Hi folks, a question if you please? On the MSI app it lists the RAM as DDR5-4800, but on my bill of sale and on the memory stick packaging, it is listed as DDR5-6000. One of those is not the same, thoughts?
4800 base, 6000 when you enable the XMP profile within the BIOS
1 MSI Center is a â â â â â â â software and causes a lot of issues and is not recommended.
2 Itâs definitely odd that Micro Center installed memory primarily designed for Intel CPUs in your PC, especially if youâre using an AMD setup. While the memory may technically work, it could lead to some performance inefficiencies, since AMD and Intel platforms have different memory optimization profiles. â until recently, I had RAM primarily designed for Intel CPUs, but 5 days ago I replaced it with the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 64GB DDR5-6000 CL26 (F5-6000J2636G32GX2-TZ5NR).
Of course your RAM will work
3 I see that your BIOS is definitely misconfigured. Did you change anything,or are these the settings set by Micro Center?
BTW, MSFS 2020 works insanely well after installing the hotfix drivers.

Yikes, should I take it back to MicroCenter and ask them to reconfigure the memory for AMD? Have not even peeked at the BIOS, so no, did not make any changes. It is as received from MicroCenter. Please what to do next?
I have an RTX5080 and 9800x3d.
What should be changed in BIOS - Iâm a complete noob btwđ

Could it be that the MSI Center is misreading the RAM? OrâŠ
-
Could it be that what I purchased was not put into the PC?
It depends. RAM should technically work and should not cause any issues. You can ask Micro Center why they installed RAM that is primarily designed for Intel.
BUT, Before writing to them, make sure to double-check if the memory is really intended for Intel processors and not AMD, as MSI Center doesnât display the full model number.
Ok, all good
As I thought, MSI Center didnât display the full RAM model, and it initially looked like RAM for Intel. Luckily, these are actually AMD-compatible modules, so thereâs no need to contact MicroCenter after all.
MSI Center is #%^#$$$ software

As I mentioned earlier, MSI Center displayed RAM model incorrectly and it may also show the speed incorrectly. Even if the EXPO profile is selected in the BIOS, MSI Center will display the RAM speed without that profile, so instead of 6000, it will show 4800. Make sure to double-check if the EXPO profile is active in the BIOS.
That looks fine.
Please select the âAdvancedâ settings in your BIOS and go to the âOverclockingâ section. There, make sure that the EXPO profile is selected.
As I thought, the EXPO profile is not selected. You can enable the profile in two ways:
1 At the top of the screen, click the number â1â next to the âExpo Profileâ option, or
2 In the âOverclockingâ section, change âEXPOâ setting from âDisabledâ to âEnabledâ.
Donât forget to save the changes in the BIOS.
Ok, performed (2) to Enable EXPOâŠ
Before I save, should X3D Gaming Mode be enabled?
Nope mate.
Awesome, thanks a bunch! I just launched both 24 and 2020 in turn, just for fun. Thanks for walking me through the BIOS stuff, so glad I didnât break anything.
Tomorrow will be good flying!
I and @skypilotYTS have motherboards from MSI (X870E Carbon WIFI) while you have an Asus one, if Iâm not mistaken â so our BIOS settings might differ.
Youâre very welcome.
Just to clarify, you only selected the EXPO profile, which is actually less than 1% of the BIOS settings that need to be adjusted. Thereâs still a lot more that can be fine-tuned for optimal performance.
Got it. What makes sense to tackle next? And, tomorrow is another day LOL!
Tomorrow is another day, plenty of time to fine-tune everything

Download and install chipset drivers.
