Reading Dean’s posts in Discord, I’m not sure he’s going to put his products anywhere other than the Marketplace going forward. He said specifically, if you’re waiting for it to go on sale elsewhere, don’t. Buy it from the MP.

This is not correct. The Phantoms will be sent to Just Flight at the end of the month. What is correct is that all future products will be Marketplace only, as their weapons can easily be re-activated on PC using a tiny free add-on, which I will release once all the weapons visibility code is locked down. ( Those codes are the only difference between Marketplace and third-party releases ).

I do appreciate the clarification. I’m glad you’ve decided this as your previous comments were contradictory.

There was little room for interpretation when you had said:

Unfortunately, it’s a bit late for me. Thinking Just Flight wasn’t going to get the release, I went ahead and bought from the Marketplace. So much for using my Just Flight points. I’m now eagerly awaiting that weapon visibility update. To be honest, the way this release was conducted has been rather frustrating. It feels like there was a bit of a bait and switch to increase Marketplace sales, presumably in order to justify future decisions. I hope I’m wrong on that.

Just 2 quick questions, since I couldn’t find an answer in the manual or while scrolling down this thread:

  1. How exactly does the wing fold work? After the landing I can’t seem to fold the wings up.
  2. Does anyone else have issues with the chocks not showing?

I probably just missed a minor detail. Any input is much appreciated.

Chocks are missing in original release, incoming update to add them plus sort a few other issues.
The wing fold currently only works on Naval/USMC varients. But also to be added across the range with incoming update.
To fold wings on navy/marine varient there is a switch on right side console near the back. See above video near the end for launch or usr INTERACTIVE CHECKLIST to highlight wing fold switch etc

Thanks @Batterby76 - that does indeed answer my questions fully.

I was sitting in my non-naval F4, so that explains the non-existent wing-fold, despite me having identified the proper switch.

And it’s hard to put on chocks, if they are not yet programmed in.

Makes all sense now. Much appreciated.

Took the plunge, and everything worked great for me… except the engines wouldn’t stop. I think I need to pull the throttles all the way back past idle, but my Bravo won’t let me do that apparently (either via the throttles themselves or by using the mouse). Am I correct here?

Cool. Excited to get it (seeing all the detail made me drop my price stinginess!), but would rather get it from JF. MS missing the update this week even with their improved marketplace process just cements my decision to only buy MP when there’s no other choice.

Also, I like dabbling with config files sometimes. (And then of course acknowledging that dabbling with config files means I can’t ask for tech support unless I restore the original configuration, because I am a responsible flight sim pilot and not a monster._

to shut down engines, press buttons on back of throttle levers then flick engine master switches (Fuel cut offs). That will do it

rotary switch right side panel near to the outer wall, roughly around where the wing fold is if memory serves

  1. After testing a lot, as mentioned above flaps 1 is the way to go, they seem to be auto flaps, retracting themselves automatically if too fast but not entirely, we still need to retract them to gain more speed.
    The second flap setting in the real F-4 has no effect anyway, not sure if that’s the case for all models.
    So if you fix the drag you might wanna make flaps 1 auto all the way down to full flaps and leave the flaps 2 setting ineffective for realism’s sake.
  2. Runway visibility during landing is poor, that is not entirely wrong but not this poor. Pilots can see the runway. They actually have to duck a bit to see the gun reticle on the gun sight. I’ve altered the cameras.cfg to this:
    eyepoint=18.1, 0.0, 2.4 InitialZoom =0.35 InitialPbh = -12, 0, 0
    ingame zoom level 50 (default)
    If you hate doing carrier approaches on normal runways you can approach at 200 knots, aim well in front of the runway at a 5-6 deg glideslope. A couple hundred feet before touchdown retard the throttle and return to a 3 deg glideslope and bleed off excessive airspeed and gently put her down.

Hi folks!

By the time you read this the Phantom’s update on the Marketplace will have gone through and been released. There are already a lot of livery artists creating great new work for the Phantoms – you can check out their work here and download any liveries that you like;

The weapons mod that reactivates the ordnance on PC will be released to flightsim.to as well now, by updating the existing mod to include the Phantoms. Likewise, the Phantom paint kit will also be uploaded there for greater flexibility for artists to add new liveries, of which there were countless hundreds for the Phantoms. I will post links here on this post as an update for both as soon as they are live on the site.

Finally, I’m happy to say that the new Marketplace submission and update system is far more efficient now. If I submit an update early in the week, it usually will appear in the Marketplace update of the following week ( always a Thursday ) so about ten days or so. I’m more than happy with that, given the volumes of work their team have to deal with.
