Shared cockpit/multiplayer

Con discussion post remove – this is a WISH Topic.

Yup, I agree I would rather have the option to use discord if i want, rather have to listen to 100s of people rambling on about things not directly related to my flight.

I HOPE ASOSBO NEVER introduces a voice option. There I said it!

To be fair, when FSX was on, we didn’t have XBox gaming. The PC overlay pretty much provides what you describe - I don’t play on console so I can’t say anything about it.

I don’t play on console either. I play on pc, but it would be nice if they redo the multiplayer.

And still no mention of shared cockpit for 2024…

The MP system (most likely) needs to be re-designed and updated to realistically support a robust “Shared Cockpit” system.

So, 1st thing 1st – new “reliable & robust” MP first, then shared cockpit

As long as I get MP planes bouncing back and forth like I only know from Star Trek Online, having a new approach to MP in its entirety makes perfect sense. Otherwise you won’t be able to keep -basically two planes- on two machines in absolute sync.

All missions shown in MSFS2024 looked like single player missions, so my fear is they will drop the whole multiplayer altogether. At least it will be very low on the priority list. They did not mention multiplayer capabilities at all. At least it is now clear what direction they are taking with the game.

It’s a teaser trailer, so of course they are not going to show you everything that’s in the game right now, because of NDA and also, they want to keep everything as a surprise. (Most games do this.)

I kind of agree and disagree in that aspect, like yes, people might not want voice chat or text, but I don’t think you can just exclude people out, just because they don’t have discord. plus, maybe most of half of the percentage of people who play Microsoft flight sim, don’t have discord, or social media, so I don’t think it’s right to exclude all of those people out, just because you may not want voice chat in the sim… (I think it’s beneficial as well for those people who want to talk to other players in the game instead of having to go to discord to talk.)

Also, there is a possibility if Microsoft Flight Sim added voice chat, then they are going to have an option for people who don’t want to hear other players inside of the game.

It’s unreal that this feature hasn’t been implemented into the game yet.

Hello KingKitty. Welcome to MSFS. I’m retired, so on most days. I’m a Co-Pilot in the forum. Can assist you with the sim if needed. I’m on XBox S series.

This should be a fundamental feature in the upcoming sim. Amazed that no one has spoken of it before.

Hello syphontPython.
Welcome to MSFS!

I have a brother living overseas, I want to build him an upcoming MSFS 2024 system with shared cockpit so we can do what we dreamed about as children : Flying a plane together in a storm seeing if we can save the passengers and land the plane safely… When children our dad had his PPL, we had a 120V electric fan with naked 4 blade prop as an engine put into a cardboard built “cockpit” with some toggle switches an old speedometer and some lights..dad even helped us connect both to outlet and a 12V car battery…this was Hight Tech back in 1968 for us and we had many dramatic moments until the makeshift cardboard caved, so dear Asobo/ Microsoft: I am confident that some day you will make this real  -Thank you
