[RELEASED] Wilga 35/80 Series | Got Friends

If it could be easily trimmed with precision, an A/P is not necessary.
Anyway with a non-encrypted plane it’s easy to create a basic A/P (Altitude, VS, Heading and horizontal GPS Nav)

Is the first time that the windscreen wipers have actually moved the water around the glass? amazing..

No, the Fenix A320 features that too.

^ This exactly. I must be honest, every time we have done an aircraft, there is always a small handful that request AP and its heart breaking because we love giving the community features that make them happy… In fact nearly all of our releases got PMS50 GTN750 support added as per community request which has AP built in now.

But on the matter of the Wilga. The team and I are putting our foot down when it comes to AP. It doesn’t fit the Wilga 35 or 80 really.. It’s a bit of a nightmare to balance correctly, a pain in the butt to test for stability.. Plus… Just thinking about the amount of full 30min RNAV approaches I ran in the slow @$$ Optica to ensure it was working correctly makes me shudder.. For my (and Jonx’s) sanity, I think we’re going to pass. Totally cool if the community wish to mod it in post release though!

For folks really desperate for AP, there’s a modder on .to that has been adding simple wings level autopilot to tons of planes that don’t have it. Make they’ll be able to do the same for this. I appreciate the team’s dedication to authenticity by not adding it and don’t want it myself, but I suspect the community will come up with something for those that absolutely want AP.

“As real as it gets”, so not good idea for me, sorry ;), but you can use trims! It will be flying near alone ;). I think here was a good idea too - mod and perhaps someone will do it in the future.

You don’t have to be modder to do this. I did that for my personal usage for most of the planes I care about. Just few cfg have to be unlocked to do this. So in other words, if Wilga will be released anywhere else than on marketplace, I’m sure people will get their AP

I’m absolutely stoked about this, very much look forward to it. Hope the sound recording session goes well.

Yeah, us too! Gurt has spent the last few weeks making cables, putting together all the gear he needs to capture everything on his list. It’s a huge undertaking and I think he’s going to get some support from a family member to aid in recording.

Going to try and convince him to make a post sometime soon sharing what his goals are for the recordings, potential challenges, and just generally anything he wants to share with the community.

In other news, I think the plan is to kick off our closed alpha sometime this upcoming week. It’s just 6 peeps from the community to give us core feedback on the most glaring issues prior to doing our standard closed beta with members of the GotGravel discord. Hope is to knock out obvious dependencies so the feedback from the Beta is more concise and not multiple people reporting the same thing.

Makes it a lot easier to filter through. We aren’t the kinda team to run NDAs or anything, so provided you’re all well aware the project is still WIP, you may soon see some pics here on the forums from community members!

Any way to apply for the beta?

Welcome the PZL-104 Wilga 80 Bush Variant…

  • Some Modern Avionics
  • Alaskan Bush Ready
  • Engine Upgrades… and more!

Excited to share more in the future!

In other news, Sound Recording equipment is coming together and we are all stoked to start the process of putting together sounds… GurtTractor will do an amazing job, guaranteed!

Wow, great set! Nice to see new idea and next cockpit version!

Nice one! Let me know if you guys need any sound recording or editing advice. I’m a video game sound engineer by trade. I see you’re using the Zoom F6 which records in 32-bit, that’s a great piece of kit and use that myself too.

For sure! Initially Gurt wanted to pick up an F8, but there were quite literally out of stock everywhere, and the few places showing “in-stock” were actually just putting in a tentative pre-order. He went with two F6’s instead which actually ended up being a better overall solution as it gave him like 14x2 channels of simultaneous recording.

Btw, what this bear does on the first shot! Hurry up  !

Yeah, the F8 is good - I want to get the new F8 Pro which records in 32-bit as the F6 does, but it’s just expensive! I’ll need to sell my current F8 first, which had I known you wanted one could have probably sold it to you guys!

After a bit of conversation with the team in regards to accessibility and feedback regarding AP.. Figure we could do one for simmers and streamers that need a break. I dont exactly want it to be a main-stay at all times so perhaps disabled be default? Here is the reference vs the model I created. What are your thoughts?

Its nothing advances. Just holds a pitch and or bank. No brains when it comes to target altitudes or or speed either. Its almost like a fixed trim to help you be hands off for a moment.

It could either be a toggle or a hidden compartment like the one in the Goose by Big Radials
