Severe Problems on Xbox After Sim Update 9

Ah progress! Just logged back in today and my core game has updated. Just got to wait a few hours now for everything to download.

I must say I did a few flights over LAND for a change, Sedona(with scenery) to a few points around the canyon, and from Orlando across the state and down the coast to the keys(with scenery over Hollywood/Key west) and both flights were every bit as smooth SU8 ever was. I was pretty amazed actually, and with no hard quit between them. I had just put Sedona in last week and it was definitely laggy on Monday.

I did run with PG off/Live traffic and weather off but AI cranked to 100 and MP on, and even Global Shipping installed. I was amazed, usually even Orlando area at low altitude is a stutter fest lately.

Before I updated to WU10 I did update the other WU(although Nordics update never worked and I deleted), and uninstalled all my US scenery/Birds/Shipping/Textures. After the updated the existing WU I rebooted and loaded that all back in. And poof, no issues, no stuttering or CTD’s. Still a little turbulence but doesn’t seem as bad, flew both mid day. I was avoiding land masses entirely before this. I only used basic flight plans so did not check any IFR performance. But 2 hours in the Kodiak, built a new flight 2 1/2 hours in the Goose without leaving the game. No WAY that worked on Monday. Even lingered and played with the doors/accessories and landed on water with the goose. Usually after a few scenery areas load in and you land, it’s a race to end the flight before it crashes if didn’t already. I just bobbed around fishing and hanging out in the Kodiak with it all hanging out. Monday, instant-crash for sure.

So not sure what to think about it. Even side scrolling and mouse panning in and out were very smooth.

Only thing I hadn’t put back on before trying was Alaska Mesh and Nordics(couldn’t get it to update or install), and a couple problem airports like PHOG. May have to try that one tonight. This may be from that aforementioned LOD bug that was supposedly loading everything well beyond visual range? Going to also set ships to 100% and try some areas I know are clogged with traffic. I also have to try to fly over DC with my DZ DCA and DC scenery.

I also had no glitching out of the instruments as was par for the course monday, and I didn’t USE atc but just with flight following and no goofiness with delays or strange voices/changing voices nor menus completely disappearing as before.

And also, I didn’t have the NXi installed, but left the backup attitude and PFD2(which I always turn off) on and the frames were great in the Kodiak.

Test 2 tonight will be the DC area and St Marteen where the ships have been awful for pop in as of late and no detail on the cruise ships until right on top of them.

Back flying now.

Attempted short IFR flight in the a320 neo from Manchester to London city.

1st attempt - everything switched on. Immediate CTD when clicking the second Fly button.

2nd attempt - switched off all traffic. Initially up and flying. Seemed much smoother, then just froze after around 5 minutes. Had to force quit and restart.

3rd attempt - switched off all players and all traffic. Autopilot went crazy part way through and circled away from waypoint. Switched off and on back on course. Stutter seemed to calm down once well into the flight. Autopilot went crazy again. Scruffy landing (ok my fault  ) London is a melty mess.

I like that even in the opening screen where it ‘proudly’ shows St Louis with the Arch, you can see how bad the PG buildings are and that muddy storm-crashed tent that’s supposed to be a ship.

Has anyone ever tried to run the sim at 1080p on series X just to compare overall sim performance vs. native 4k?

I’m having mouse issues
Anybody else
?

Well I can only run it in 1080P as that’s all my TV can do. Think I’ve e probably had every issue raised in the thread since SU9.

I have CTDs in Tokyo

Well here we go again I installed the system update last night and yes you guessed it, auto pilot failing on approach phase, avionics screens going blank mouse pointer freezing, stuttering etc. Even with functions turned off, the same problems persist. I am on Xbox s and I share the frustration of all users, regardless of the platform. This farce continues and the only people suffering are the end users.

Not sure what the issue is, but hopefully SU10 can sort some of it out, on the other hand I played the other day for an hour or so and had completely the opposite experience to you, no stutters, no freezes in the menus, was perfectly fine.

And that’s another problem. The Xbox Series X has a total of about 13.5GB of total VRAM, but that excludes the shared VRAM. It doesn’t have dedicated VRAM. Which isn’t very good if you want to push ultra high graphics without any CTDs or performance issues.

That’s why I would love to see a performance mode 1440p for example.

Always CTD XSX 4K

I just had a CTD whilst panning around my parked aircraft on the ground. WU10 installed and running 1080P. :-1:

I’ve been playing with this for a little bit and it’s been running like butter for me, provided there’s NO 3rd party ‘animated’ items. Seems like it hitches and ‘loads’ for birds when little batches of them pop in. EVERY time it glitched, birds showed up. It used to the tiniest perceptible pop in(like 1fps), now it’s a near stop and chug in for a second.

Global shipping completely chugs it to a near halt, although with zero (MOVING)traffic even an army of STATIC ships in their upgraded areas(or if someone uses them in their scenery) causes ZERO impact to frame rates. I was at like 14fps taking off. Went back to the menu and lowered the sliders to zero for ships, and reloaded, boom 45+fps same exact t/o-no restarting the sim or anything. And that was at St Barth which is loaded with static ships, no issues from them. You couldn’t even see the ‘traffic’ ships yet and it crushed the system. The caribbean updated areas, Bijan’s boats, dock areas in scenery, etc, no issues.

Some other scenery areas like KDCA has an animated train. I flew in from a distance and darn near the exact instant that popped in I CTD’d. Anything using the in-game vehicles/ground crew doesn’t affect anything, and again static Global Shipping items have no impact. Didn’t notice any real impact from static or AI aircraft heavy or light numbers on the aprons, either from 3rd party airports or your own doppelgangers spread around.

SOMEWHERE in there is a glitch. I swear it’s been better since WU10, feels like 45+fps 4K HDR on xbox. No point to point issues covering multiple 3rd party areas and landing fine. No live traffic or weather/no PG(although it still runs well just UGLY looking as usual most of the time). Running 100% AI and MP, other aircraft non-live seem to have no impact, even with more detailed aircraft like the Kodiak. I even parked between three of them and no issues with frame rate.

I think it’s something with 3rd party animated items and it seems as if MS is loading ALL of it(like shipping for the entire region or world) even well beyond visual range. SU8 handled it no problem. Have had zero issues with non animated 3rd party airports, even heavy detailed ones(at least ones confirmed fine under SU8 already). A few less FPS, but no build up of stuttering/memory loss. Heavy detailed static POI items seem fine, like Sedona.

Washington DC was a good example as I have IAD which is heavy, DC (installed over the WU) and DCA, where you can have the buildings from all, even Andrews Joint at one time in your visusals and frame rates are great. So thats 4+ areas with the static buildings and aircraft loaded in, from Udvar Hazy to RFK stadium and Andrews Hangars at once, from different developers. As soon as that little metro train pops in, CTD.

Not sure what happened yesterday but now it starts with Microsoft Studios and Asobo/Blackshark have sound again at normal ‘speed’.

I still have no sound :pensive:

Your intuition is quite right, the bug is as described here Vessels: The Virgin Islands [Seafront Simulations] - #40 by SeafrontSims

But no fix until SU10.

Neither do I.

The resolution you set on the console applies to output resolution only. It doesn’t change how the console renders the games. Flight Simulator runs internally at 1440p and is upscaled to 4K. If you set the console to 1080p then that 4K image is simply downscaled to 1080p as it’s sent to the TV screen. It doesn’t affect performance at all.

When you touch A or B in the loading screen, then you have sound!
Look left high corner there is a mouse Pfeil, I thing the app is not in full picture or in background!
