For me the performance change is huge. Unless something else on my PC has changed that I’m not aware of.
I can’t see that there have been any windows or driver updates since yesterday.
The only thing that I did today was install the C++ libraries again as another application was giving me errors in the error log that made me think it might be an issue.
I doubt that would have had any effect on MSFS though.
Defintiely better visuals at higher detail levels & LOD and virtually no stutter. Certainly the best I’ve seen it running since day 1.
Did Asobo or Microsoft put out a release saying they were making changes to the servers? I certainly haven’t seen one.
Many reports about gameplay here in the forums vary dramatically from people who have had amazing experiences the whole time, to terrible experiences the whole time. Server hiccups has always been a potential suspect. But barring either the developer or the publisher saying that they changed something, it could just as easily be a random, temporary fluctuation in server performance or traffic.
Additionally, no one has reported getting booted today for a server restart. If you recall from the last patch, many people complained about that specific thing. So it seems unlikely that something in the code itself changed.
Also, as I said before, it is Saturday. Who is at work?
No, not seen anything mentioned about any changes.
That’s why I made the original post to see if anyone else was seeing the same improvements I am.
Certainly there are many variables that could be responsible, maybe I’m just having a lucky day, but I sure as hell hope it stays like this.
Good one! If anything, COVID should have lead to a more polished game at release time since nobody could do anything except sit in front of a computer.
Well, friends, I think it was just coincidence… as now flying into Boston, the ground looks crappy and I’m only at 4k feet. Buildings don’t even render… just “steeples” and terrible triangles. Not what I’d expect at ULTRA and 200 level of detail.
Something seems to have changed for me. After clicking on exe icon another screen comes up now asking that packages wants to make changes to your computer. It loads up but didn’t notice an improvement as my system runs it ok. Will look tomorrow as it’s late ish here in uk.

Yes! I got this earlier tonight when I started up. Seemed random. Gave me the UAC permission dialogue box. Didn’t seem to download anything when it did the scan for updates. Can’t remember exactly what it said - something like “windows store packages want to make changes to your computer”
All programs like that do is kill background processes temporarily in an attempt to free up system resources. Mileage may vary. Malware potential is present.
