I haven’t been using Live weather at all since my CTDs started and they have mostly been as you describe, crashing while the flight is loading, but also zooming and panning.
I keep reading all the posts of this interesting thread despite the fact that I haven’t experienced these CTDs (so far…) .I have just tried a flight with Live weather On and Preset ,Bing On and Off. It doesn’t matter. I have no CTDs. As explained in my previous post 138/282 , my internet speed is only 30mps at his best! As suggested by others…it seems that internet speed matter…somehow.
BTW , yesterday there as been a snow-fall on the Alps above 3000 Fts.
Live Weather ON, Bing Data ON = CTDs on the world map and during flights.
Live Weather ON, Bing Data OFF = no more CTDs.
Live Weather OFF, Bing Data ON = CTDs on the world map and during flights.
Was in peace for the few last days, my luck has run out.
It’s happening to me again.
I also have no crashes and my internet speed is 650 Mbps. I’m not sure the speed matters.
For example, today, I CTD every time I try to load CYWG.
It could also mean a CTD when approaching this airport during a flight.
Of course, disabing Bing data solves the issue…
Again, this thread is about a crash when zooming in the world map, not loading flights. you should open another thread with your issue.
All these issues are related to Bing data, it can happen when zooming in/out, loading, or even during flight.
Bing data has clearly been identified as the issue here.
There is not point making different topics for the same issue.
Sorry, but no it has not. I have Bing Data ON and don’t have any crashes zooming in on the map.
You not having this issue doesn’t mean there is no issue at all.
A lot of us on this topic have fixed our CTD by disabling Bing.
Where did I say there is no issue?
Please can I take the opportunity to remind you both to keep all conversations civil and constructive as per the Code of Conduct set on the forums.
The root cause for this specific crash is still under investigation.
Thanks,
The MSFS Team
Also CTD by clicking on a friend on the world map expecting airframe, server etc.
I’ve been experiencing the same CTD’s when Zooming on the world map (not in sim) and switching Auto-Negotiation to 100 Full Duplex fixed my issue. Hopefully fixed in SU14 but for now I’ll use this thanks @AboezD
so today I’ve not had any CTD’s yet. numerous load ins
I will add my vote to this being an issue that appeared with SU13. As suggested above, and as I had figured out after hours of testing, it seems to be a data processing/loading issue, either from the World Map or from the loading screen once you press “Fly” to start a flight.
I had resorted to a mental timer after selecting everything for a flight, switching my World Map to IFR instead of the default Satellite view, and then counting to 25-30 before pressing fly after I had selected everything. That usually resulted in a successful load and often a good flight. However, even with that, I sometimes had a CTD when switching to an external camera view and moving it around.
This occurred with an empty Community folder, no exe.xml file and a newly installed Flight Simulator install. I tried a suggestion about about changing the link connection speed from Auto to what my link speed actually is (1Gbps Full Duplex), and that made no difference (I didn’t try the 100Mbps setting). The only thing that seems to have helped is disabling Bing Data World Graphics, which also disables Photogrammetry,
I’m not happy with the solution, as I love flying around precisely because of the real-world view I get, but I had been about to leave MSFS off for a while (until SU14 comes out), as I had spent so much time testing things and reviewing crash reports and trying out different configurations, video drivers, memory and GPU stress tests, etc.
Anyway, I will leave it with Bing Data World Graphics off for now so that I can at least fly. Here’s hoping that Microsoft figure this out for SU14.
I’ll add to this…Tried three times to setup a flight today on the world map, and three consecutive CTD’s, in a row. Again, seems to happen when zooming in and out. Sometimes, there are no issues, sometimes, like today, I’ve just given up…Never had this issue before SU13 and haven’t installed anything in the past several weeks.
hopefully they figure this out. MSFS without the bing data on… At that point the other sims look as good or better.
Got the same CTD problem everyone has, they (MS and Asobo) must realize if this sort of problems continue on PC they will lose a lot off customers. Like many people said the problem is not local, because if it’s local why so many users reported this then? If they want to sell FS2024 to more users they must first fix this or acknowledge that a lot of problems (with updates) are theirs and should be fixed. Because you can truly see that they are busy with FS2024 and not anymore with FS2020.
Very, very disappointing what they do with every update. Also, the recent SU14 beta seems to have caused a larger than normal disruption!
Anyway, I’m glad I have a stable (albeit somewhat generic looking) sim again. Hopefully SU14 will fix their data sync/processing issues. Unfortunately, it doesn’t give me confidence for their plan for a thin client with even more cloud-based data streaming for MSFS2024.
