[RELEASED] Wilga 35/80 Series | Got Friends

Wilma don’t do go arounds! Once she’s made her mind up, that’s that!!

But yeah anyway, with both levers bound together or moved together you’ll be up again in less than no time if you need to, no worries at all!

This. Unless it’s written in the POH, prop lever should be full forward (fine pitch) on final and through landing. Pulling the prop back is not a standard practice unless it specifies otherwise for a specific aircraft. For instance, some geared-engined aircraft like a Cessna 421 are better left alone (not reduced, but left in place).

It is something specific to the Wilga as far as I read from Got Gravel himself.
That is why the handles on your left have both levers close next to each other, so you can grab them with single hand.

I know it’s definitely helped me do the eSTOL thing  I probably shouldn’t be giving away my tricks!!

If it says it in the POH, then it’s good to go. My POH isn’t on me, so I’ll have to look it up later.

STOL ops (especially competition) sometimes re-writes the book on the normal way things are done, so it doesn’t surprise me that there’s this “one weird trick.” Also have to take into account “sim-isms.” But again, unless it’s in the POH, I’d steer clear for normal ops and make the distinction when talking about it.

Hi,
Great aircraft!

A couple of dumb questions…

I’m using the 80X Experimental version.

available to the right of the GTN-750 Switch

I can’t seem to locate this switch, where is it?

NOTE: TDS GTN-750XI Required for GTN-750Xi Use

Where can I get this?

Also,

I cannot seem to find a way to switch from VOR to GPS…where is the CDI selector?

Thanks

Hey,

Are you flying the latest version? v1.1.2?

Make sure you also don’t have any other Replacement Packages installed. They are not required now and will affect your latest version.

Yup. Latest version, no replacement packages

Thanks

As long as you have TDS installed, your external TDS application is running and you click the TDS GTN-750Xi Switch (Right of the PMS-50 GTN-750 Switch), you should see everything working just fine in-game.

Am I missing something or does the oil never cool off after engine shutdown? Rises to around 70C during the flight. 30 minutes after shutdown and it’s still at 70C while the cylinder head temps have fallen to ambient air temps.

Are your cowlings open to aid in cooldown? Also are your playing with Engine Realism turned on from the clipboard?

Cheers

Yes to both. i left the cowlings open to facilitate cooling. For the record im flying the 80X varient

Anyone else flies the Wilga with a Honeycomb Alpha? When I received my Alpha I unfortunately left many stick planes in the hanger for a long while. Today I tried to fly the Wilga with the Alpha and surprisingly it felt very good! It had the same kind of repsonsiveness as I remember from using a T16000 stick.

Is this the EGT?

That’s the oil temperature gauge. The nominal range of 50-100 °C is not hot enough to be EGT.

So where exactly is it?
The manual claims there’s an EGT.

It’s even in the screenshot. This is from the manual.

Good question! I haven’t noticed an EGT gauge in the Wilga variant that I usually fly (80X). The main panel has a Carburetor Temp gauge (upper right), the triple cluster with Oil Temp, Oil Pressure and Fuel Pressure in the middle. The Cylinder Head Temp gauge next to it on the right, and the Manifold Pressure and RPM gauges at the bottom. I usually lean by ear or RPM, so I never looked for an EGT gauge in that bird.

I tried to lean by ear. Have to focus, but I think I’m getting better.

There is no governor for the prop RPMs, right? I’ll have to look at these.

Never found any answer regarding the EGT. It’s still in the latest version of the manual.

I just went through all the variants, 35 and 80 alike. I couldn’t find and EGT gauge in any of them. Probably just a mistake in the manual. Or it’s hidden in a weird spot where I didn’t think to look (like the fuel meters on the underside of the wing in the variants without fuel gauges in the cockpit),

No, the RPM rise and fall in tandem with the Manifold Pressure.

If the pedals aren’t the greatest, try going for more of a three point than wheel landing, add a touch of toe brake evenly right before you set down. A bit of crab to bleed of that last bit of speed too. I know it’s absolute cake to get to the very first turnoff at 10 Barth for practice(28’s turnoff).

Not quite right on the 10 pianos like the Monster NX, or full land, turn, and take off again only on the pianos with the Shock Ultra(or even better with that just use its initial parking spot for both), but pretty short.

The brakes are VERY forgiving on the Wilga, you can abuse them heavily, realistic or not.
