SU5, terrible GFX

please find attatched screenshots from my simulator, taken this evening

i’m not even sure what to think anymore, think im going to leave msfs alone for a few months and hopefully return to a better stable, post alpha release.

the eye candy was always a huge pulling point for me, but i cant play whilst it looks like this, feels like i stepped back in time pre FS98.

my system remains the same as it was since Feb so no hardware changes. running a hight end system as follows

Ryzen 5900X
Rtx 3090
64Gb DDR4 @ 36000mhz
and both Simulator and system installed on very fast M.2 drives. and the results below are what im getting!

forgot to add, interned speed is average of 70 mbps, which is alot better then the 50 that is suggested

I have to agree, that looks really bad. Hopefully we get a fix soon to get to back to the scenery quality we had prior to SU5.

Something is wrong with your settings.

It is terrible. I find it a disgrace that a company as large, wealthy and distinguished as Microsoft would allow such a update to be released. I have never been more disappointed with MSFS. If they are going to limit PC to XBOX hardware they could have just said so and saved people the money and time!

All ultra preset, tried the LOD increase result remains the same, and returned it to ultra preset,

Bing and photo etc is all enabled

Flying low over London in an Airbus requires over 150 mbps to keep up. With the increased load on the servers your lucky to get over 40 mbps on average. Sometimes it’s not sending data at all, random pauses.

Does it get better / resolve when you pause?

Check in the performance monitor if and how much FS2020 is downloading in that spot. I had the same issue today, paused, waited, nothing happened. Somehow FS2020 had turned Bing data off without notification. (Maybe they fixed that?) I turned it back on and the city appeared.

Results are the same where ever I try and fly , London was always looked stunning before SU5 looked like the e real thing never suffered with melted buildings etc , so In Theory after the update, it should have looked and performed even better, and not the complete opposite

I have no idea what happened with SU5. Im currently spending a couple days to to a complete re-install because I litterally had no photogrammetry or even autogen buildings many places. and other places they straight up disappeared if I left the area and returned.

Something really really weird and funky is going on in this update.

I’m tempted to reinstall , but I can’t cope with there slow server speeds

Whats funny is, I litterally called my ISP to have them upgrade my internet today to 100mbps, so they did it immediately.
Little did I know that the MSFS updater seems to cap you at around 30mbps.

oh joy!

In basically almost no case a full reinstall will help.
You can move the “Official” folder somewhere else, uninstall the sim, reinstall from Steam/MSStore and then copy back the Official Folder. MSFS will scan it and won’t need to download everything.

What are your Rolling Cache settings?
Also crosscheck that you have no updates pending in the Content Manager (even though I don’t think this has anything to do with photogrammetry).

First I have to mention there has been some talk about settings not being right first go.

I’m unsure exactly but something about saving the settings twice, not sure at what point you do that?

I just took a quick swing up the Thames … or is that down … anyways I gave it a go and have far better results.

Granted I test at 250mbps down but cache is turned off to test, all ultra, standard, nVidia factory settings aside from a mild OC.

Oh and 9900k, 64gb, 3060

Prior to SU3 I used to get my full 300 mbps download speed when downloading updates, after that it seemed to be capped at about 30 for me.

During the SU5 update I adjusted some network card settings and the windows optimised update (might have got that named incorrectly, I’m on my phone not at PC).
I was part way through downloading SU5 at the 30mbps speed I had come to accept when I adjusted the settings and it suddenly went back up to the full 300 again.

Having had similar downgraded graphics as shown above and reading that it didn’t seem that everyone was experiencing that I decided to do a complete reinstall.
Took about 2 hours 30mins.
With my download speeds hitting about 270mbps. So I don’t think they are capping it.

Sadly though the complete install has done nothing to improve the horrible graphics since Su5.

Are you getting similar related gfx results?

This is what I see.

That’s basically what I’m seeing too.

It really looks like bing and such are not enabled.
Just in case, log out from the game and any xbox account, restart your pc, and log in again.

Yes as detailed in many other posts since su5 , it’s a massive downgrade for me.
Rubbish AA, bad lighting, clouds scenery textures, draw distance greatly reduced despite having everything at max settings. Trees and buildings popping into and out of view about 1 mile out.
Just read around on the forums it’s already been argued about with a passion.

The download speeds are currently not an issue for me though.
Flying low over London at about 160kts I was seeing about 60mbps being used but it still looked like a blitzed city.

And yes I have checked that bing data and photogrammetry are on. And I have tried switching them on and off and logging in and out of xbox account.

So with top end hardware, why am I getting the results that I am now? And it seems others too?

As I stated earlier pre SU5 London looked absolutely stunning with everything maxed out, both in 4K and ultra wide (unfortunately my 4K screen does) but it was still stunning in uktrawide
