RELEASE NOTES Sim Update 6 Beta - 1.8.5.0

If you are playing on PC, outdated packages in your community folder may have an unexpected impact on the title’s performance and behavior.

If you suffer from stability issues or long loading times, move your community package(s) to another folder before relaunching the title.

New Content and Features

  • Overhauled the visual of the reward screen in world photographer
  • A notification is now displayed when a logbook entry is added to the logbook while in freeflight
  • Added lights on generic airports, other improvements will happen in SU6.
  • Following community feedback, we added an option to start flight without walkaround, in “Free Flight” game mode. Find this new option in the assistance settings.
  • Added the tooltip to the buttons of the toolbar when they are hovered

Stability & Performance

  • Fixed an issue where on rare occasions going in the World Photographer menu would soft lock the game.

General Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where users that weren’t group leaders could modify their own local weather by opening the weather panel causing a desync with the whole group
  • The order of the online settings is now consistent between platforms.
  • Fixed an issue where changing the cockpit interaction system on consoles would not properly save the setting.
  • Fixed an issue where changing the frequency of the ATC using the buttons present on the cockpit would not correctly update the ATC panel
  • Fixed the data in the fuel and payload and the EFB were not the same in the plane customizations
  • Fixed Taxi Ribbon sometimes cutting straight through the airport and over the grass
  • Fixed an issue where changing the text size of the game while a panel was opened in panel could make some panels appear to be cut off.
  • Fixed an issue where subtitles could be cut off noticeably earlier than the voice over in certain conditions

  • In live activity, departure and arrival are now sorted by time (Departures are sorted by departure time while arrivals are sorted by arrival time)
  • Fixed overlapping company names for Charter Service - VIP by adding a marquee to properly display long strings.
  • Fixed aviator performance tags overflowing progress and gap values when new lines were added, causing incorrect vertical alignment.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Live” button was selectable when the “Live Weather option” was off in the online settings
  • Fixed a small visual issue where the toggle elements could have the wrong style when clicking

Install, Performance & Graphics

  • Added DLSS 4.5 support (used as default native upscaler), and Dynamic Frame Generation with ingame VSync support.
  • Improved Texture/LoD popping inside the cockpit
  • Fixed Raymarched Shadows at far distance
  • Added FSR4 support.
    • Please note that, from now, in the settings, you only chose to use the AMD FSR or not. Which version will be used is set by your GPU driver.

Backwards Compatibility Bug Fixes

  • Fixed blurry secondary aerials in certain areas.

Aircraft

  • Fixed an issue that caused some cockpit interaction to have a reduced hitbox.
  • Fixed an issue causing the fuel lines of the 172, AT802, DA62, and E330 to be oversized, causing the aircraft to take longer than it should to shut down once running out of fuel.
  • Fixed an issue causing the AS21 Transponder SimAttachment to be too dark at night
  • Prevented the G-Force LOC effect and structural damage crash due to speed from triggering when in active pause.

Airbus Helicopters H125

  • Fixed an issue causing a few warning lights to be active after an autostart
  • Fixed an issue preventing the H125’s collective to be operated with the mouse while in VR

Cessna 172 Skyhawk

  • Fixed display of an empty “Not categorized” main category in the control settings

Aircraft Core Systems

  • Extended the maximum range to receive NAV radios to allow extended range stations.
  • Fixed increasing error in glideslope deviation calculation when getting closer to the runway.

Electricity system

  • Improved system update for better loops and alternative paths detection, allowing a better load sharing among buses. Version 2.3 and up required.
  • Add new property to buses in runtime graph: is conducting electricity
  • Add tension going through lines, displayed in the electrical debug window and electrical system runtime graph.
  • Fixed transformers creating tension from 0V. Now a tension dropped by a component on a line to 0V will remain at 0. Version 2.3 and up required.
  • Added a text indicating the version of the system loaded in the sim in the debug window menu bar.
  • Added localvars to numerical values possibilities in cfg param definitions (in addition to simvars and globalvars).
  • Fixed batteries charge c rate not being initialized with a default value when parsing a cfg and none is given. Version 2.3 and up required.

Hydraulic System

  • Addition of Actuator parameter “DropPressure” to specify under which pressure actuator cannot move at all. When not set in the cfg, defaults to zero on hydraulics version 1, and to 10% of actuator MinimalPressure on the newly created version 2 (specified in the cfg hydraulics EX1 section).
  • This prevent actuators from moving only using the 14psi of ambient pressure, which should clearly not be possible, without breaking retro compatibility thanks to the new version.
  • Added settable behavior for simvars SIMVAR_HYDRAULIC_PTU_ACTIVE and SIMVAR_HYDRAULIC_PTU_DIRECTION.

Pneumatic & ECS System

  • Changed Outflow Valve behavior from managing cabin pressures to managing cabin alt rates, allowing it to restrict (as much as it can) the cabin climb. Change is Opt-In behind Pneumatics Version 2.
  • Separated Pack logic from Engine bleed logic. Addition of settable SimVar PNEUMATICS_ENGINE_BLEED_FLOW_RATIO to get and control engine bleed.
  • Added Pneumatics Version 2. In Version 2 Electric valves turn on and off their respective electric circuit on their own.

Glass Cockpits

Garmin G3000 / G5000

  • Updated the layout of the GTC Weather Radar Settings page to match newer software loads of the real G3000.
  • Weather radar automatic stabilization is now disabled if attitude data are not available from AHRS.
  • Fixed an issue with the GTC Initialization page where the Button Bar scroll buttons did not scroll the initialization tasks list.
  • Added the ability to control weather radar tilt and bearing (if the airplane is configured with a weather radar).

Garmin GNS 430/GNS 530

  • The manual screen backlight setting can no longer be adjusted below zero.
  • Fixed an issue where the dialog to change the screen backlight mode in the GNS 530 AUX display page was not visible.
  • Fixed an issue where the manual screen backlight setting did not work for configurations with more than one GNS 530 unit or more than one GNS 430 unit.

Pro Line 21 Integrated Avionics System

  • Fixed multiple issues where sending a flight plan to avionics from the EFB could result in an incomplete route.

UNS-1Ew SBAS-Flight Management System

  • LNAV CDI Scale value is now computed and published.
  • Added glidepath support to the UNS by implementing a new glidepath computer.
  • Load the default roll and pitch modes from simvars (and therefore [AUTOPILOT] default_bank_mode and default_pitch_mode).
  • Enabled look ahead turn anticipation for better turn tracking.

Avidyne IFD550/IFD540

  • Load the default roll and pitch modes from simvars (and therefore [AUTOPILOT] default_bank_mode and default_pitch_mode).
  • Fixed an issue where the terrain awareness overlay could briefly move with the map while panning instead of staying anchored to the aircraft position.

Physics

  • Fixed cloud updrafts sometimes happening while misaligned with visible clouds (wrong wind based offset computation).

Flight System

CFD simulation

  • Added maximum draw distance for wake turbulence displays to improve draw performance.
  • Thermals airflow visualization now also displays downdrafts including mountain Foehn.

NavData

  • Aligned ILS localizers and glideslopes with runways when they are not intentionally offset.
  • Added threshold crossing height for glideslope.
  • Added GBAS/SBAS path points and GLS facilities (but not yet GLS approaches).
  • Added boundary designation (short name), and comm frequency sector bearing/altitude/distance restrictions.
  • Added LPV200 flag for approach navigation data.

EFB

  • Fixed the value of “is post boarding”. It was retrieving the values of all cabin services while it
  • should only get the one of the passenger boarding service
  • Fixed the slider was still interactable while the deviation limit was 0
  • Fixed the weather TAF did not correctly display the evolution of data over time, specifically after baseline changes (BECMG and FM)
  • Fixed an issue where the EFB could flicker continuously when changing the windowed screen resolution

Minimap

  • Fixed the drag was not stopping when you the mouse left the minimap

Aircraft Gameplay

External HUD

  • Fixed an issue that caused the battery HUD element not to actually show the battery’s remaining capacity.

Career

  • Added location info in all companies fleet overview
  • Added a button in the briefing page to display the information of the departure or arrival runway in the EFB

General Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the skipping step could be unnecessarily greyed out in career mode

World

  • Fixed “force active lod” not working correctly with instanced models. Fixed rare blinking issue with instanced models.

Airports

  • Fixed painted line glitching above ~11’000 elements
  • Removed some trees that are too close to the runway

Generic Airports

  • Fixed difference between taxiway and runway lights

Vegetation

  • Improved Normal Map of Pinus Sylvestris, Pinus Pinaster and Artemisia Tridentata

Virtual Reality

  • Fixed an issue where the player view would move before the fade out when exiting pause and the photo mode in virtual reality
  • PSVR2: Further improvements to the graphics pipeline, leading to a better resolution at the center of the field of vision, better performances, and lower memory cost.
  • PSVR2: Fixed Night Vision effect
  • Added a smoothing effect when releasing the “Grab yoke” VR controllers interaction.
  • Modified VR Controllers default mapping :
  • Changed “TAKE CONTROL OF CHARACTER” and “PHOTO MODE TOGGLE” to [Trigger + Squeeze + Bottom/Top buttons] respectively
  • Added “Cockpit Interaction Increase/Decrease” to [Squeeze + Top/Bottom buttons]
  • These new actions will be useful if you have to interact with any system that is too sensitive to motion controls
  • Fixed an issue where a missing term was in the “No recenter binding” popup in VR when the “Recenter VR” binding was unbound.
  • Removed 25% OutDeadzone on some VR Controllers sticks
  • Fixed aggressive trees LoD transition
  • Improved Raymarched Shadows in foveated Region (which removes disturbing outline around objects)
  • PSVR2: Improved the quality of the clouds.
  • Fixed Quad View resolution scaling.

Controls

  • Fixed inverted behaviour for “DISPLAY VISUAL ASSISTANCES OFF” and “DISPLAY VISUAL ASSITANCES ON”
  • Renamed eye and head trackers actions, they now start with “EYE/HEAD TRACKING”. Also changed description.
  • Fixed DECREASE THROTTLE (SMALL) being hidden inside control settings

Red Bull Races

  • Fixed the warning sound when going out of bound in Red Bull during practice mode was not accelerating

World Photographer

  • Fixed an issue where the world photographer panel was not updating after a picture was taken and validated
  • Fixed an issue where the animations on the world photographer stars would play even when it wasn’t necessary
  • Fixed an issue where after taking a picture, the collection page would not properly refresh the order of the collections to display the most completed one first until going back to the main menu

Audio

  • Fixed an issue causing some sounds to be repeated when the emitting instrument is out of the view frustum.

DevMode

  • Fixed VFS Browser listing less files than the VFS Projector
  • Added a new “Legacy vs Modern Aerodynamics” Debug sub-window within the “Debug Aircraft Legacy” Debug window (also accessible via “DebugAircraftLegacyVsModernAerodynamics” console command) for detailed and accurate comparison of aerodynamic force and moment between Legacy and Modern FMs (for airplanes and gliders only).
  • Removed the console command “DebugAircraftSimLegacyForces”. This command visualized the total force computed by Modern FM (which could be incorrect depending on the active FM setting) instead of the total force computed by Legacy FM.
  • Removed the console command “DebugAircraftSimDimensions” and the corresponding DevMode window “Debug/Aircraft/Sim Dimensions”. The tool relied on legacy visualization of aircraft geometry based on simplified primitives and a Legacy vs Modern FM comparison that did not accurately represent force and moment differences and could lead to misleading interpretation of debug data.
  • Fixed SPB Compiler not flagging some XML errors in source files (could lead to corrupted SPBs and crashes in the sim)

General

  • Prevent switching to dev cam while game is in teleport state to avoid camera issues
  • Changed the way we compute mouse coordinate while using Smart Docking System option. This fixes some mouse interaction issues with mouse related debugs.
  • Renamed “Flight Plan” section of Debug menu to “Flights”
  • Added new Travel book debug in the Flights section of the Debug menu
  • Properly disable developer camera when enabling slew mode to avoid confusion in the menu
  • Added bounding sphere column in SimObject Statistics / Live Stats
  • Removed duplicated “Show/Hide GUI” button from Video capture tool

Scenery Editor

  • Fixed objects list not always up to date with modellibs.
  • Faster update for airports with numerous taxipoints
  • Renamed “Importer from APX” to “Airport XML importer” and fixed crashes.
  • Added parking light object.
  • Added new option “ParkingLightMesh” in airport archetype.
  • More precise position for rectangles and polygons in BGL (30cm to 1mm)
  • Added new option to allow polygon vegetation override to use TIN tree spawn algorithm
  • Removed broken option to move selection up/down in the scene tree. Use drag and drop instead
  • It’s now possible for a polygon to render material and override vegetation/secondary heightmap at the same time.
  • Rectangle object: prevent profile creation when heightmap is used and vice-versa.
  • Improved vegetation polygon precision.
  • Fixed unwanted rotation upon adding object in SPC edition.
  • Fixed some characters in object names causing BGL compilation errors

  • Made some batteries properties read only as they were always overwritten by the system.
  • Fixed duplicate property remaining capacity
  • Added new properties to show in runtime graph: average tension, average load, the battery is powering consumers or not, number of powered consumers
  • [Added “on and powered” state for circuits, indicating that the circuit has been switched on and receives enough tension to function
  • Added runtime information on lines in the electrical system graph relative to their connection state (switch, breaker, relay)
  • Fixed electrical relays not having data in system editor runtime graph
  • Removed the Inputs tab and move everything it contained to the Input Profiles Editor
  • Fixed section specialization from livery.cfg not up to date

  • Added frequency name and type to the facility explorer.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the BGL compiler to add holding patterns to multiple airports rather than just the intended one.
  • Restored KEY_PAUSE_TOGGLE key event
  • Enabled KEY_PAUSE_ON and KEY_PAUSE_OFF is every context

SimConnect

  • Add support for mouse events in SimConnect with the MapInputEventToClientEvent function.

SimVars

  • Added simvar ELEVATOR TRIM PCT EX2. This simvar returns the trim level in percent, with the -100%->0% range being used for the down trim while 0%->100% is used only for the up trim. This means that setting 0 trim will also result in that simvar returning 0%.
  • Used that simvar in the HUD display for trim, which fixes some errors which caused the HUD to display the trim at 100% before it actually reached the max in cases of asymmetric trim.
  • Also added a way to specify that the ASOBO_Elevator_Trim_Settings_Config should use that simvar (opt-in) by setting the parameter USE_EX2_SIMVAR to true.
  • Added some simvars to allow the Baro Setting to be retrieved even in STD mode
  • Added a cfg param to allow the AP Heading to maintain current rotation direction.
  • Added the FREEWHEELING_UNIT_ENGAGED SimVar, which controls whether each helicopter engine transmits torque to the rotor system. See SDK for details.

WASM API

  • Fixed terrain visible in weather radar top view after max radar range (250km), now the no rain color is rendered
  • Fixed gradient not rendered correctly when alpha < 1

JS API

  • Added runway lighting information.
  • Added a route index that allows looking up routes by name.

Exporter 3DSMAX

  • Fixed initialize Wiper Mask Tool

Exporter Blender

  • Fixed incorrect texture color space when the same texture is used in both sRGB and Non-Color inputs.
  • Support export of linked materials.

Documentation

  • Hydraulics documentation (Pumps and Actuators) has had a few parameter description updates to fix wrong information.
  • All mention of “UVmap2” for Blender has been removed from the documentation, as both Blender and 3DS Max now both use “UV2” references.
  • Obsolete “Lod Curve” option removed from the Options menu documentation.
  • New “Version” number added to Hydraulic system documentation, and hydraulic actuator documentation updated with new “DropPressure” map entry (and improved key descriptions).
  • Helipad scenery object page updated with additional information on taxiway point setup.
  • The “Creating Or Replacing An Airport” tutorial page has been refreshed to bring it in line with the current DevMode status.
  • SimConnect: Fixed SIMCONNECT_RECV_EXCEPTION documentation to show correct “unknown” examples.
  • Update to the Tools > Package Reorder Tool section to reflect minor changes to the tool window and workflow.
  • WASM documentation has been updated to include new “update” callbacks (see the “Update Callbacks” page in the Programming APIs > WebAssembly section).
  • Added additional details to the froude_krylov_scalar in the flight_model.cfg documentation.
  • New section added to FLT Information page to explain custom content mission ordering in the UI. Accompanying “difficulty” parameter has been added to the FLT File Properties page as well.
