Sim Rate Reset to normal

Hello,

I have been doing some charter missions, and to skip time I increased the sim rate, for my surprise there is no option to reset to 1x, so I kinda had to remember hoe many times have I increased, to later on decrease it.

Problem is that this is NOT a reliable method, even thou I compared the clock on the EFB to my real stop watch, and “thought” ok now im the correct sim rate. Not this is where things gets interesting, last night I did a multiplayer flight with a friend around the town where we live, and for my surprise when we were taking of at the same time, he out of the sudden started to go quite ahead of me and I was falling behind, it was impossible to keep on him. I asked him what was his airspeed, and we had aprox the same, 85kt. We restarted the game, and again he took off quite faster than I. So I decided to speed up my sim rate and when I was getting close I decreased up to the point where we were flying wing to wing, knowing we had the same airspeed.

At this point, I guess that the sim rate that I had previously “thought” was ok, was actually not ok. My friend, Im 100% had the good sim rate as he never touched the sim rate on his side, he didn’t even know that existed.

Please @asobo Fix this the sim rate reset method, or at least put an indicator somewhere showing .25x, .5x, 2x, 4x, and so on if the sim rate is different than normal.

if (currentSimulation.simRate != .normal) {
//show simrate indicator
}

OR add a Reset Simrate shortcut input!
There I fixed it for you. :smile:

Definitely agree, would love to see this minor change actioned.

I used to use the clock to judge seconds changing but even noticed that one plane in 2024 clock did not change speed when I increased the sim rate… so now have to guess x1.

Thanks, I saw those really 2020 old posts as well.. nothing there resolves the issue, just “workarounds”, the easiest would be to implement a reset sim rate shortcut, so no matter if you are at slower or faster ones, with one button press the whole simulation goes to normal.

To Reset sim rate to 1x reduce it to minumum, then increase 4 times.

Thanks, so basically if I forget how many times I increased, I could just decrease it many many times and then up 4x? Is that correcT?

yes, spam press decrease button, then increase 4x to get to 1x sim rate

I’ve been using the Sim Rate Bandit addon. Gives you a nice voice cue as to which sim rate it’s on and a few other really nice QOL features.

Thanks, I’m on Xbox, I think is not to here

This did not work for me. I had to press 3 times to get back to what I think is 1x. I agree an indicator of where you are at would be nice for sim rate. I had an issue today where I felt like I couldn’t get back to one. It was either too slow if I cycled down 1 or too fast if I cycled up 1.

Agree too, we need a sim rate reset option.

I was also pressing 3x before and i was slower than my friend while flying together, 4x works for me after having spammed the slow rate like 10x :rofl:

Im using Sim Rate ++ in Career Mode and starting the EFB Stopwatch for reference. Now, at the end of the cruise when I go back to 1x it seems slightly faster than 1.00 - it is quite noticable on the EFB Stopwatch that the seconds interval is actually shorter. So going back to 1x it seems like 1.2x or something like that.

Thinking the ‘Sim Rate +/-’ and ‘Sim Rate Reset’ Control Buttons could easily be integrated in the EFB - next to the stopwatch for example..

I agree, a “reset sim rate” shortcut could be easily added (this is the dev in me talking)

True. The system likely relies on an INT change to determine [SIMRATE] * [MODIFIER]. A reset would just reset the modifier INT back to 1. There is the possibility that this is an overcomplicated system, but if it is not, this would be an extremely easy change. A UI tech designer could then put a button in and attach to to the reset function.

I understand that there is a feature wishlist somewhere… I am a Senior UI Tech Designer - so they can come ask me for help if they need it lol

really need that function on career mode !

Hi I tired to use sim rate, and it’s not working whenever I push the designated keys. Is there anyway to fix that?

Same for me… I am caught between slow motion and warp speed, I can’t get to 1 and have to cancel my flight.

Sim Rate at its lowest is 0.25, then goes to 0.5 and then 1.0. So for me I have a different key for sim rate up and down. When I want to go back to one. I just hit sim rate down a bunch of times and then two taps up on sim rate up.

The main problem is that in 2024 sim rate is broken. When you go up in sim rate the world time is not going faster. Your airplane is but when you land then after what should have been lets say a 4 hour flight maybe 1.5 hours of world time has passed. Also you will not burn as much fuel as you should have. This means that in an airplane like the longitude you can almost fly around the world.

The whole sim rate feature is a bug that is totally broken in 2024 and hopefully some day will work like it always has in 2020.
