I had this issue the very first time I installed the game. Took days before they eventually completed. Has never done it since though.
Itās a bug fest at the moment
I just have to chuckle every time I look at your screenshot with the aircraft tail sticking out of what appears to be the rubble of a hangar. There couldnāt be a more perfect metaphor for the sorry state of this sim. The aviation version of a train wreck.
I finally snagged a Series X for MSRP and it arrived yesterday. Was excited to experience the game in better detail over the Series S. It doesnāt work at all. Constant crashes / CTD from the map, insane stutteringā¦
This is on a day old Series X, fresh install, absolutely no other packages. Itās totally broken. So disappointing.
Youāre exactly right. If they just shrug at many of the serious issues because they canāt figure out how to fix them, or donāt want to expend the effort, and keep plowing ahead loading more and more new stuff (likely harboring itās own new bugs) on top of a very shaky foundation, it is only a matter of time before the whole thing just grinds to a halt. Weāre already there for many of us, with quite a few users now saying that after WU 9 they canāt even start the sim. Doesnāt get more broken than that.
I have no idea how WU 9 may have affected me, because after the widespread chaos unleashed by Sim Updates 8 and 9 Iāve given up and refuse to touch this thing again unless and until I start seeing users saying that EVERYTHING is fixed.
Itās just foolish for Microsoft/Asobo to keep plowing ahead with new stuff when theyāre only piling more junk on top of a broken program. This thing had so much promise, but Iām rapidly reaching the conclusion that it was just a slick, shiny veneer over a rotten core. If they canāt fix this thing as it is, then they should freeze this product, scrap the underlying code from FSX (which was always an un-optimized piece of junk), and redevelop it from the ground up. Just look at how the PC guys canāt even get the performance of this thing to scale with more powerful hardware. Users with the fastest CPUs available, and uber-powerful GPUs like the RTX 3090, only get slightly better performance than those with far more basic machines. That kind of behavior traces straight back to the underlying code from FSX, and is inexcusable in this day and age.
Xbox X with 1 tb expansion card.
What I did to get games to work/play.
- deleted game off of internal and external card.
- deleted Reserved Space
- d/l game - full version
- d/l WU 1 thru 8. Left WU 9 in MSās cloud (not d/led)
- d/l all add on
Flew Kodiak 100 with NXi from KPDX to KAST IFR with live weather and multiplayer no CDT
Flying C170 from KPDX to 450R (Bandon, OR) IFR live weather multiplayer no CDT
Seems Iām back to the place I was before WU 9
Personal Observation
I wish MS/Asobo would beta test the game on a home userās XBox X/S before release. Iām guessing it would save a bit of heartache and time for all combined.

Thanks for the information. I am very frustrated at this latest issue. I cannot get the sim to load on the Xbox x. Period. I was enjoying some fun flights and was happy that SU9 and subsequent update to the G1000nxi resolved the Kodiak CTD issues. The Kodiak is really fun to fly.
If I delete the Reserve Space does that wipe all my setting for each aircraft and the HOTAS? I really donāt understand this stuff much.
Thanks for the help.
Clearing the Reserved Space clears:
⢠All downloaded content ā Premium/Deluxe content, WUs, scenery, airports, aircraft, etc.
⢠Bush Trip progress
⢠All custom camera saves
⢠Online data settings
⢠Rolling Cache and its settings
⢠Other non-specific local data
When I deleted Reserve Space it did remove all the WUās, Addonās, Hobb Meter Hours and custom keyboard bindings. What is not removed is Profile hours and achievements ie logbook, etc.
Since I use a Turtle Beach V1 controller I canāt answer what happens to HOTAS settings.

ps I see somebody has a more detailed answer then I haveā¦
Theyāve already broken it on PC at least 3 times
How about flight hours and logbook are they kept? ![]()
Yes the hours are still there, didnāt check log book but I think theyāre stored together so it should be fine too.
Proper gaming console. PS5 would probably run this title better.
The two consoles are very similar in their internal architecture. So Iād expect the same issues. Itās not about the console, anyway. Itās more than capable of running the sim. There are PC users with far more powerful machines encountering the same issues we on the Xbox do, mate.
Just a tongue in cheek comment Mate. But , yeah your right the console is perfectly capable of running the sim and I canāt praise it enough for such a briliant port. Though as it stands from my POV its bricked on my console at present. And I cant deny that either.
As in regards to its performance I know its struggling across both platforms. But how Bizarre is it when I know about 4 people in my community with no problems at all. 2 with PC and 2 with Series X. Now I almost didnt believe it to be true that how can someone elseās experience be so flawless to mine.
So, I went and had a look to see how my friends Series X experience was. I was shocked. It ran like day 1 on the console. Now he had all the same mods installed that I have plus more. All the settings were on with full traffic enabled.
So, I dont know what to do with this simulator any more. I lose heart in it but keep coming back. Im sorry if I seem negative mate but thats how its drove me to be. I try to keep positive about the sim as once again I cant praise this simulator enough.
To actually be on a console is truly amazing.
No apology necessary as itās perfectly understandable. Itās not pleasant when someone is having a ā ā ā ā ā ā experience with using the sim.
Would you know if any one of those who have a perfect running xbox had at least once tried the cloud gaming version (attach the XBox Controller via Bluetooth to the Laptop and then start fs2020 through the XBox App)? I am not quote sure but I might think that for me a couple of problems started when doing so⦠at least the settings for rolling cache and other data disappeared around that timeā¦
⦠some sync problem between cloud and xbox may be⦠![]()
Yes.
Log Book, controller settings, landing challenges, flight training and many of the options you set are saved in the cloud.
Im not quite sure, I would need to ask. I know myself I have never used the Xbox cloud version. Could that really be the problem?
I did not have CTD on cloud, but the avionics freezing is still there.
