SimShaker for Aviators - Feeld the brrrt

I was just about to suggest the same, if there are good designed alternative sound files it would be amazing if they’d come with the software itself or otherwise could be found on a centralized website.

Can someone here explain why there are three customized folders (1, 2 and 6) in the sound module documents folder ? I presume they are for piston, turboprop and jet engine custom sounds?
I realize this is Andre’s software and not SSA but this thread has been really helpful for both !

They relate to output channels - so 1 mono, 2 stereo, 6 channels. The wav files in each folder can be opened in a audio editor.

Hello, I’m trying to buy the full version of the sim shaker sound module, but I can’t find any way to pay for an activation code on the website. Am I missing something?

Please contact Andre, I’ve nothing to do with the Sound Module

I have tried. No luck. If you try to buy anything you get this. I can’t really use sound module because I can’t pay for full version. I need an activation code I can’t get. Anyone able to help?

I’m using a single mono transducer as well, so this is great @Brightair1 , much appreciated. May I ask though, can you really feel the flaps or landing gear at 24/25%? In fact with these settings can you pick out every effect in the list?

It would be great to have some space for people to share & discuss settings. I’m really struggling to find much on the web. A bit more going on in DCS but I didn’t see piston settings.

Hi @f4l09993 - after installation should I have two options of generic piston and generic jet? Or does the jet one only appear when certain aircraft are selected? I only have generic piston available whatever aircraft I choose. Also can I save configurations that will appear in that list? Sorry if this is documented somwhere. I’m not having much luck finding resources. I did see an option to view a user guide but it opened a folder and I didn’t see a user guide in there. Thanks for creating this !

Am I correct in my understanding that your software will not work fully without the full version of the simshaker sound module?

Currently I have no way to get the full version of sound module.

If you want to use the Sound Module addon, you need to get it from Andre. I try to contact Andre…

Hey @Spit40,

for MSFS2020 SSA currently only supports the generic profiles. They should be there and depend on the engine time MSFS reports via SimConnect to SSA. So currently, one profile for all planes of a specific type…

Maybe I’ll add some flexibility there in the future, but my time is very limited at the moment…

The store link is working again. I placed an order. Thanks for answering my questions.

That simshaker thing is really nice. Since i use it tough, don’t know if it just coincidence or the simconnect install thing, i got regular micro stutter who drive me a bit crazy as i play in vr… :frowning:

Longtime user of Wings and Aviator but new to MSFS. Are there clear instructions on where and how to get SimConnect? The link I find don’t mention MSFS 2020 or lack guidance.

Also, is there any indication if MSFS will eventually add telemetry “out of the box” to better work with these sorts of applications?.

Thanks

I am very pleased when the custom ground roll file is appreciated and thank you for your suggestion.
With a clear description of the required adjustment, other files could also be revised.

For a professional addition to the software, a 1, 2 and 6 channel version would probably be required. Even if a large number of users very likely have a 1 or 2 channel solution.

A database of customized sound files would certainly be helpful and should ideally include a rating option and maybe a graphical snapshot for optical comparisons.

The following options might be helpful for adapting SimShaker for Aviators or SimShaker Sound Module:

  • A “refresh button” for a quick update of the sound database, which means that a restart after inserting custom files would not be necessary. This is particularly useful when testing various custom files.

  • That custom files can also be called up under “Test” in “SimShaker Sound Module” to enable a quick comparison. Possibly with another tab “Test custom files”. This would also allow an informative before / after comparison.

Thanks for the compliment and I’m glad that it made an improvement.

Yes, with the current settings, the flaps can be felt very well at 25%. With higher values, it quickly feels unrealistically strong.

In my opinion, the balance between the volume of the sound card assigned to Buttkicker and the volume of the Buttkicker amplifier is crucial. The basic sound level / volume varies slightly with each sound card, making a direct comparison difficult. That’s why I also specified the volume level and the sound card used under the settings.

In addition, between different volume settings (buttkicker amplifier very high volume + sound card rather low vs buttkicker amplifier rather low + sound card very high) there are also minimally different characteristics of the respective effect. This balance and subtle differences seem to be quite helpful for optimal fine tuning.

It doesn’t mention MSFS2020 but this is the correct file to download. Make sure you follow the instructions and install the 3 files in order :+1:

That’s a very interesting point thanks. Yet another complication is that I’m actually using an earthquake transducer not a buttkicker, so some subtle differences there. In general I would think lower speaker output and higher amplification would give less distortion. Did you find that or was it more of a sweetspot? Any tips on how to be sure that your custom WAVs are being played rather than default?

Sorry for the dumb question. I’ve tried to scan the whole post here. Do I download and install the legacy SimConnect software and also keep running the newer version that comes with MSFS? Do they conflict somehow? I also use little nav map and other plugins that need sim connect running so will this legacy version work with that when I load it over top of the newer version? Thank you.
