Thanks for the quick but detailed reply, cheers!

Flew into YOW last night and noticed parts of the jetways missing. Purchased scenery yesterday as well, so should be up to date.

Those are default MSFS objects, only the signs are custom. Somehow for some people, those objects randomly appear and disappear. It’s MSFS bug of some sort, that may be triggered sometimes by interacting with Ottawa signs. Sometimes only one or two are missing, in your case more, most people don’t see the problem at all. As it’s a bug I don’t see a clear fix. But I will be working on an update soon and I will review this issue and see if I can do anything at all. Worst case, I can delete the signs and maybe that will stop it from happening.

Could these be part of a library that came with an Asobo airport that the user uninstalled in order to replace it with a 3rd party airport?

Definitely not, it’s part of a standard toolkit. I have no explanation for this, it’s just a bug. You will see this section at any default airport jetway and many of the 3rd party ones.

Hi @RomanDesign ,
Any chance you could release an update for CYOW where the glass terminal windows don’t appear completely black through the fog? The workaround with glass not working in fog is relatively simple, do a lower LOD object where the only difference is replacing Glass with Standard material with roughness 0 (and approximately the same color as glass). On that lower LOD object you can also remove the terminal interior since it’s blocked now (and not really noticeable at distance anyway) and increase performance a bit.

I notice this issue every time we have fog or haze in Ottawa.

This is an airport I really would like, however I’ve never been a fan of default SDK jetways — are they custom now or still as they were at release?

This is an MSFS bug that is supposed to be fixed eventually, but it’s been there a long time. I decided that as I can’t afford the time to issue frequent updates, creating a scenery with a workaround of an MSFS bug is not a good strategy, because when it’s fixed, the inferior objects will remain. It’s better to do things properly as they should be, and then expect them to work as they should, including MSFS2024 hopefully. I was expecting for this bug to be fixed sooner, but it is what it is. I use 3 LOD levels for all buildings and most objects, an interiors are not present in the lower LODs. The glass has a unique glare to it which is important to have, and also the software that dynamically reduces LODs is becoming very popular. This software can reduce LOD to a bare minimum on the ground (there’s even a setting to force this) and in VR or in lower-spec PCs this leads to an extremely low TLOD and OLOD, which would mean this glass would look extremely bad up close. So this workaround is not as good idea as it seems…

I have created custom jetways for CYYJm with night lights, drivers, stairways, custom details, signs etc. CYOW is still not updated with custom jetways I think, but it will be in the next update. I don’t have the date for the next update though, as my plate is pretty full, and I don’t want to make promises I can’t keep. But rest assured, they will eventually be implemented in CYOW as well. Unfortunately, they are very tricky and time-consuming to create.

Fair enough, hopefully this issue will get fixed.

I’m in no hurry. I have CYYJ and it’s mostly superb. I knew that airports had custom jetways (custom everything, in fact), which is why I wasn’t sure about the current status of CYOW. I take it any CYOW update would feature other improvements too?

Yes, whenever I make an update, if I have new features or relevant models - like a true-to-life police cruiser and taxi liveries and models, I bring them from the newer projects to the older ones. Same with the jetways.

Hello, I have had your CYOW for a few months and I’ve been to YOW a lot, and noticed that at the departures area, there is no check in desks like the real airport. I was wondering if these would be added in an update because CYYJ has them. If not it’s fine because the airport is great anyways!
Thanks!

Though it’s a good idea in principle, I’m just one guy, so for now I’m concentrating on finishing my upcoming Vancouver Island Helipads and Seaplane Bases pack, and I can’t allocate time for adding a purely cosmetic thing that most people won’t see anyway. I have to prioritize the release.

I will update all my airports when upgrading them for MSFS 2024 in November. That would be a perfect time to add features like that. I added this one to my list of potential updates and fixes that I keep, and will address when doing MSFS 2024 upgrades.

There will be other things that I’m planning to add. Asobo has mentioned that there will be animated people that can be added with paths, walking inside terminals, jetways etc. so I will definitely try to add those as appropriate. And whatever new features that won’t require a huge amount of time to implement.

@RomanDesign I have a question about Vancouver. You just released the Vancouver island helipads so I was wondering if possibly you would make a CYVR because that’s my hometown airport and there isn’t a really good payware one yet. Your CYOW is amazing so I would love to see a CYVR with the same level of detail!

Also at YOW there Is a problem with the glass from the inside. In the Canada/International side of the terminal it keeps its tint when you go inside, but the US side loses its tint and looks like there isn’t any glass inside. Is this just a MSFS glitch or is that something you can fix? Thanks

I’d love to, but there is already CYVR from ORBX and CYVR from FSim Studios. I’m definitely not making a third one…

Glass is extremely glitchy in MSFS. Sometimes it’s impossible to know why the glass material works in one place and doesn’t work in another. I will look into this issue when I’m doing the next update, which probably going to be when MSFS 2024 is released and I update my sceneries for it.

Ok thanks for the reply and keep up the good work

Which begs the question, what’s next

I just noticed you released VI Helipads and float bases. Oh this makes me so happy. Plus…

Hahahah. The Malahat is closed again. Now this is total immersion.

Day one purchase for me. Thanks @RomanDesign

PS. you didn’t do the helicopter-pads at YBL, I’d be happy to take pictures for you.
