Reno racing possible cheat or network issue?

Hello everyone,

Yesterday i was on the first lap of a race in pole position. At approx 22 seconds during the first lap, a new player appeared at some distances in front of me. Fortunately i was recording the race. I prefer to think that’s some sort of bug because it wouldn’t be so great to find out that there are already people cheating their way into the top 10 on Reno less than a week after release.

I don’t see how it’s possible for a player that wasn’t in the lobby to suddenly appear out of thin air and even if there was some sort of lag that prevented the player to appear in the lobby before the qualification begins, it would be impossible for the best player in the world to be so far ahead during the first lap. This player wasn’t in the qualification scoreboard neither. Im currently ranked 3 worldwide with a total of 157 races, I’ve seen good players but it seems to me impossible to be 10 seconds ahead of everyone during the first lap around pole 6. Remember races starts before pole 4. You can check at timetrial leaderboard as well, a 48 seconds lap on unlimited seems pretty improbable.

Here’s a video that shows the beginning of the race where you can quicky see my position as well as the last player number 7 on the map then a few second later, the new player tag between poles 6 and 7. At the end of the clip, you can see 8 players on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, i started recording only at the beginning of qualification so i can’t show you the lobby filled with only 7 players.

I’m pretty sure this can be investigated on the server logs and hope this is just a bug and not the beginning of the end for this DLC.

Yes, there is cheating going on in Reno. There is another rather long thread on this. One user in particular seems to be the main culprit. Since he has been identified, hopefully he will be dealt with.

@HalberQuacky can you point me to the topic please? i might have missed it.

Its also search how to get good reno Times.

But there was a whole thread about cheating

I’m not sure. I ran across it under the “new” topics yesterday, but I did not bookmark or follow it. Perhaps a search will find it.

Oh ok, i came across the topic regarding good times on Reno yesterday but didn’t find anything relevant to this. I have seen one extravagant timetrial time though.

How do they get good reno times, it has been logged and investigated

It has been known you can cheat..sadly. I dont even do reno..but that would upset me (I would use stronger word) dont understand people’s mentality.

@Hester40MT

I’m more concerned about the time and effort I’m putting into races if some peoples have found a way to cheat their way into the top 10. In a racing game it should be priority number 1 to prevent such thing.

It has been bought to their attention and they are taking it serious.

Edit too late . Sorry

Good to know, i just read another topic on this matter and they are mentioning the same player as in my video, Jeff Cat NL so i guess it’s case closed. Thank you :folded_hands:t2:

Hate to be the judge jury on his case

In addition to fixing exploits, it is necessary to reset the cheaters’ accounts to zero and free up the top 10 for fair players.

I have collected a list of players showing very unusual results in races and unfortunately for them I recorded most of my races). Jeff Cat NL listed.

I am sure that it is impossible to improve the result by 4-5 seconds in one pylon section, but sometimes I see this

free up the top 10 of cheaters yes. Most of them are legit though, Tetsuo has a few videos on his youtube channel, I think he just started really early after the release of the DLC, number 2 as well, i raced him a couple of time and he’s ok.

A fair solution is to check the logs of all top 10 players.

One more thing: sometimes I see some players doing energy-expensive maneuvers, high-G turns, flying far from the pylons, but at the same time getting significant acceleration (although logically, all these actions should slow down the aircraft and increase the resulting time). Either I do not understand something in the game, or is this another type of cheating.

It looks like the player has turned on magic second gear at the finish line.
Maybe they found the Warp 10 button behind the the plane seat?

One of my versions: it may have something to do with the mass of the aircraft / fuel

Some days ago I had the same feeling. I was flying very smooth, close to track limits and trying to be very precise with lines, and I was doing with the T6 about 1.17.00 at my best. I remember a pilot playing with me, following me all the race doing 1.17 and pass me in the last corners doing a 1.15.. I did not understand anything..
Then I started to play with prop lever. I flew some time trials looking for top speed at diferent prop lever settings. Now I am first in the list at time trial and best lap times (T6). And with the correct prop setup, I have seen that flying perfectly smooth is not the way to go. You have to be a little more agresive in turns that I thought.

I wonder if that was me? I have raced against you in the last day or two and I have done one race with someone where I left my prop at max rpm for most of the race then pulled it back for some more speed at the end. If so, I apologise, it seems a bit dickish in hindsight.

I hear you man, you kicked my *ss properly with the T6 yesterday, i still have to figure how this plane works. Like the BF109, i know there is something to do with the prop to gain speed but i still didn’t figured what… sometime i also lose the rudder which doesn’t help at all. It’s there in qualification then it’s gone during the race… pretty annoying.

yes!!! you were!
I wanted to ask you how the hell you were geting that speed? The game needs a chat!
But thanks for those races with you I understand that there was something more I was not doing.
Nothing you have to apologise!
Now I would like everybody knows about prop level! It should be written in some place in the game!

Press the + button to speed up the plane then press - to slow it back before the gate
