Yes, also depends on temperature and pressure (density altitude) but the difference isn’t huge under normal parameters.

What altitude were you at when you saw the red tape at 270? Some jets have a “bird strike speed” limit of usually 280 below 8000ft.

I think I saw the developer saying you can’t in a twitch stream. The screenshot above is probably from an early build. Sorry for the bad news. :frowning:

I see it always, regardless of altitude.

I keep thinking I’ve got flaps or something extended that is lowering the speed alert, but I don’t.

That may be correct, don’t know the Honda jet well. 270 could be in fact the limit. If you want to go fast you have to climb so your TAS increases.

It’s odd, then, that KTAS isn’t advertised as, “430 KTAS at X0,000 feet.” rather than just “430 KTAS”.

Because it’s regardless of altitude. You can’t go faster than that, whenever you achieve it.

I guess, I’m still confused, you can’t go faster than that, but you can’t even go close to that speed unless very specific conditions apply, which seems like an odd way to advertise performance.

You can see I’m willing to flaunt my ignorance here in the name of learning.

You will certainly hit that limit once you get to say 40000ft, likely even earlier.

Edit: maybe look for a IAS to TAS calculator online and play around with it :slight_smile:

I guess what I really need is a proper POH, because you’re meant to set the throttles to MCT for the climb, but that is causing overspeeding for me, so, what, increase my rate of climb to keep speed in check?

This thing is so different than a prop…

Are in flight level change mode? You select a speed at which you want to climb and the aircraft will pitch to that speed.

Same here. I’ve overstressed it 4 or 5 times as well at a speed of around 270 or so. I’m probably doing something wrong. Until the user guide drops i’m going to turn off stress damage.

Great addon though and a great price.

I’m struggling a bit with the AP as the controls aren’t responding to keybindings and it behaves weirdly when exiting TO/GA mode, etc.

I’ve been using VS, since I can get that to behave. I’ll try FLC and see if it will work.

Yeah set the speed to about 210 (if I’m not mistaken) and let it climb. You can use V/S mode too but you probably need to increase the rate at low altitudes if you want to avoid overspending. Or you manually control the throttle to keep a certain climb rate. You have to increase the throttle as you get higher and at some point will end up in MCT. Be careful at altitude that you don’t climb at a high rate or your speed will bleed off and you either stall or cannot climb higher and have to descend to pick up speed.

TLDR: start with flight level change mode and set speed to around 210.

Not sure about this add-on in particular, but for the real plane they advertise that 430 at 30,000 ft specifically.

Your climb rate might really high in the beginning. It’s fine in the sim, passengers wouldn’t find that very comfortable :slight_smile:

Once you get comfortable with that, you can try starting out with V/S at say 2000ft/min and manual throttle control and then switch over to FLC mode with MCT on the throttles at a later point when you need more thrust to climb.

That’s what I’d been trying to do, but due to achieving getting “rated” on the aircraft while flying it, my workload is a bit high.

At sea level… sometimes.

But, even so, you can’t get to “max” cruise at “low altitude” anyway because the air is thicker, and the FAA limits you to 250 knots below 10,000 feet anyway. I assume European airspace rules are similar.
