[RELEASED] Skyward Simulations Cessna Citation C680 Sovereign+

Probably an unpopular opinion but I think they started the pre-release video streams on this too soon, I’ve spent so long seeing the big youtubers flying this with no sign of it being released that I’ve actually lost a lot of interest. Finding out that my only choices to buy it are marketplace or orbx is the final nail in the tyre.

Ok, after the first flight I must say that I love the aircraft. And because FSR Phenom is also a fresh product and my current financial situation allows me to have them both the comparison is inevitable. They both have their own pros and cons and to be honest it’s difficult for me to say which one is a better addon.

The simulation of the systems seems to be a little bit deeper with the Phenom to me because there are more inop buttons in C680. For example the whole ECS system - cockpit and cabin temp etc. But still C680 feels deeply modelled. The EFB’s are both awesome and ones of the best I’ve seen in a flight simulator. Phenom has the edge over the graphics and texturing it seems but C680 is beautiful enough for me. Boris sounds for C680 are excellent and I like sounds better than Phenom’s. Yes, the cabin in C680 is empty and there is no passenger service and happiness simulation. However, there are contrails and autothrottles in C680 (I know, A/T is coming later for Phenom). The flight model feels nice to me in both addons.

Also the devs are very responsible to user feedback and they’ve already issued the first post-release patch.

Purchased the Skyward Simulations Cessna Citation Sovereign+ now, about to take it out at Teterboro-the awesome Dreamflight v2 one!

Happy piloting it!

Hi, I didn’t find any information about the career capability of this plane. Does anybody know more?

I don’t see it in the MP?

its in orbx, MP probably later

If it supports career then it would do so only from the marketplace version. Any of us that bought it at OrbX because we were impatient would not get that sadly.

That’s if it does. I don’t know for sure, just saying that only Marketplace aircraft can support career mode because Microsoft seems to thing they need to lock down a single player experience from potential cheating.

I managed to get a quick flight in around the Bahamas last night after work, albeit while half asleep! It lived up to everything I was hoping based on the various live streams before release. Some of the liveries and textures can be a little low res in spots but nothing I personally care about much and I’m sure we’ll get liveries on flightsim.to soon.

One odd thing is reverse thrust - I use the throttle 0-100 binding for my TCA throttle (which has reverse on the axis) which works for most of my aircraft, but it only worked intermittently on the Sovereign. It worked for both engines when I was taxiing but after landing only the right engine went into reverse thrust, the left throttle wouldn’t move from idle to reverse. I’m not sure what to tweak to get that working, I guess worst case I can change to the other axis binding and find a different way to do reverse thrust. I haven’t had the time yet to play around with that.

All in all very happy so far with the first flight. Looking forward to getting some more flights in later.

This might hold me back… these kind of inop buttons…

EDIT: according to the messages below, they are not inop at all…

EDIT2: After buying the aircraft, there are actually quite a lot of inop buttons/knobs. So be aware.

Do some more research first. I recall the devs explaining during a preview video that it’s inop until you enable it from the cockpit, as in real life. I just bought it so I haven’t looked yet, but they said something about the ECS screens turning on but they don’t do anything until the pilot unlocks them.

Yeah the ECS definitely works. By default it is configured from the G5000 exclusively and you need to enable cabin control to adjust it from the cabin.

If anyone manages to find a AFM for this 680+ please share. I so far have been completely unable to find one, but I ran across one discord user who claimed to have it and even showed a page from it, but didn’t respond when I asked if they would share it so I dunno. One might be out there somewhere.

I know it isn’t necessary but I just like to have the real AFM/POH for the aircraft I fly and up until now I’ve always managed to be able to find one.

Also managed a quick maiden flight last night, impressed so far. I’d spend 90% of the last week and a half flying the Phenom, so it was super easy to transition to this, both in terms of cockpit workflow and a number of my control mappings (via SPad.next, of course). I also used to fly the Longitude a lot which is based on the Sovereign, so I felt very much at home.

More to come tonight.

What should be better: MP or ORBX? Is there any price difference?

For me personally Orbx is the choice as I can’t stand MP and buy airplanes there only if it’s exclusive to that store. The main reason for that is how the updates are delayed compared to 3rd party stores in most cases.

Marketplace is the only option if you care about Career mode.

[Edit: Which is true, but apparently this one is not career-enabled yet.]

Agreed. They already posted an update on the day of release which quickly made it to Orbx. I doubt the marketplace could get things that fast.

I am not interested in career mode so I will generally use third party distributors where possible.

Released on MP today.

There was already an update on Orbx if they are going to fix and improve things then Marketplace is a very bad idea as it is updated randomly and with lengthy delays compared to any other vendor.

I hope they offer it in Contrail at some point.
