Watch them be ignorant again of what is being asked. I’m so disappointed by this change.
Sim Update 5: pop-in is horrible, and bad FPS stutters while switching from cockpit to external view
Well I think you just need to relax a bit. It’s day one of the update and I don’t remember seeing anything what your seeing on any of the pre-release videos. You might want to start at default settings and go from there.
Sorry this was meant for the OP.
Of course you didn’t see any of this in the pre-release videos, they were designed not to be shown.
This is how this update has been designed, it has nothing to do with servers.
Thanks but I’ve already formed my opinion on these changes. I’ve been testing these new optimisations for quite a while now, and I know how much of an impact they have on many different graphics settings.
And now that people are showing similar effects on top-end systems, I don’t think the experience is going to be any different for anyone. From now on it’s only a matter of how much each user is sensitive to the stutters and the pop-in.
This will take a while and lot of tickets, Threads, questions, bug Reports and wishlisting.
Im so exhausted of this.
I think your statements are incorrect about how performance increased. This flight sim community is not fooled by trade offs and I’m pretty sure the MSFS development team knows this.
If performance gain does not come for free, then there is no performance gain.
I think for some/many, it will take some time for the MSFS servers to settle down. There could be tens if not hundreds of thousands of people downloading many gigs at the same time.
If this does not settle down by next week, then we have our results.
I’m talking 3rd party videos on youtube.
Wow, literally haven’t noticed any of these issues at all. Flew around NYC, Toronto, and Seattle and it looked the same as before, it was just a lot smoother. Didn’t see any pop-in.
Could you do the same and post a video? I’m still hoping it is just server load.
This is good to hear. I’m not really worried about this issue but I guess I will know in an hour or so.
How are your graphics settings?
Please.
RigidAlpaca is right. Every single time we have an update, we have additional CTDs and graphics problems, presumably due to server overload. And every single time, most of the problems are magically reduced the day after the release.
For those of you reaching for your keyboards to let me know that your problem is not due to server overload, note that I did NOT say that they would ALL magically disappear. All I’m saying is to wait until tomorrow or Thursday, recheck your settings to make sure they are correct, and try again.
And for those of you reaching for your keyboard to tell me that Asobo should have fixed this by now and that we shouldn’t have to deal with server issues or mysterious settings changes, save your typing because I agree. We are all in this situation whether we like it or not.
I can’t answer properly because of NDA
You can now set LOD in CFG since performance increased, still usable and great frame, trees rendering distance are now back like the old MOD rendering far, no need anymore mod, it’s even better. After change, just make sure you set to read only to avoid the files get changed again.
{Terrain
LoDFactor 5.000000 (adjust to your taste:Ex 4.000000)
}
{ObjectsLoD
LoDFactor 10.000000 (adjust to your taste:Ex 9.000000)
You don’t need to read my statement (which is not an explanation I made up on my own by the way), the video in the main post perfectly demonstrates what’s going on.
I’m not saying the culling is the only source of the performance improvements, they did make other improvements like moving the glass cockpit computations to another thread. But that’s not all of it.
When one edits the user.cfg it’s good practice to make this file read only. Otherwise MSFS might overwrite this file.
saw your edit… hahaha
Late scenery pop in may also be due to third party mods not yet optimised for this update. Make sure to test default scenery as well as deleting your rolling cache. Im not seeing this issue to the extent in the video with this latest build. I did notice that it reset all my graphics options though and switched rolling cache to “ON” when I previously had it set to OFF.
This video is basically a distortion of reality, for what purpose, I wouldn’t know.
I don’t know many who fly by switching view every second. This “issue” is pretty much inconsequential during any normal operation of the sim.
seen a lot that were very smooth, with good visuals
