I wonder what you all do to get around the problem of a nice comfortable office seat on castors that propels you around the room when you lift your feet to the rudder pedals? I am sure that there will be a few original replies and I look forward to reading them.
I donât use an office seatâŠ
Iâve looked out for options but they all have castoring wheels or rotate for office usage. So I have a normal chair for the dining table.
A great many chair castors have a built in lever to stop unwanted drift and movement!
If your chair does not, well, perhaps a chair upgrade is necessary!
Maybe you could tie your plane down instead and use the now surplus wheel chocks to fix your chair in place.
You might find some ideas here
Well, this was my poor manâs 6 degrees of freedom solution, but it does become a pain after the first thirty years. I have seen some seat sliders as opposed to castors, but good locking castors are on my Christmas wishlist.
HahaâŠgood to know, Iâm not the only one.
This is in my workshop when I was mounting the Logitech (a.k.a. Saitek) rudder pedals to keep them from sliding around. This also was crafted to keep my wheeled desk chair from rolling backward when pushing the pedals. Thatâs what the rectangular cutout is for. The wheel of the chair fits in there.
Well done! I have been plagued by the moving chair amd pedal issue for years, but recently bit the bullet and thought about it. Many attempts later, the best so far is simply a square offcut of thick, long pile bathroom carpet that I was given by the shop. Works a treat, keeps your feet warm too.
So I recently got some rudder pedals but they are a pain to use as my chair has wheels. The chair moves every time you use them and completely ruins the immersion. Does anyone else have this problem?
I would imagine most people have a gaming /office chair which all seem to have casters. Itâs getting to the point where I miss NOT having them!
Mine is not rolling that easy, so it works for me.
But I thought about tying myself with a rope to the desk.
I guess a chair without wheels would be the better solutionâŠ
I used to have this exact same issue 4 years ago. Solution was to remove the wheels. Depending on your chair, you might need a screw driver, but either way itâs really easy and shouldnât take more than 5 minutes. Just get rid of the wheels.
My chair is on carpet, so it doesnât roll too bad.
Maybe try to put some down.
I donât have rudder pedals (yet) but I have pedals for driving games. Iâve just âupgradedâ my chair with these wheels that have brakes. They work fine for me.
Carpet square.
Get an offcut of really deep pile bathroom carpet. I had your problem for years until I discovered this one.
There are lockable wheels to buy on the aftermarket, or fixed feets.
I use these, take the wheels out and voila = Amazon.co.uk

Can we make a little suggestion which may help with this instability issue.
Howâs about increasing your immersion in our beloved Sim by having some Chocks on your Wheels attached to a handy Rope.
When itâs time to go and make Coffee or feed the Cat you could yell CHOCKâs AWAY ! and become mobile.
ps. If you have a Cat or a Dog it wiil surely know that itâs time for Din Dinâs.

There are suitable small Chocks in this selection that may do the Job.
Good luck with a solution and Regards from us,
I also use a carpet. That doesnât stop the dog getting tangled up in them while Iâm trying to fly.
