Agreed. Unneeded for most planes. Which is why I’m not yet 100% sure what I’m going to do with it. In either scenario I described, that extra screen is not likely to get a lot of use. At least in the case of an overhead, since so few planes use them.
Although I’m leaning towards the left side, I can potentially shift my panels (where a side panel isn’t needed) to the left and make even more space on my main screens.
Decisions, decisions…
And yes, tablet with AM natively for stuff in the AM store or with Spacedesk for other stuff works well. That’s what I used to do when I was using my 15.6" screens. I had my iPad as that left side, and my old Android as a pedestal. It supplemented those main screens very nicely.
The other bullet point in the list of advantages for the 15.6" Wimaxit (and the Prechen that Russ originally recommended) is how nicely it mounts on top of Honeycomb (both Alpha and Bravo) and Logitech/Saitek controls and instruments utilizing the Stay Level Touch Brackets. I even have a Logitech radio panel mounted on top of my Bravo with a 15.6" touchscreen mounted on top of that radio panel. The PFD and the MPD are not at the same level, but I do it this way because on GA planes without a G1000, I use the left touch panel on the Alpha yoke for the Air Manager steam gauges in conjunction with the Logitech Radio Panel on the Bravo. (On GA planes with the G1000, the radio panel can remain powered down.)
Let me be clear. I don’t recommend these smaller displays for your main instrument panel purely because of size. I am thinking of using that size as a supplement to my main dual 24” displays. Yes there are brackets made for these specific use cases but Mounting other sizes with other equipment is by no means rocket science.
IMHO for a main instrument panel anything not in the 20-24” range Is a compromise and has many less advantages over the larger size but ultimately it’s for the user to decide what they prefer and want to spend.
Hey guys, using your G1000 nxi panels now, love it. Have a question: I’m trying to use both the left and right G1000 screens so I pop out both screens and use two of your panels but the buttons only control the left screen. I understand why it does that but is there a button or a method in the G1000 to tell it to “switch” the knob/controls to the right screen as well so I can control them both?
When I use the AM G1000 bezel the controls only operate the left screen in the C172 (the PFD). I want to also control the MFD (right screen - map view), not sure if that’s even possible without a separate AM panel but have yet to find one.
Many AM instruments such as this one have options to set up how it behaves. If you click on the instrument in the Home tab all it’s settings will be seen in the right side pane. Just change the role of the second G1000 overlay to MFD and it will work correctly. Do this without the panel running.
Like sling said, there are a bunch of user selectable options like PFD or MFD, what logo to display, and the option to show or hide autopilot controls to match G1000 variant of the plane you may be flying.
Hello, kindly ask all developers if possible insert Garmin GTN750 / Cockpit JMB-VL3 / Daimond D40 to use with Air Manager for Flight Simulator 2020. Please , Please… Thank you very much.
Good evening, after I downloaded the file, what should I do to be able to use it with Air Manager? Sorry but this is the first time I use it from this site. Thank you very much…
If you own the TDS GTNXi, you can run it in standalone mode outside of the sim on a touch screen. That will work with pretty much any plane at all, although it will only control planes that have an autopilot. But you can use it with literally any plane at all, even ones loaded with GNS units.
Simstrumentation has GTNXi bezels available to work with it.
