Agreed this forum was one the first places I witnessed the demise of “freedom of speech”

This forum has a Code of Conduct, like some other forums, in which we all agreed to follow when we first joined.

Freedom of speech is a principle that applies to government. We are not the government, and this is not a government entity. This is a privately owned site and the use of and discussions herein are subject to the Code of Conduct. While we do strive very hard to create a place for constructive feedback and open communication, it is not “anything goes” here. It is everyone’s concern to engage in discussions in good faith.

Posts getting deleted if people don’t agree with your criticism.

No member of the forum can hide or delete a post, other than deleting their own. Flagging a post does not hide that post (see exceptions in How and When to Flag a Post) or delete it. Only those on the moderation/community managers team can take action on flagged posts. Those actions are based on the Code of Conduct, otherwise, the flag is rejected.

If you have a question as to why your post was hidden or deleted, you may send a DM to @moderators.

Hi folks,

I want to repeat everything @Hester40MT wrote here for emphasis.

We do not currently – and never will – remove posts simply for expressing a negative opinion about Microsoft Flight Simulator. All feedback is very important to us, whether it’s either positive or negative.

However, we are not the government, and the political concept of freedom of speech does not apply here. These forums are a private service operated by a business. Posting to these forums is a privilege, not a right, and this privilege is conditional on you abiding by the Code of Conduct which clearly explains what is acceptable or not to post.

If you have previously posted a negative opinion which was flagged by a community member and then manually reviewed and removed by a moderator, it was not because you shared negative feedback but rather because your post did not adhere to the expected standards outlined in the Code of Conduct.

You are absolutely welcome to share any negative views provided you do so respectfully and constructively. If you are unsure about how to properly share negative criticism, please see this thread which gives some examples about how to post negative feedback in such a way that doesn’t run afoul of the CoC.

How to Improve the Discussion

To make a great product, feedback (both positive and negative) from the player community is necessary and encouraged. However, we often see posts that are either too vague or could more accurately be described as “non-constructive” or “complaining” rather than “constructive criticism”.
