Severe Problems on Xbox After Sim Update 9

I was just thinking as rolling cache an connection data disappeared during that time frame. Actually the settings are not missing, you can still search and find them on the data page…the rolling cache for me is still set to 32GB so I would not need to change something, but… I’m still trying to find a reason why there are so extremely different experiences on Xbox (good vs catastrophic) and I 'm not sure what caused the settings to “disappear” and when. One thought also goes to my participation in both the SU8 and SU9 Beta with the strange way and things happening around leaving the Beta. I mean: a complete reinstallation would might cure any sync Problem between XBox, cloud, Account data and might be flight hours/Logbook as well as the place where the data about my purchases are kept. If I fly a plane in and purchased through the cloud on a airport that I have purchased on Xbox… things like that. Were are those data kept? In a central data store? Were is that store and who maintains it?.. just trying to think what caused the mess as we all do

The stuttering Welcome and World screens on start up might also suggest some background processes going on. Going back into the game from Quick Resume seems to lead to a much smoother experience - perhaps because whatever background process causes the slowdown has finished? And as you say whatever is going on seems to be different for everyone - could there be some sort of latency issue going on? Would be interesting to understand how many of us have multiplayer ON perhaps?

But usually i get the smoothest experience after a cold boot from the XSX. After every single flight i cold boot the system. Yesterday i didn’t, i did quit the game so no QR though, and i get a CTD.

SU9 has definitely caused more CTD’s since release. That cannot be disputed. I’m not sure what’s been changed but I imagine it won’t be rectified (if it is at all) until SU10.

Still literally unplayable

Another observation: the lag and stuttering we are all so familiar with, i think it’s definately on the server side. I’m in Europe, and when i fly prime time in the evening on the EU West server my experience is far less smooth then when i fly at 00.00 my local time. I did a one hour flight over Australia at midnight on the same server, and it was absolutely smooth as silk. Not one stutter. It felt like i was in stutter free heaven.

So, Microsoft should upgrade their servers?

I see they will have some news about the ctds in the next dev update I believe, found the info on reddit, but it was posted on these forums, but can’t see where it was posted. It was a post from the senior community manager

I agree I think a good percentage of the problems are server related. It’s certainly not my Internet, I have a 250GB speed and I use an ethernet cable.

We all seem to have different experiences - mostly bad one at that - since SU9.
One conclusion at least - MSFS is now extremely unstable for all of us.

Personally I think this indicates that it can’t be left to SU10 - potentially there should an emergency discussion on a rollback. Not said lightly, I think the exceptional circumstances here warrant it.

If it isn’t done, I think it could be the end of MSFS on the Xbox platforms, which may well fatally damage the future viability of MSFS - I really think it has to be a big success on Xbox to flourish.

Mine is flyable for now but always with dread of something going wrong, another CTD or some sudden mad, flight ruining stuttering going on. I avoided loading WU9 luckily.

It is a real mess.

I agree with your post, but this won’t happen. They have to move forwards and try and fix what’s happening, not go backwards. Who knows, going backwards could potentially cause more problems than it solves.

Completely agree, roll back would potentially cause more issues, for a start 3rd party addons that are continually being updated would not play nice.

What they need to do is delay that top gun expansion, and focus on performance for both xbox and PC, that should come in a hotfix, and then hopefully SU10 going forward will be a lot better for everyone, it will be a disaster if SU10 has the same issues.

They also need to dump the beta release or at least extend it, SU9 beta was a complete waste of time.

Agreed: by a smooth experience i mean no stutter or lagging. But indeed, there is also the perminent fear of things going south. CTD, frozen avionics, ND Range freeze, autopilot behaviour etc etc. There is so much wrong at the moment.

Not personally too fussed about freezing and stuttering occasionally, I suppose it’s never going to be 100% smooth. But definitely, it’s the thought in the back of your mind that it’s going to CTD on takeoff, or on approach, or when you taxi in and park up, it spoils the enjoyment to a degree.

Multiplayer off here, never used it.

Me neither.. I was just wondering - probably clutching at straws - If there were any differences in the way single and multiplayer were handled by the servers ( specifically I got to wondering about latency issues)

Is there going to be another patch update later or tomorrow???

You know, the biggest kick in the teeth for me is how after every CTD you have to reboot and see ‘Game of the Year’ written on the screen, is that a self appointed title?
When it works it’s phenomenal, but that is an extreme rarity now, since I discovered and downloaded the game about 6 months ago I’d say I’ve had about an equal amount of time shared between it working with faults and not working at all.
If this was World of Warcraft or Fortnite I’d bet the developers would be clambering to get it up and running again. Asobo just seem like they can be bothered with the hassle…

What I experienced is that when we change manually to a server where currently is no prime time the experience get’s much smoother.
It doesn’t matter if you have 49ms or 236 ms as ping for just cruising around.

I keep that in mind and test.
