[RELEASED] RealTurb CAT Areas Global for MSFS

You can specify where to install it and there’s an icon in the tray when the program is running (it should start together with MSFS as the installer inserts a startup entry in the xml.exe).

thanks - found my install folder - when its running will look out for the tray item (out of interest is there any separate settings page or UI?)

Yes, there are settings available from the tray icon.

Thanks for sharing, I didn’t know at all that there were some settings available, since months that I have Real Turb! (even if I didn’t fly msfs that much only since ASFS was realeased recently) I’m glad to know that we can play with those settings as well! Knowing that the internal MSFS Live Weather is still not realistic in terms of Turb (except for turb/alterities/terrain/mountains etc) well, that is a good news!

New version 2.0.5 is available. I had a few flights and no more CTDs when ending a flight. Glad to see the problem corrected, thanks for the update.

I have been using it for a while with Fenix A320, PMDG 737 and 777 and it produces good turbulence specially close to mountains and in clouds much better production than MSFS and FSRealistic. Just started flying the Fenix A321 and the plane acts weird with RealTurb on. The wings starts rocking hard with the slight hint of turbulence.

Yeah, the Active Sky Turbulence is way better imho. But comes at a price… I also found that the turbulence of CAT is kinda “aggressive” and it just rocks an Airbus left to the right. I think this is the “random turbulence” that it adds on every flight. I didnt like that. With Active Sky (Passive Mode) i find that the Turbulence is smoother and feels more realistic to me. Yes, i fiddled with the settings in CAT but i never managed to really like the way the turbulence is affecting the aircraft.
Active sky does this better IMHO.

Yeah, it works fine for the PMDG airplanes (I use 75/50/50 setting as default), especially the 777 seems realistical but I had to tone it down for Fenix airplanes. For them I use 30/10/10 setting (Cloud/Enroute/Terrain scalar). From some reason they’re too sensitive.

RealTurb V2 is not starting with MSFS anymore for me. This is since the last update. Anything I can do about it? It’s not in the system’s tray after MSFS startup. I have to manually start it and then it’s in the system’s tray and working.

Check your exe.xml file in C:\Users[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator (Steam version). It contains a list of applications that start together with the sim.

Check that it contains this block:

If not then type it in and save. Take a note that you must set the path where you installed RealTurb. The path shown above is where I have it installed.

Well there you have it, that file was empty for me! And some automatically generated back up file had everything! That explains why I also had to manually start GSX and the Fenix A320 app! Thanks!

Same here … purchased V2 but it won’t auto-run when MSFS loads (pretty sure the trial version did) … program is present in exe.xml
It seems like Webroot AV is intervening … I have to manually load RealTurb if the AV is running but it will auto-run if the AV is temporarily disabled.
I have configured AV to ‘allow’ RealTurb but still doesn’t auto-run.
Open to suggestions

So we’re saying that the default settings of 100 are too high for PMDG aircraft and they’re causing excessively unrealistic turbulence?

Just trying to figure out how this works.

Well, I guess that’s a matter of personal preference. Everything cranked up just seems too much to me.
