Hello everyone,
I was wondering why this problem doesn’t occur on all systems, so I thought it maybe has something to do with the version of windows 10 we are using.
It would be much appreciated if everyone could say which version they are on, many thanks.
Actually you see less grain when setting the Reflections and other settings to a higher one. At Low there are fewer samples and they are further spread apart. It is also influenced by resolution/render scaling (the higher the better), and of course TAA which is necessary to help denoise reflections, shadows, ambient occlusion and clouds.
So to reduce the grain in the reflections as much as possible, set Reflections to Ultra, keep TAA on, and set the resolution or render scaling as high as it can go. Disabling the sharpening filter can help make the grain less obvious too.
Finally have some time to check out this game. Love it so far. Playing on a 6900XT on ultra preset with anti-aliasing disabled and V-Sync off. Game looks amazing, but in a lot of places I notice strange grain looking areas.
I’ve seen this same exact thing in Warzone with my old NVidia GPU but I never bothered to address it. Do ya’ll know what option to use that will get rid of this?
Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:
In your examples it seems that you do not have any anti-aliasing enabled. Even though there are three choices, TAA is pretty much mandatory to help clean up the shimmering and to denoise reflections, shadows, ambient occlusion and clouds.
The problem does not go away completely, which is what this thread is trying to convey, but it will look much, much better than what you are seeing now.
Glad you’re enjoying the game, and welcome to the community!
You mean the pixelation on the building reflections on the water? The water has ripples and waves that reflect light in different directions. This look like a normal reflection behaviour to me.
Besides, I think the reflection settings apply to the glass reflection inside your cockpit.
See below on what the reflection looks like in real life.
Yeah, the building reflections on water (mainly) - I completely agree with what you’re saying, but to me, the way the sim is handling it still looks very weird. For example, look at the patch of water just to the right of the right wing of the plane in my screenshot. Those random pixels that are darker outside the area of reflecting? Doesn’t seem correct to me.
Hmm.. I see what you mean.. It just looks like how the building is shaped and the reflection might reflect the building a bit differently.
But to me this is just a minor issue that just so trivial. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Besides, why is this topic shouldn’t in Default Aircraft / Airliners category? Shouldn’t this be in Scenery discussion?
Yeah I guess it might be uncomfortable when flying VFR..
I never really paid attention to it that much. I never flew VFR before, I’m an IFR exclusive virtual pilot. I’m excellent in IFR, but I know nothing about VFR. Hahahah.
This is a chronic problem… this and the “dancing shadows” at cockpit. Maybe all those issues will be fixed when ray tracing arrives to the sim (and drop the fps to around 8 haha)
