@pby5a I can’t tell you enough how much your interest in adding liveries to our aircraft means to me!!! I’m sure the community appreciates them as well but ever since sim release I’ve gone back several times and reminded myself of your amazing work thru ALL sim iterations and am blown away by your commitment to making the sim a better place for all…Thank you Friend!!!
A question-Could the cowl flaps crank option not be linked to the landing gear crank setting or have separate options for each? Was going with the easier up/down gear option to fly some circuits but enjoy being able to moderate cowl flaps without going full open or full close. Thoughts?
Edit- a half setting with the cowl flaps would also work
I have literally purchased a couple of planes I was on the fence with because Jan Kees (@pby5a ) did repaints for them. Dude is a treasure to our hobby.
You are too kind!
Meanwhile, back to the grey/blue gray debate:
How’s this?

I have a model of Galers Wildcat and I’d say thst is very close, perhaps half a shade greyer.
@pby5a That looks perfect =) Thank you so much for the extra work!
And I can only join @twoseventy270 and @Editer in saying how much your contribution means to the sim world! Most of my aircraft in FSX had repaints done by you and in MSFS it doesn’t look any different. I just checked my community folder and I’ve got 286 repaints installed, that were done by you Thank you!
“K” also looks fantastic! Hopefully the real one will fly again in the not too distant future.
I absolutely agree. JanKees always does top notch repaints. And with the speed and amounts he cranks them out I always wonder if he gets any time actual fly the aircraft.
Thank you, JanKees!
This would make a great meme!!!
Colour is so subjective, especially since we all have different monitors and different light settings, plus the light reflects differently in different environments, weather, water vapour content, etc…
in other words, YOUR LIVERIES LOOK AMAZING AS IS!!! :). Must download then all. :). Thank for making them.
I was able to map the cowl flaps via AAO, to incr/decr. So I can have them set at any range. Been keeping a close eye on CHT, and adjusting as needed.

As with pretty much every Got Friends aircraft before I’m greatly enjoying the Wildcat. The cockpit is much more comfortably cozy than I was fearing it would be given the size of the fuselage.
One thing I’m not sure about yet is where the neutral positions for aileron and rudder trims are. Would that be with the 0 centered at 12 o’clock for aileron and at 3 o’clock (pointing right towards me) for the rudder trim? Or is the neutral position somewhere else? I’m not seeing any markers.
Another question: is it correct that the supercharger handle cannot be operated manually and changes automatically? Or do I have an incorrect setting somewhere? If it is automatic, is that true to the real thing or what is the reasoning behind this otherwise?
Hey Hayray79, thanks for the kind words and feedback!
Glad you’re having a good time with the Wildcat so far!
For trim adjustment, we found it helpful to have tool tips enabled but I understand some users want a more immersive experience. Aileron and Elevator trim tabs both have a “0” to mark their neutral position. Rudder has a black/white painted strip to quickly identify “0”, and by default points towards the throttle. I think we could take some creative liberty here and position it directly at the pilot’s view to make it more clear. Something I’ll bring up with the team for an update.
As for the supercharger, GotGravel had mentioned during development it would be a challenge to have a manual supercharger that could be toggled as the sim does not support this natively (limitation of Asobo’s engine simulation). He was able to simulate the function of the blower accurately at 5000ft and 14000ft respectively, although it is assisted and kicks in automatically. Perhaps in the future with a bit of custom coding, we could work around this limitation. For the time being, we felt it was a good decision to launch with it simulated automatically to begin with as to not further prolong the development timeframe. It is certainly is something we would love to have simulated at pilots discretion in the future. Lots of new stuff to play with in SU13 regarding engine simulation so we’re positive all of our piston aircraft in the fleet may benefit from these new features in some way, even if this specific item is not tackled just yet.
Apart from that, we’re slowly collecting feedback across forums, support email and the #support thread on the GG Discord, and preparing the 1.0.1 update for the Wildcat. Be sure to continue putting in your feedback in those channels as we’re getting an idea of what people wish to see adjusted for QoL.
Please don’t! Leave it as authentic as possible. There are keyboard shortcuts to center trims. That should be sufficient for anyone. If you have to take creative liberty (a very slippery slope), make it optional, not mandatory for everyone.
Now for something completely different: I may or may not have been distracted for a tiny moment during a low level flight and noticed after the totally voluntary landing with bent prop blades that the smoke was accompanied by a weirdly overdone heat blur effect.
While the center position is a Reference, unless you want to keep pressure on the Yoke, I have found that I realistically, need to adjust these trims, according to my speed, V-Speed and throttle setting
I like it !!!
Excuse me being “super critical” – but I have noticed —
If you do end up “in the drink”, it floats" in a strange way, Tail heavy .
The HEAVY engine way up out of water…
Not a big deal, you should not crash / land in the water, but it should be “Technically in MSFS” possible to make it sit more realistically in the water.
ie
And I though I was being super Critical !!
Thank you so much for a quick and detailed reply!
I can see the zero on the wheels themselves, but no corresponding line on the cockpit panel that would show where the zero needs to be positioned in order for trim to be neutral.
Tried the tooltips again and lo and behold, with click and hold it’ll show the position. Never noticed that before as I tend to use the scroll wheel normally. So now I know where the neutral positions are and all is golden!
Thanks again for the quick help! You guys are awesome!
Been having a blast with this since it released, what a joy to fly! One question regarding the bombs, would it be possible for them to leave some sort of persistent mark at their impact point? It’s impossible to know where they landed unless you witness the explosions as you’re trying to exit the dive. Otherwise it’s a 10/10 for me!
