Finally, I had some free time to fly - got stuck on taxi ack. I tried a few times, no luck. I think I’ll wait for another update.
Besides all the information above, there is another possible scenario in which the auto ATC response function would not work:
In Chinese and Japanese clients the ATC menu will show blank options. Since the auto ATC response function will look up all the options listed in the background, it will not find the one option needed if that option is blank, cause it will not respond.

The issue which blank options in the ATC menu also exists in MSFS 2020.
For me, it seemed to be working OK for a while (maybe during the beta?) but it is horrible again.
As MS/Asobo are using their customers as unpaid QA engineers, maybe it would be a nice detail to solve these zero-day bugs at a better pace…
Absolutely a joke, career mode, hitting enter repeatedly to get clearance for take off and nothing happens, come sort this out please, used to be able to work around this with not touching the electronic flight book till I had clearance and was lined up, now not even that works
Still not fixed, I’m on Xbox series S and when I land and need to press left d-pad to acknowledge taxi parking instructions to complete PPL I can’t - even using the atc window from cursor mode doesn’t let me acknowledge either
Restarted 3 times and rebooted my console, issue persists and thus impossible to ever finish the PPL mission because I have zero clue where to park since ATC never tells me where to go
Thankfully I never paid for this junk thanks to gamepass, I really pity those who did pay like £100 for that launch deluxe edition lol
