Sim freezes when returning to main menu with inibuilds aircraft

  1. Description of the issue:
    When returning to the main menu from a free flight (I haven’t tested the other modes), the sim freezes and needs to be forcibly closed.
    Appears to be a different issue to Exit to main menu results in broken UI

  2. Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

At the end of each flight, pressing end flight of return to main menu freezes the sim. Only way to fix it is to kill MSFS24 and restart.

This seems to have fixed it for me for now:

My flight sim is on a separate drive, in my case F:\ in the settings my rolling cache was set to C:\ so i’ve changed it to the same drive and now it doesn’t freeze going to main menu.

That’s good feedback for the devs. For us Xbox users that may not help considering we don’t get a choice of where data is stored unless we are using an expansion/external hard drive. I can confirm that I all my data is stored on the one drive, however the issue appears to have fixed itself or at least doesn’t happen every time anymore. If it helps the devs with possible server issues, I’m based in Western Australia.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: Every time I click the “End Flight” button after finishing my flight in “Free Flight,” FS freezes while returneing to the main menu (as shown in the picture), although the background music keeps playing.
I then have to exit Flight Simulator via the Task Manager.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Mostly everytime in Free Flight Mode. but I used IniBUids A321, A330

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Perform a flight in “Free Flight” mode, taking off from any airport and landing at another:
    I did 2 flights with the A330: LFSB-KSDF / KSDF- LSZH
    2 with A321; LSGG-ESSA / ESSA-LSGG
    Same behaviors.
  2. End the flight by pressing ESC and then clicking on “End Flight.”
  3. the screen return to the main view and keep freezing while the music continue. Longer time I wait, 5 minutes, then I used “Task Manager” to kill FS2024.

Same here. Every longer flight, let’s say more than 1h, ends up with the game freezing.

Same here, either on exit from the flight or exit to the desktop.

Same here. Looks like this is only related to inibuilds aircraft but not everyone is experiencing this issue.

I think I found a different solution to fix this (for now).

In this thread: Cannot unselect “streamed” packages in my library - Bug Reporting Hub / Miscellaneous - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums I have found a fix for unwanted MSFS 2020 addons to be streamed into the sim. Guess what guys, since ever I removed all 2020 addons the sim can now go back to main menu without any trouble :slight_smile:

Sadly this is not an option for Xbox users either :frowning:

Happened to me also when flying 737 Max.

Confirmed. Doesn’t happen on every flight, though.
