It’s just a stuttery unenjoyable mess at the minute. Have no desire to play anymore
Present company included. I’ve packed up my console and put it in the closet for future play if not at all. I’ve dedicated myself to Aero Fly now. I have all the addon’s except (4) of the aircraft from the STEAM site. I have some developer created content too. I’m also gonna purchase FS4 when it’s released this month. To be frank, I find the scenery for MSFS to game’ish looking compared to the actual “photo scenery” of Aero Fly which gives it a more realistic appeal from altitude. After SU9 up to this point, the constant issues has been the final push I needed to switch SIM’s if not permanently going forward. To bad really, my faith in MSFS has been lost. I’m moving on to better things.
it’s like your 4th post about this between various threads. good luck
A beta test has just been announced. Anyone having serious issues should probably take a look.
Regarding this very welcome launch of a stability test, I wrote this in another thread but thought it would be worth repeating here as it directly relates to some of the discussion and sentiment expressed in this thread:
I think this is a very welcome initiative and, contrary to some recent comment on this forum, is a real statement of the devs commitment to achieving a better, more consistent and stable sim on Xbox Series X and S. Bravo, I say!
I would strongly encourage anyone who has been experiencing performance and stability issues - particularly the dreaded black screens - on Xbox to join the beta.
It neatly puts to bed the notion of “They don’t care!”.
Yes, Indeed!
That notion to me has always been weak. They have millions of people playing this on icloud running on xbox X machines. With all the marketing hype, game of the year it doesnt look good to have crashes. I personally think because of this they care more than issues on Pc for that counts…
Important note for everyone: this new beta build does not contain any fixes for performance or stability on Xbox. Its sole purpose is to provide the dev team with additional data logging so they can better diagnose and resolve issues for future releases.
Just Signed up loaded a flight in honda jet frankfurt to dusseldorf cdt when i clicked fly ..ha some tasty data winging its way back to the Dev team as we speak
Just signed up. Really appreciate this effort👍
On my way from Rio to Sao Paulo in the TAM classic livery A320.
Glad they’re upping their efforts, but worried this is like groundhog’s day for the SU10 beta.
Not sure I understand? This isn’t a beta of SU 10 or a new build, but a build explicitly designed to help the devs track, analyse and solve some of the persistent performance issues that some are experiencing.
It’s a really great initiative and an opportunity for Xbox users to play their part in helping the Devs to deliver a better performing sim, but it’s not an instant performance fix in and of itself.
Yeah it’s a top idea. Many of us in thread know what causes us issues. Sign up to this beta and replicate those issues. The more data the better.
I mean, from this I’m surmising that the ongoing instability issues for Xbox are a blocking issue for releasing SU10 beta. I had my fingers crossed for this week but after seeing this my hopes are no longer up.
Sorry, I misunderstood. I think I saw in the FSElite interview with Jorg that they aren’t expecting to release the beta until July, so hopefully this stability push won’t delay things much, if at all.
Finally, every CTD can have a purpose. Have at it people, now’s the time to crash! I wish this reporting tool had always been there.
Jorg said the beta would be for about 4 weeks in one of the interviews, so that puts it in the second half of July.
Seb had mentioned on the live Q&A that many of the CTD were caused by running out of ram, which always fitted in well with the observation that it crashes seemingly randomly and almost anywhere, and different for each user. Also that almost any 3rd party add-on makes it more likely to CTD. But finding why that happens is really hard because the evidence is often gone by the time it crashes, the only way is to add ongoing instrumentation. This instrumented build is fantastic news, it’s what I’ve been waiting for over the last few months and I really hope it leads to some solid fixes.
Many years ago I worked on an embedded system which started crashing randomly. It took us months to come up with a reasonable hypothesis as to what might be causing it, implement suitable instrumentation, deploy it, then fix the problems. In our case it was stack overflow caused by interrupts happening at certain busy times, but the crash would come later when another thread tried to return from a function call with a damaged stack. So I know pretty much what these guys are going through here, and it looks like they are on the right track, so anyone with a crashing sim get out there and find as many ways to crash it as you can!
If you followed the instructions for the xbox diagnostic release I think there may be an error in the instructions, so take a look at Xbox/PC screens go black then CTD - #2214 by RagingWombat839 and decide for yourselves…
Lmao I play on Xbox One S Cloud Gaming (hardware limitations means no downloading). I get stutters every 10-20 seconds. When I upgrade everything is going to feel sooo smooth.
