Reinstalling MSFS2020

I have uninstalled the Flight Simulator so I can do a clean reinstallation (as per Microsoft instructions) . I then went to my account to reinstall it and where it says Install/play, press the button to install it but nothing happens. Please HELP

Stelios

Hi, you don’t install the premium deluxe.

You want to first install the basic sim. Next you install the digital ownership.
You then launch the sim… the first bit will install… it’ll ask where you want to put the rest… & it’ll download/install the main part.
Once done, go into the content manager and install the additional content.
It should all be done now, including the premium deluxe parts (assuming that’s what you own)
:grinning:

Thanks works now.

It took me to the content manager and I pressed update. Is it going to install all the 120GM again?

Downloading is only 2.5Mbits/sec !!!! so in 4 days it will be completed and in the meantime I must go back to pilot training school…

By the way I have done what Miscosoft said to increase the speed but no luck and one thing they said is that when you restart the PC it will start downloading from the place you left it but alas no such luck it started from the beginning again…

What does the first paragraph mean? and how and where do you move it if there is a problem.

Modified airplanes and free modified add-ons/fixes are placed in the community folder. This may increase the load time when starting the sim. Since their creators vary, its contents will not update on their own.

I’m assuming you do not have any mods installed at this time so don’t worry about it.

More information on locating the folder:Community Folder Part X

You would move the contents anywhere else to see if that is the problem with loading. You can also get a community folder manager which creates and deletes shortcuts in the community folder (works the same as if the files are actually located there). That way you can enable only the mods you wish to use at that time. I personally haven’t experienced much increase in load time and have a few gigs worth of mods.

Thank you so much for your reply. Actually the reason that I am reinstalling the Flight simulator, is because I have added a Livery of the Dreamliner in the Community folder and this messed up the Auto Pilot of the 787. Can this happen? So from now on I am only going to install add- ons only within the market folder of the Simulator.

It’s possible but unlikely I would think. All you would have needed to do to test would have been to delete the file from the community folder and the issue may have disappeared. Things in the community folder do not permanently change anything in the files in the official folders.

I finally downloaded the basis simulator as you said and when I launch it it tells me that there is a new mandatory update to install and I must go to Microsoft Store to get it. When I go there and find the simulator page there is no install updates button

. So I am stack. How can I get this critical update?

Stelios

Hi Stelios, I too have just launched MSFS and got the same message. Only, when I pressed ok…the store opened showing MSFS and it started updating automatically.

If yours didn’t do that, then I suggest going into updates… click the three dots at the top right of the store. Then click “downloads and updates”
Hopefully you will see MSFS and will be able to update it.

Now all of a sudden it started updating via the game its self without going to the store…
