Fixed bitrate. Also handy because the same ODT can be used for both Link and Air Link.

What are your in-game settings guys?

Its on the video.

Yeah, sorry, that was supposed to be reply to @SunlitAlpaca141 but “reply to post” didnt work for some reason.

If you review all my earlier posts I’ve made on this thread you’ll see those settings. Like everything VR, everyone’s systems and flying style varies so it’s up to you to find out what works best for you imho. Cheers.

Do the same here, with the 5090 and dlss with mod 1.5x we can do all ultra, and still never go down 40fps… Just reduced some thins to make a 20% headroom.

Please quit trying to tempt me into upgrading my rtx4090 to a rtx5090, lol! Cheers.

Thank you for this @TadeuPrimo!

I have a Meta Quest 2. I started out with Meta Quest Link and Oculus Tray Tool and had decent performance, but it never seemed to behave consistently. So I always messed with the settings.

Then I found Virtual Desktop, which was mind-blowing how great it was without as much need to mess with settings. But I am not able to have a wired internet connection yet, so after a few months, I went back to the Meta Quest Link.

I had made so many custom settings that no longer worked, so it was nice to get an updated tutorial on how to get better performance. Thank you for taking the time to make the video and the time stamps!

I’m still have about 97% GPU usage on my 3060 with the new settings, but the TAA is still very crisp, something I wasn’t getting with Virtual Desktop and DLSS. So I need to reduce the quality in quite a few areas. A new GPU would help! I also want to get a Quest 3 both for PCVR and to share with my kids, so what to get first?

I also agree with you that once you experience VR, it’s nearly impossible to go back! I tell everybody that it’s like playing in 720p, but you’re inside the plane.

This seems to be a very useful video. Unfortunately I don’t have enough computer knowledge to understand all the terms used by Mr. Primo. I watched the video twice and I still don’t feel like I can do it securely. I will watch the video one motime time. My Meta Quest 3 is working great, but the aircraft panel details are not sharp. That’s what I’m most interest with. Anyway, Great job!

You know that all settings can be reversed to the default value! you should not be afraid of test everything that I mention on the video.

Thank you. That’s a good idea.

anyone tried out the new virtual desktop features?

what sort of features?

2 pass encoding for nvidia gpus
vertical and orizontal FOV value changes directly from VD
Fov stencil

…2 pass… Google is my friend tonight

Maybe slightly off topic but I’m stuck on the fence if I should upgrade to a Q3 from my soon to be bricked Reverb G1.

Here goes:

  • I’m on a 10700 and 3080, would I be able to get a good experience regarding fps/smoothness with a Quest 3 (provided I get all the VD or Meta settings right)? Is TAA even possible or is it DLSS only?

  • For those who prefer non-wifi: How long does the battery last when flying? I understood that it charges even less this way than with VD and charger.

Thanks
