Sim Skunk Works - FIAT Aeritalia G-91 Released

Hello,
may be that simconnecting weights on G-91 will impact on UI,
right weights are shown and managed with external config program.

Oh, I didn’t even notice an external config prog - I’ll have a look. I just bought the add-on a few days ago and haven’t got round to reading the manual yet as I’ve not had time even for flying.

Thanks.

I think the ordinance program is only avaialble on non-marketplace variant from Orbx etc. The marketplace one was nerfed a bit by Microsoft.

Must be - I can’t find any entry for SSW in the start menu.

So does this mean those bought on the marketplace are going to struggle to set weights or are in any way affected?

After having another look at the aircraft in the sim, as no aircraft had been loaded before the G.91 instead of showing incorrect weights for a different aircraft, it shows this:

edit: I just had a quick look at one of the documents that came with the model. It says to run the set-up file:

File to change your external loadout is located on:
..\LocalCache\Packages\Community\simskunkworks-aircraft-g91\Data\G91setup.exe
It should be useful to create a shortcut on your taskbar or desktop,if you plan to often use it.

The problem is that when I double-click on that exe file, I get an error, so I’m guessing it has to be run whilst the sim itself is also running. Not so ideal, especially for those of us in VR but never mind.

hello,
which error are you getting when running the G91setup executable ?
May be a SimConnect fail error ?
yes the config program must be run with the sim running, it needs to connect with sim to set external stores properly.
May be using VR you may switch to virtual desktop temporarly to use the setp.exe still having vr on your head.

Yes, it’s the simconnect one and I guessed about having the sim running.

I did think of using the desktop function - unfortunately right now my biggest problem is getting a smooth experience in VR with this model. Up to now I have flown exclusively single and twin props and had very few issues with VR performance, but with the G91 and to a lesser extent the MB-339, I’m having bad stutters and other performance related issues.

I only realised this last night, so I have some testing and tweaking to do before I can fly properly with the G91 in any case.

I am experiencing the same problems. Needs a lot more speed to lift off and rocks left and right until gear up and speed increases. The manual says it should fly itself off around 135 knts but it doesn’t.I am using a clean configuration with internal fuel which gives it a weight of 9840 lbs. The aircraft doesn’t behave like it used to on first release. Have the devs acknowledged this or have a solution?
Thanks for any help.
Seems to behave like the F104 I had in P3D.

It seems that way. @Aviattore7040

So much time has passed and we still don’t have any cameras in showcase mode, like other aeroplanes have (Nose, pilot side cockpit etc etc) no smoke effects as well
I wonder why since it is a beauty as a product
And yes,the flight model is def not the same as before

Guys, why don’t we have any cameras in showcase camera mode, like other aeroplanes have ? I have it from day one and to this day we still don’t have any other cameras implemented
Or any effects as well

I purchased the Gina recently and she flies nicely after some slight sensibility tuning of my HOTAS. A peach to take off with the right trim and tricky landings as expected (watch your speed and keep your RPM high until the threshold).

Hi, what speed does she lift off?

At 150 if i am not mistaken

I don’t find it “A peach to take off “. I find it’s reluctant to take off even when trim is set as per the manual. To me something has changed the aircraft behaviour. There has been numerous sim updates since the aircraft release so maybe it needs another update.

which brings the question..Is it abandoned?

I raise the nose just below 100 knots and then below 150 the aircraft takes off. She sometimes does not gracefully fly off if the AoA is too large or the trim not well set. I use the 50% fuel and no aux tank or weapon load. The margins between what you should or shouldn’t do are narrow on this aircraft. I bought the Gina recently so cannot comment on former modelings.

Yeah, I stopped flying it. It used to be beautiful to fly. Now I can’t really take off with it and landings are also very problematic. I am disappointed that the aircraft has not been updated.

I agree it used to be a lovely aircraft to fly and I think it has the best modelled cockpit of all the aircraft in MSFS. Can’t see why they would abandon it. Hope not anyway.

This topic strangely reminds me of the ones for the Corsair or the FI spitfire, people discarding the flight model as wrong because they couldn’t take off or land without being all over the place. It is not because the flight model is bad, it is because the pilot is not doing things properly and/or doesn’t have the appropriate controllers !

An aircraft like the Gina needs practice, a lot of practice and that means of lot of failures to achieve a reasonably safe take off or landing. This aint no 172 ! Sloppiness is not an option in such an aircraft. It means death.

For instance, things I learned the hard way for the landing :

The overhead break landing is not the easiest way to start to learn. To feel the aircraft, It is IMO better to fly a long approach and learn to stabilize the aircraft. Then try the break landing when you feel that you are in control.

You can’t give a burst of power with the throttle to restore a precarious situation. One needs to keep a hawk eye on the speed, the stall margin is narrow on this kind of aircraft, and have a high level of RPM at the ready. I find 65% too little, 75/80% i s much better specially as Gina is not too much slippery. And I regulate the speed if needed with the airbrake.

Last thing I noted, you need to know your fuel weight at landing and don’t forget the +5 kn for every 500 pounds.

Actually I didn’t buy the MB339 addon because she is notoriously forgiving and easy to fly. Where is the fun ?

I look forward to the 104 threads, an aircraft which is even more difficult to handle than the Gina .

The issue is that a bunch of people USED to be able to fly it just fine until a sim update after which especially takeoffs became an issue. So this isn’t really about controllers or skill as I used to be able to do it and now I can’t. It’s the only aircraft in my hangar of 125 aircraft that gives me these issues…

I cannot but say that I can fly her ! I am not yet too proud of my flying but it slowly gets better . A long practice of flying the L-29 in P3D and DCS and the F-100 in P3D certainly helps. Now the G-91 model has maybe be changed since the beginning but as I find it good now it was maybe not as good before

Now, If you have 125 aircraft (trying to set a record or something ?) in your hangar, how much time do you spend on each ? Flying a jet like the Gina has to be earned, and not just by buying her. And thats good. This is where the fun is. The landing in the Gina is dangerous if you are not extremely attentive. This is what I expect from such a plane.
